Le Tissier Axed By Sky Sport Wednesday, 26th Aug 2020 17:54 Sky Sport have announced that Saints legend Matt Le Tissier will no longer be part of their team for the forthcoming season.
The man Saints fans call Le God has been axed alongside Charlie Nicholas and Phil Thompson from their Soccer Saturday show.
The TV company have been cutting staff numbers recently, and the three pundits were told of the decision on Tuesday.
Sky confirmed the news on Wednesday night and said: “We are changing some parts of our football coverage.
"Matt, Charlie and Phil have done a great job for us over the years, and they will leave us with our sincere thanks and very best wishes.”
Le Tissier had come under fire recently for sharing his thoughts on coronavirus and the government response on social media in recent weeks, but this is not thought to have had any bearing on the decision and it is more to do with Sky wanting to freshen up it's programmes with some new ideas and new faces.
Matt commented on Twitter to thank Sky Sports backroom staff for their support saying he had enjoyed his time there and now on to the next challenge.

It’s probably to do with diversity. It will freshen things up. Clinton Morrison and Glen Johnson are very good. But please, no women pundits, they are crap.

I don’t get why everyone’s so surprised, I mean sky sports has been going downhill ever since it lost the champions league broadcasting rights to BT sport. And it’s certainly still sinking so at least matts out before it hits rock bottom!

Morrison is awful, but ticks one of Sky's new woke boxes.. Matt should have had a sex change or something, might have kept his job then!

Sadly all part of Sky’s politically correct agenda and the need to follow the rest of the pack which is sadly beyond ridicule. No matter how good you are,if you don’t help meet the required quota it is a fond farewell you will get. Well one reaps what one sows!!

Sky probably just need to get some fresher younger faces who have more recently retired from the game, they need to show they are not a dinosaur broadcaster outfit

More importantly I can pick out a few man United fans in that picture in the archers .. looking miserable , arms crossed after another one of le god's goals against them. But why were they even there?

New Faces means pro Liverpool so called experts. Matt was one of the few who stood up for smaller teams. They didn't like that..

A change is as good as a rest. Stops these people milking the system and winging it. Time the Beeb got shot of Linnekar, Shearer & Wright as well.

It’s unfortunate that a couple of blatant and cheap sexist comments have been expressed during this discussion. Can’t we discuss things without these please.

I go along with most of the assessments above, but although we older fans can recall MLT and the others on the panel , it's now over 20 years since any of them played regularly and they must seem like golden oldies to a younger generation who'd need to look in the record books to see their playing careers. Expect to see a younger generation of "recently-retired " former players who the 21st century fans can remember and relate to. We can only hope that Sky find some who can speak English properly and understand the rules of the game that they so blatantly ignored in their own playing days.

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? AFC Bournemouth Polls |
