And now for something positive
at 16:45 20 Oct 2024

So I know right now thing are pretty grim and for us who have been for many years we can dissect the performances of individuals and lament certain things but I was sat there last night thinking it wasn’t all bad and there’s lots of us to be proud of and here’s why.

So as the kick offs have been messed about so much this was the first game we could get to this season so myself brother and stepdad were all planning to go along with my 9 year old and my 7 year old nephew who has been a few times. Then my sister said she’d attend her first game in nearly 25 years to have a day out with her boy. Finally my lads best mate whose family are West Ham was also added he has been to a few games before at Southend once at England and got taken to his first West Ham game v Ipswich a few weeks ago. He’s been a bit upset due to some kids at school and his Mum asked if we would take him too.

So we arrived around 1:30pm at White City into glorious sunshine and made our way to The Springbok (I know it’s the Queens Tavern now but it’ll always be The Springbok to me) Had a drink £8 for a Madri!!!

Anyway we then took the boys to the football bit on South Af road as PBlock Junior and my nephew always do that and the wanted to show the other lad. As we get there Jonathan Varane was signing autographs and posing for pics which they duly had and then they were playing on some of the skills circuits they put on. The 3 of them were doing football tennis when a couple of the development squad lads joined in Alex Aroha and Harry Murphy. Both were brilliant with the boys and for kids of 8/9 to be able to have a kick about with Professional Footballers is something a fan of Man United Chelsea etc can only dream of but they got to do it.

After this we went in the ground in the Lower Loft for the match and they all loved Dembele and his goal they all loved Michy as he is a beast and Saito because he’s really fast and tricky

They were disappointed to lose but we hung about for a beer in the blue and white after and waited for the crowds to disappear before going round to try and catch some players for autographs and pics

They managed to get loads and got signatures on their shirts and in their autograph books. All of the players were great with them and happily posed for pics etc we done this a few times as this is what my lad and Nephew love meeting them only ever been blanked by one player Leon Balogun I’m looking at you!

PBlock Junior managed to get Ilias to sign his 10 Chair shirt which he was delighted with. I think they met Walsh Madsen Bennie, Celar, Chair Dunne Fox Cook Saito Frey Santos special mention to Paul Nardi who was holding his young baby and then passed the baby over to a family member so he could sign and have a picture

After this it was back to Liverpool St for McDonalds and on the C2C train back to Leigh on Sea

My wife picked me Junior and his mate up and took him back to his as my eldest was hanging out there after the girls had done their girlie day. His Mum said she had never seen him so happy after a football match and asked him what was better. His reply was that it was the best one because you were so close to the players and the noise was better and he got to play with professionals and meet real footballers etc etc

So while us older fans may say yesterday was sh!t and as a club we are doing lots wrong the club are also doing a lot right, and 3 young lads from Essex had the best day and in a few years they won’t remember the result but they will remember the memories

His Mum text my Mrs this morning saying he’s asking when he can go again

Keep the faith all

My take
at 22:53 21 Feb 2023

So Gaz has now been appointed

Firstly there is part of me that’s excited, I remember his debut v Blackpool at home in about 200 degrees. He scored and was essentially a Tasmanian Devil on the the right hand side which pretty much set the path for his career here, loved him

But why now?

We could have got him post JFH, Holloway, McClaren, Warbs, Bromley Mick or Critchley

At points going for him would have made sense but now seems like the powers that be playing to the gallery

People going on about “style of play” I don’t care to a point. When Gaz was part of Ollys team you’d often see a long diag played to him to knock down to Furs /Gallen then play from there. At times we’ve done this in our most successful teams Heidar was always an out ball

I want to see passion, hard work and a desire to win and if not win that game to go again
and win the next. I couldn’t give a monkeys if you have 80% possession and your predicted goals are 2.88, it’s horse sh!t

I’m not saying we are QPR and we play 44 f’in 2 Mike Bassett style but someone who can get us to be more positive will be a huge breath of fresh air

My boy cried at the weekend, absolutely sobbed (he’d had half term and was tired) but he cried. He wrote a letter to.a player as part of a school project and never got a reply) but while watching soccer Saturday he got so frustrated. I told him as a Rangers fan you sometimes have to go with it even though it’s hard

Tonight my wife is in London was cooking dinner for the kids and told him Ainswiorth was the new Manager. 10 minutes later he walks in the kitchen, ‘Dad he scored some worldies’ (been looking on you tube)

Served his dinner up and as I walked into the room

“Gareth Ainsworths Blue and White Army”

Right behind you Gaz!

Blue and White Bar
at 09:09 21 Oct 2022

Taking my lad to his 1st game of the season tomorrow

Sal eats in the Upper Loft

Quick question can you still drink in the Blue and White bar or do you have to have a membership for it?

I know there was talk of it in the summer but can’t remember if it went ahead or was scrapped ?

It took some time but he is 💯 in now.

He got the new away shirt with Chair 10 on it at his request and was asking me last night if he could write to Ilias to tell him how great he thinks he is

Has anyone done this before if so how did you do it and did you get a reply?

Any ideas / suggestions welcomed

Boys 1st game
at 13:28 15 Feb 2022

Hi all

I’m taking my boy to Hull on Saturday but had a couple of questions that some be able to help with.

He’s under 8 (he’s 6) but does the Under 8’s go free only apply in the Lower Loft looking at the tickets available there’s some right at the front but the weather is meant to be pretty dreadful so don’t want the poor kid getting drenched. Is the front of the lower loft protected from the elements always sat in the Upper Loft so not sure

Also what time do the players arrive for the match as want to see if he can get some autographs if possible and do they still park by the School end?

Any help appreciated

Help required QPR Teddy
at 09:58 24 Jun 2019

Hi all

Totally random ask but I am trying to get hold of a QPR teddy

A few years ago around 2013 when I found out my little girl was on her way I bought a QPR teddy from the shop. It was a brown bear with the club crest on the foot (Bristol’s creation) and we called it Loftus (subliminal messaging and all that) it also has a blue and white scarf and I think came with a blue hat as well

Now for about 5 years this teddy has largely been ignored but now she and my little boy are having nightly dramas about who gets to have Loftus the bear in their bed.

My boy has his birthday coming up and has declared he wants his own Loftus the bear but the club shop don’t sell it anymore there’s nothing on eBay etc so I am wondering if anyone has one they no longer want.

Can post a picture later if that helps but if anyone could help keep my sanity I’d be happy to pay to take it off your hands

Cheers

FAO Parents Autism?
at 19:32 6 Feb 2017

Evening.

I just wondered if any fellow R's have Children with Autism. My wife is becoming more convinced that our little girl (3 years old) may be on the spectrum

She has shown me some information on it and there are parts that I can see where she is coming from (random running / skipping up and down sort of one wall to another) repeating phrases she has heard randomly and maybe a couple of other things. For every trait she does display there 10 on the checklist she doesn't.

I'm not someone to bury their head in the sand id do anything for her but equally I kind of think she's just being a 3 year old and the quirky little things she does she may well grow out of. It seems to be so down to personal opinion of the expert you see that I think trying to check at 3 is a bit young as they all develop in different ways some kids do things quicker than others and vice versa.

I don't want to let my little girl down but equally don't want someone labelling her at 3

Any experience appreciated

Now the dust has settled
at 19:27 1 Sep 2015

So now the window has 'slammed shut' ( copyright SSN) where do we think we currently are?

At the start of the season there were many posts around how we would do etc and plenty of people were predicting falling through the division / mid table if we were lucky

We find ourselves going into the International break 4th in the table but more importantly we now know the shape of the squad for the coming months.

In my opinion we should now be looking to push on and make a big claim to get out of the division.

I don't think anyone believed back in the summer that Charlie, Phillips , Fer and perhaps Green would stay but amazingly they have. With some promising additions such as Luongo, Chery and maybe the two new Watford lads we have as good as first eleven ( on paper) than anyone in this division for my reckoning, maybe defence is a slight worry but when the Prem sides name their 25 man squads we can maybe get a couple of good loan signings as we did in the previous 2 promotions ( Walker, Routledge under Warnock, Morrison under Redknapp the rest of his were middling to poor after that) then perhaps we might surprise ourselves.

We've got rid of a lot of deadwood, sure there's a bit more to go but maybe things are looking up, this is probably I feel the best transfer window we've done in I don't know how long?

Due to the birth of my 2nd kid recently I haven't managed to get down to any games so far despite having a season ticket but I can't wait for my first game under the lights against Blackburn
