Who Is The Latest To Be Linked To A Move To St Mary's Tuesday, 26th Jun 2018 10:13 With Saints about to be linked to their 100th player of this transfer window, we take a look at the latest to be suggested by the media as about to make the move to the South Coast.
Biggest story of the day has to to be the Daily Star's claim that FC Basel attacker/winger Mohamed Elyounoussi is said to be on our radar with Leicester City also interested.
The Norway international scored 13 goals and provided a further 17 assists in 44 appearances in all competitions for the Swiss sideand was seen as the player who made them roll.
Elyounoussi who will turn 24 in August was born in Morrocco but opted to play International football for Norway where he has lived from an early age.
Also rearing its head up again is the interest in Paco Alcacer. According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo , the Saints are ready to pay 20m euros, that’s about £17.6m, for Barcelona striker Paco Alcacer.
What is becoming clear is that Mark Hughes is working overtime alongside the club's famed Black Box system to have a complete revamp of the squad this season, with some of the fringe players being moved on to make space for a series of new signings.
Some supporters are still sceptical, but the club can only do what they do and having done it so well over the last four years should be at least given a chance to show what they can do.
How many of us considered the likes of Sadio Mane, Pelle, Dusan Tadic and even Virgil Van Dijk to be inferior replacements to those that had just left.
It is positive that we are being linked with so many players, but give the club some leeway until the transfer window closes before passing judgement on either the club's intent or their ability to carry it out.

This would be a really exciting signing. With Armstrong coming in to replace the wonderful, but ageing, Davis, and the Elyounoussi to replace Tadic this would be a very encouraging start to the transfer window. A Basel supporting friend says he's as impressed with Elyounoussi as he was with Salah...

I really can't agree with you, Nick. If Les Reed doesn't sign DeGea, Messi, Ronaldo, Lewandowski and Neymar and actually physically win the Premier League before the season starts then this window will have been another abject failure. It's time this club showed some ambition.

People are sceptable because of what’s happened in the past and fans do winge and moan but that’s because they care, football is an opinionated sport which makes it great so if fans want to express themselves on this or any other forum then that’s fine ( have a good moan makes you feel better)

I’m sure Boufal will put in a word with his countryman telling him how good it is at Saints now Hughes is in charge. Nic, all these transfer stories that start so positively but end either by petering out or,worse, when the prey signs for Leicester are doing my head in. Can’t you just tell us when someone actually signs!!!it would make me a better person to live with and you would have a lot of free time.

Ok it's about we were honest with ourselves! Our so called famed blackbox has done the business in the past no doubt about but your only as good as your last signing! And an 19 million carillio in my view he wasn't ever in our blackbox system fact Les Reed got lazy didn't do his home work on him put simply he isn't worth 5 million in today's transfer money mark my words Osvaldo mark two! I also wonder why it seen none of my fellow saint fan do their own scouting! Instead I only see weakminded followers copy papertalk! All you guys worry me! You really do! you are sheep... Please ask yourself what do we need and who should go! For me it's to go... Boufal, Davis, jordy C, Carrillo, Long, Redmond. who needs to come in a young international right back. Not sure who yet... to honest but two must have centre backs are Johnthan T.a.h of 96 handover the German u21 is the next big thing he's valued at 30 million transfermarkt today! so will be valued at 80 million in two season time! Then are is Joris Gnagnon anther centre half value at 15 million today. Both are aged 21 ball players, fast and tall Joris is french and plays for Ren. So come on guy don't be followers be leaders.

This thread is going to be a disappointment for all those people who say we don't have any ambition and aren't signing new players. Only one signing so far...but it's still June... If Mark Hughes is "re-freshing the squad" then expect some movement out also. We've saved some money on the departing Pied and Gardos salaries, and Clasie may well move back to the Netherlands and may well see one or two others going out on loan. Looking back to the time that Koeman came to the club, he brought in 7 or 8 new players in his first season, and they weren't all "expensive signings" either. Even if we can sign new players for "modest" fees they still have to be paid. A player on (say) £40K a week will cost the club £6 million over a 3 year period, even if they spend half the season on the bench, or in the treatment room. Whilst the Manchester clubs and the Chelsea's and the Liverpool's can throw money around like a man with 6 arms, the rest of the League must learn to live more modestly. I'm sure we'll end up breaking the transfer record again, we might also expect to pick a few bargain deals along the way. More please.

@the_saint.. oh dear what a terrible time those sceptics have had over the past 10 years.. all that success rising up those pesky leagues, and the 2 wembley trips, and what with that awful qualification for Europe .. twice... and all those top international players getting signed by our lousy board, and what with the tediously fantastic training facility they built. Yeah.. they are so right to be worried about what happened in the past...

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process.
