Your final paragraph hits the bail squarely on the head,

Question is, why can so few of our fans see this?

Agree 100% with your last sentence,

Who has the contacts & can hit the ground running quick enough to make use of the January transfer window?

Who most importantly understands the club (and knows its under-performing staff) well enough to do a cull should we be relegated?

When you're up against it, always go for the tried & tested option even if its an 8/10, rather than gambling looking for a 10/10, and hitting zero,

Our owners have fallen for too much patter from too many people for too long Ferdinand (even tho I like the bloke), Beale (understandable maybe), Nourry (completely inexplicable) etc,

Sometimes in life the hard truth is what you need and our owners were told it before by Warburton and they put their heads in the sand,

I was told they belatedly wised up to Ferdinand & his Academy cronies, after letting Warburton go, maybe they'll realise he had their best interests at heart, even if he was thee only one not blowing smoke up their backsides like everyone else (many posters including Northern will have noticed the carry on of Lee, Les etc around Reuben)

Because I hope our Owners will finally see sense and realise.....

A City & Guilds in Painting & Decorating and a UEFA Coaching Badge are not relevant experience for a role as a DoF.

Neither is a recently acquired Oxbridge degree or a short stint as a Recruitment Consultant.

Only quote I remember from my first MD was...'you'll soon find out common sense is not that common', I'm just hoping owners have finally wised up.

In very recent times, but amazing how that unbelievable mark stood unremarked on by our press for so long.

Paula Radcliffe?

20 years later even fully charged Kenyans in go faster shoes working as a team weren't getting close to her Marathon record?

Hmmmm

If they force Cifuentes out & keep Nourry in place & think the fans will swallow that they're more naive than even we think.

The fans need to make their voice heard at the Stoke game,

Bcos if they force Cifuentes out, keep Nourry and don't bring in Warburton, can you imagine the mood in the Dressing Room and in the Stands?

I agree,

But perversely Cifuentes might welcome the air-cover in not having to manage the likes of Nourry, Belk, our Academy Team and just enjoy focusing on coaching the 1st team?

While Warburton works on trying to strengthen the 1st team squad with loans for January?

Cifuentes has surely seen enough now to realise it's about limiting his reputational damage and getting out in a year or so unscathed and re-employable.

Yes, but he was available for a significant part of the 2nd Half of last season iirr and even a half fit Chris Willock is a great asset in this division, we don't have him this year, one of the reasons I think we're bang in trouble.

Ned, my thoughts are:

Q) Warburton wants another Managers Job
A) That's his preference but may accept DoF role working with Cifuentes, who may have had enough already (can you imagine being told at work you're new boss will be a 26 year old with zero experience, anyone sane would just think wtf)

Q) Did'nt burn his bridges
A) They both seem to speak positively of each other

Q) Other experienced options
A) QPR must be seen as a basket case by now, we're a cash-cow rather than a career move for anyone with any integrity & ability (we need both)

Steve's another top fella, but Warburton has ten times the experience of Steve and is just on a totally different level,

We need a strong character who can manage upwards, downwards & sideways, and that's not Steve, as competent as he is in any set given role.

Northern,

Your 'So This is Goodbye' was strangely cathartic and should be read by all on this Forum,

Your Alan Curbishley prophecy is unnervingly close to the mark,

If the fans turn on our decent but hopelessly naive and optimistic owners, we could go full Charlton in the coming decade as we're a financial basket case for the foreseeable future,

Whether or not our fans believe Warburton is the all-encompassing panacea as I do or not,

We are fast approaching our Charlton sliding doors moment, we need to be careful we don't prompt a further decade that will be worse than the last one.

The real problem...is the owners are hopeless optimists like us fans,

Who saw Andersen on his debut lift his head up, see a man in the box, play a pin-point measured cross and think, this is it, we've fixed it....

Who saw Luke Amos, break a line in midfield, run on to receive a return pass, score and think, wow, this is it, we solved it,

We all did, as our standards have been set so low we have become like our Owners, hopeless optimists, always looking for the next short-term,

Our Owners are good people (look at Charlton) but like Charlton's sliding doors moments with Alan Curbishley (read Clive's prophetic words on Warbuton's departure, a strangely carthartic read) we had ours with Mark Warburton,

Our Owners are like us, good people, with good intentions, floundering around looking for the simple solution,

They're hopeless optimists and with that comes hopeless naivety, look at our DoF appointments, they're star-fxxkers, they want to hang around with Les, with Charlie, they're fans,

They need an adult in the room, who says lads we've got no infrastructure, no plan, this medicine might taste or sound nice (eg your Academy is dog-shit & those guys you really like who you think are your mates are mugging you-off), the medicine might even hurt initially, but this plan will make you better.

Fan Mobilisation - Nourry Out, yes, then what....it has to be Warburton In....whether it be to turn us around with his contacts like he can short-term and keep us in the championship or to bring us out of League 1 on a long-term sustainable footing.

Nourry out / Warburton In....is the only lifeboat on our sinking ship.

Mark Warburton is the answer to many if not all our weaknesses & failings.

Alex Ferguson raised standards across every department at United and if what I was told by a member of staff at ours is right was the person who insisted we place crowd control barriers outside our main entrance so their players could walk in unaccosted by fans,

Warburton is this person, he upsets lazy under-performing types, in whatever department,

I have hope Reuben has more sense than a lot of our fans with their...but we tailed, but we went sideways, but he raised his voice at the Academy staff,

Ffs, wake up, see whats in front of your eyes, every department bar the Community Dept is an effing car crash.

Doak run us ragged from the 1st minute and I can't recall Chair doing anything to stop him, he had a free run on Santos from the off.

Saito would have been far preferable as we saw week previous as he's disciplined ,can tackle and is quick, Chair good lad, is none of these things.

Get the basics right and then play.

Of course we do,

I've just run a stats based model and it tells me his average league placing was 11th, above our historic average of 16th,

I went to one of his first games at Borehamwood and we had Oteh up front and they were Non League and played us off the park,

Came away thinking we needed a miracle to stay up & with his contacts and the likes of Barbet, Ball etc he did work a miracle that season.

Simon Jordan called it right about our owners and our fans who really should have more sense.

I was confident we would stay up last year, I am not this year.

Didn't he bring in Barbet & Willock,

Just imagine our collection of unemployables finding a Yohan Barbet now?

But we do know we'd be in a far better position than we now find ourselves,

In the same way I called a certain player as a complete wrong un long before he was abusing us,

I've set up & run companies all my life, many times the size of our club, you learn to spot a good un from a wrong un,

You look at your weaknesses and you learn how to supplement them, Warburton covered almost all our voids and weaknesses,

I just fail to understand how our fans couldn't see it then and still refuse to see it now.

How can someone like Warburton steeped in football, from youth level, grass-roots, non-league, coaching & management, with a successful career in finance, managing dozens of people and hundreds of millions of pounds who knows our owners, our club, our academy staff, most importantly our woefully inept stats & recruitment departments.....

Not be the best qualified person for the job?

Am I seriously missing something here?

Oh wait, lets give our start-fxxker owners (anyone read about Nabisco's CEO in Barbarians at The Gate?) media friendly nice guy Les who's done some useless UEFA classroom tutorials or some over confident geek from St Paul's a go and see what happens.

If our fans had any sense they'd be singing Mark Warburtons name for 90 minutes at our next home match, but oh, remember that period we play sideways too much, I can just imagine Charlton fans having that gripe after their last two decades.

Not wishing to be contrary, but for me, this is where so many either don't see the bigger picture or their own preferences blind them to the real facts,

One of these players takes the vast majority of our set-pieces & corners so you would expect that player (Chair) to have significantly better stats.

One of these players has suffered with a recurring hamstring injury over his last two seasons which has undoubtedly impacted his stats,

And I think your stats for Willock in 2021-22 prove a fully fit Chris Willock was contributing 1 in 2 goal involvements whereas on average Ilias Chair contributes 1 in 3.3, including taking all our set-pieces & corners.

This thread is'nt about Chair mind, as love his work ethic, even if I do despair with his lack of end product and 1 in 6.5 goal return.

I get we're now a team short in stature but if we are to stay up we need to give Chair a free role and hopefully fully & finally realise his potential.
