Bring back the playoffs between the third bottom team and the third from the top of the division below. One game. Wembley Yellow cards appealable is a good shout |

PSR No issue with preventing Newcastle, Man City etc hoovering up all the best players, but just looking at our current dilemma shows how broken it is. Modest amount to spend, but can’t buy players or sack a manager because of lossses made by the previous regime. There must be dozens of cases like us up and down the land. I wouldn’t abolish international football, but I’d shorten the league season (no international breaks) and play it in set windows between seasons. Qualifiers one summer, tournaments the next. |

The manager publicly begging West Brom for a job will do that to a team |

I think that would have happened last night, had we played like we did in the derby. I was fully expecting ‘Williams, Williams (or even Coleman, Coleman) sort it out’ chants. Didn’t happen because of the way the game transpired. There were mistakes, but the effort and intensity was back. Fans aren’t going to get on a teams back when they are giving their all. Plus the ref became a target and rightly so. |
| Forum Reply | 13,373 at 17:41 22 Jan 2025
I get all of that. Not everybody is that invested in it. We don’t have a divine right to good crowds, but if anyone does consider themself a committed fan, genuine fan, whatever you want to call it, now is the time to get down there. |

Blaming the pitch is gibberish. The ref, only on this one occasion, I would have sympathy with him. He’s got a nasty habit of blaming anyone and anything apart from himself. Although I was behind him until the West Brom comments, I’ve always criticised him for that. Martin and Cooper both did it too and it annoyed me then as well. |

Plenty of valid reasons people don’t go, but the indisputable fact is our crowds would be bigger if we were winning. For me, the team being on a bad run isn’t one of them. I agree, I’d like him to get rid of Williams too, but I won’t stop going if he doesn’t. |

Of course. Everyone can decide not to go, but it will be a bit rich when those same people complain on deadline day. I take your point about season tickets. Commercial department- yes. Certainly needs an overhaul. I’m not defending the club here, I’m saying the fans have to play our part too. In the Petty days, we all reacted by basically bullying him out of the club. Nowadays it seems easier to just watch on the red button, maybe start going again if we put a run together. |
| Forum Reply | 13,373 at 15:42 22 Jan 2025
Can he? Not being facetious, I just don’t know the ins and outs of our PSR situation. It certainly won’t be helped by people not turning up when we’re going through a rough spell. |
| Forum Reply | January Transfer Thread at 15:37 22 Jan 2025
Bianchini, Peart-Harris and Cullen all had good chances last night. Of course we’d be much better with a proper #10 but strikers who consistently make good runs will generally get rewarded. The crossing I agree on. Grimes put a great ball in for the goal, but we’re generally poor at it from set pieces as well as open play. We should be a real threat from corners and free kicks with Darling, Cabango, Bianchini and Peart-Harris in there. |

Times like these we have to get behind the club and the team. Levein and Kaplan have gone. Coleman at least deserves the benefit of the doubt. People that have stopped going because they don’t like the chairman/manager/playing style, it was on the red button, it was cold, etc… Will be the same people complaining when we don’t sign anyone. Hate to say it, but that was a really poor showing by our fans last night. I can’t remember it being that sparse for a league game. |
| Forum Reply | Our crap pitch at 15:21 22 Jan 2025
To be fair, it was far more playable to us than the surfaces at CCS and Fratton Park. The ref beat us last night. Our attitude beat us in those games. Only Williams and the players to blame for that |
| Forum Reply | Our crap pitch at 12:51 22 Jan 2025
You saw what happens when we don’t at the start of last season |
| Forum Reply | Swansea City v Sheffield Utd: Match day thread at 06:47 22 Jan 2025
Completely agree. I thought he’d lost the players, still not convinced he hasn’t, but you can’t argue with the commitment last night. Game hinged on decisions and we got completely shafted. I still want him gone, he showed his hand, we know now he’ll waffle on about building things, but he’ll be off as soon as a slightly better offer comes along. The frustrating thing, is if we’d put that much in against Cardiff, Portsmouth (and Hull although that was before his episode), we’d quite likely have beaten all of them. |

Ospreys are leaving. Not sure exactly when, but yes it should help the pitch. It looked like an allotment last night. You’re right, it’s not conducive to passing football. Not sure on other teams pitches, They rarely look like that though. |

I’ll be the second. Plenty can’t appreciate how difficult it is to get halfway through the season with next to nothing beyond the starting eleven. That’s before we consider the lack of creativity and the inexperience up front. That being said, it went off a cliff immediately after his imbecilic comments. We’ve been spanked by two of the weakest teams in the division. There is a clear line in the sand from when we went to a mid table team who would win as many as we lose and invariably compete, to the shell of a team we are at the moment. |

Luke Cundle did this well for us. Nothing spectacular or eye catching, but short, simple passes that moved us up the field centrally and he’d then find space and ask for the ball in a more advanced position. Not saying he is the player we need, but we need someone who does that. |

This is another example of why PSR needs to be reviewed urgently. He hasn’t shown a lot, certainly not enough to be tried in central midfield in my opinion. But he’s on his first senior contract, can’t be a huge earner and did come with a reputation from the under 21s. Without PSR, this is a season long loan to a club like Orient all day long. See if he can do it in central midfield with regular game time. Bring him back here the following season if he does well. But we can’t do that, we need him gone just to be able to bring players in this window. Not because we can’t afford to, but because we’ve got a box to tick. It’s a shambles. |
