My wife was taken ill on our flight home yesterday. We went to the GP and she was told she had to be admitted immediately for treatment for the severe pain she was in.
I have always been a believer in the NHS and think its a wonderful part of what we are in the UK. This belief has been shaken to the core at the events at Morriston over the last 24 hours.
She was left in an ambulance without pain relief for 2 hours ( other patients were being treated at A&E then put back into the ambulance they came in)!
She was given a cannula in her arm by a trainee paramedic , he got it so wrong her clothing and the ambulance was covered in blood
She was left in A&E for 5 hours with only gas and air for the pain.
She was then taken to a ward which had recently had norvo virus. One of the symptoms my wife was suffering was severe vomiting making her dehydrated. genius! Then she was told she could not have visitors because of the virus. She was then left on a trolley all night as there was no bed available.
at 4.30am all the lights were put on and all the patients woken so that meds could be given .
After a long phone call this morning I got her moved from the "virus" ward.
Two staff members said that the hospital was at "crisis point" and "past crisis point". The staff on the whole were fine ( two sisters there were excellent) but some were uncaring or just plain amateur,
Yet the Health Minister tells us all in well in the NHS.
NO IT ISN'T!!

The bloke who has sat next to me at the Liberty since it opened has been waiting for a hip operation for 18 months. His mobility has gradually declined in that period and the West Ham game was the last one he attended as he now cannot leave the house except in a wheelchair. In December he finally got an appointment with the consultant but when he attended he met a foot specialist and it turned out that he had been put on the wrong waiting list. He was then told that he would be put on the correct waiting list but at the bottom!
He has complained bitterly but so far has got nowhere. There is no chance of him attending another game at the Liberty this season and very little prospect this calendar year. Friends are using his season ticket.
Even when they cock-up they seem unable or unwilling to put things right. Surely he should have been put on the hip waiting list at the point he would have been if they had not cocked up in the first place. |  |

I was about to post something similar. The NHS has very, very many happy stories to tell.
There are stories that will mention life saving treatment, fertility stories etc but there is tremendous stress on staff who continue to work admirably without a duvet day in sight.

Starving the NHS of money and staff is a direct governmental ploy. The outcome will be that it will become unfit for purpose and ripe for privatisation. I' m a great admirer of the NHS as they saved my life some 21 years ago and for that I will be eternally grateful to them. Unfortunately there are far too many chiefs and no Indians. |  | | |

Trouble is every time they reorganise, it's the same idiots left at the top in each health board.
Senior doctors are leaving in their droves, the best should be running the health boards for upto 5 years at the end of their careers. |  |
