Coleman: No to Dale
Coleman: No to Dale
Thursday, 19th Jan 2012 17:34

The lovely SSU people are now saying that John Coleman has rejected the chance to manage Rochdale after rejecting the terms that were offered to him.

Since the initial story broke yesterday afternoon, there were denials from Accrington which seemed to get more and more flimsy with each passing comment, but it seems now that Coleman has rejected the chance to replace Steve Eyre.

It would seem that an offer was made for Coleman and his assistant Jimmy Bell, but the move has fallen through after the two parties could not agree terms.

This of course now leaves Chris Beech still as caretaker manager without a win to his name and fully aware that the club have been rejected twice in their attempts to replace Steve Eyre.

Isn't that what happened with Keith Hill and Barnsley and how did that turn out.

There are many better managers than Coleman who are out of work. This proves that the board and particularly the chairman is being frivolous with what little money the club has. It's time the chairman was replaced and someone with business sense appointed. Why has Billy Davies not been appraoched? Nothing is written in stone that he would turn down our best offer. When all said and done, a wage is better than nothing.

I think the problem is how much or how little cash we have left after the SE debacle - not only would he have got compo but he signed at least 10 players who never saw the first team yet were taking wages for 6 months!!
Surely Coleman cannot be on what SE was.....................
Unfortunately Beech will take us down as he will keep trying short term fixes - we need to build a proper squad for arguably the most important 20 games in the club's history

It became clear to me after seeing the pre-season friendlies that I had made a mistake in renewing my season ticket so early. I believed then that 20th place in the league would be a success. Now Dale need promotion form to just keep out of the bottom 6 or 7. Maybe I'm a pessimist but let's resign ourselves to next season in the 4th Division again. At least the crowds were a bit better and morale was higher when we were going strong in 07-08, 08-09 and 09-10. It could be a lot worse - look at Plymouth, Stockport & Darlington to quote just a few. And remember too that all these were in the 3rd Division not too long ago.

Just to put this story to bed once and for all, here is a quote from the Accrington Stanley web site at ..........
http://www.accringtonstanley.co.uk/index.php/newsy/4550
"Accrington Stanley have received no approach from any club for manager John Coleman.
John and his assistant Jimmy Bell signed new contracts taking them through to at least 2015 only just over 12 months ago.
Accrington Stanley will make no further comment on this matter at this time."

So let Sky Sports stop all this scaremongering.
