Bucko will be humbled and proud, as befits the honest and dedicated defender.
Defenders, though, stop the opposition and provide the platform for victory. For me, I'll always give the PoTY vote to a creative player or a striker - the match-winners.

The Scot's phenomenal work-rate and goals return is something special; he's like Bruce Rioch and Archie Gemmill rolled into one.
Rioch notched 21 goals (15 League) in 1974-75, sharing the top-scorer spot with Kevin Hector. What a block-busting player Bruce was!
Bryson already has 16 League goals, a remarkable return from midfield. He's assisted a fair few other goals as well.
