I just hope this means we can now finally streamline our processes and foster a collaborative environment that drives innovative solutions across the workforce.

To think if his contract wasn't running down, we'd probably be talking £3m+. Wow.

Zan Celar
at 11:34 19 Jul 2024

One thing evident from the highlight real was he was banging them in right AND left foot, a two-footed player you say? Love to see it.

Something that’s always baffled me about top level professional footballers is their often absolute reliance on one foot. Whole team moves break down (or not even start) just because a player is not confident enough to use their left peg to play an easy ball forward, instead plays a safe backward right footed pass and the move is dead. Then there’s that outside of the foot cross, fancy, but is the outcome any better than if you just used the proper foot? Don't get me started on the Rabona..

I mean it’s not like they’re an octopus or spider with 8 legs where maybe that 4th one on the left is a little bit rusty, they’ve got TWO! Playing football is their chosen craft since childhood, the one thing they’ve always done, by 18 they’ve likely put in +5,000 hours of practice.. and still.

Absolutely mental.

Looks like we're using the Armstrong funds to replace him with Celar. More experienced, better goal record and more suited to our style of play as the focal striker.

In a 433 or 4231 the central striker usually requires a certain complimentary skillset, of which Armstrong didn't have. Frey, Dykes & from what I've seen of this new chap all seem to fit that similar mould.

Karamoko Dembele.. wasn't he the same age making debut for Celtic. Now 21 playing for Blackpool, though he did look far too good for league 1 last season.

I was thinking to myself the other day, hypothetically speaking if we got £2.5m for both Sinclair and Dykes combined that would be a decent deal considering the circumstances / expected goal return etc.

To get £2.5m for just one of them is like ‘f**k this I’m done here one-way ticket to Rio lads lads lads’ type of thing! No, but seriously, how much are tickets to Rio..

The sensible move would be to sign a longer deal with us, eat a spoon of humble pie and realise you're not as good as you think you are / not as bad as they say you are. Push for a season long loan to higher end league 1 club, get your head down & play consistently 30+ games (none of this bit-part 20 min cameo nonsense, teaches nothing).

If you back yourself you'll come back with 10+ goals, better developed with more experience and higher reputation, still 21. This moves just screams of fast cash inflated ego / poor guidance. If we get anything near £1m that's great.

Used in the right system, against specific opponents he can be impactful, by impactful we're talking getting the team up there, winning corners / throw-ins, running the channel and maybe a goal here and there.

Those players do have a place in teams, as long as everyone is on board with their limitations and expectations are moderate. I could see a League 1 / lower champ player in there sure.

The thing with physical attributes is that when they are matched (thinking Diaby sheff wed at home), you need something else to fall back on (technical ability / game intelligence etc), which right now is lacking.

Wish him all the best but feel he's not a Marti type player. In a 433 or 4231 his attributes just don't compliment the team well enough. Impact sub maybe, but evidently he feels better than that though i believe he needs to learn his trade at a lower level.

Potter seems to be the bookies favorite as i doubt they'll go down the foreign root. He did have good pedigree from time at Brighton, somewhat tarnished by time at Chelsea.

Dyche probably too negative.

Howe has a decent job i doubt will give up and stock may still be high enough the next time around the job is available.

Probably too soon for O'Neil likewise Carrick or Robins with no top level experience, then we're really scraping the barrel :)

Of course loads of managers would want it, however how many TOP managers would want it that would actually be a good fit. I think we sometimes overhype the draw of the England job for foreign managers, the top guys already earn those £££ mentioned so i doubt that's a deciding factor.

Ancelloti, Pep, Klopp, Tuchel (all of whom have never managed their own national team therefore i assume their own country would take priority), i doubt would be that interested. Realistically its only Howe or Potter from the Englishmen, unless we go full on development mode and promote from U21 which is too risky as we have a team that's ready for success now.

Adrian Durham / Talksport - A good summary
at 10:59 15 Jul 2024

Agree that they were there for the talking after we equalized, and we were fortunate enough to still be in the game having the opportunity to potentially win it.

Even when teams are in the ascendancy like we were, a move breaks down and the game 'resets', e.g. goal kick / throw-in to opposition. We know how good Spain are with the ball and wont just kick it back to us (like we often did), we then naturally have to 'reset' into our shape. Is that just the natural flow of the game Vs a better opponent than us or a conscious decision deciding not to attack..

Its not like we were sitting back camped out on the edge of our box, for their goal we had quite a high line, just seemed too disjointed and fatigued to defend it properly. 4 passes from the CB edge of their box and they're in.

A manager with that positive mentality yes, of the English candidates out there possibly only Howe fits this this whilst also having a decent level of experience, nobody else jumping out.

Having a Klopp, Mourinho, Tuchel etc. would just feel weird for some reason, like we're trying to buy our way out. Likewise why would they even want it, when they're most likely in line for their own country national team job.

As for De La Fuente i would say he has zero interest in managing England, and why should he.

Exactly, and therein lies part of the gamble, a player in his 'prime years' (after one good full season) untested at the top level has got to hit the ground running. Worth a gamble sure, but not at prices like those mentioned who had a few more yrs growth potential.

Some good points above, also in the eyes of a potential buyer he will be 27 in September meaning reduced potential for sell-on or time to learn trade at higher level (which he has never played at) + how much further room for development is there at that age. Whilst not slow, he isn't the quickest and will only get slower. Prem is unforgiving.

Cash in now and reinvest in another 3-4 renovation projects.

WTF Cardiff... seriously.. Cardiff City, come on Chris.

They are bang average and actually lost more games than us last season, he would only go there for one of two reasons. 1) They've shown him a dossier of top quality 'dead cert' transfer targets that'll dramatically overhaul their squad where Chris will fit right in to a free flowing attacking system and be the jewel in their crown to lead them into the playoffs, whilst paying him a fair whack.

Or 2), they're just paying him a fair whack, more than anyone else offered. Great ambition son.

Signing on fee + high wage for being a free, what we thinking £20k p/w?
