Long time lurkers....dont be shy.
at 02:19 2 Sep 2024

Been on the message board as far back as the Rivals days, love Clive's write ups and found this message board always has a great spectrum of different opinions on QPR, football in general, politics and of course cheese.

Used to post a lot more when I lived in London and went to games, these days live in Australia, i get to watch us far more on the telly, but last game i was at was Oxford away preseason 2019. That said, since 2006 I've only seen us lose once live, away at Norwich, NYD 2011 or 2012.

Even in the darkest days of QPR over the last few seasons, this message board has always provided good insight into the direction of our club, for better or worse.

Tickets on sale 8am Tuesday. Rumour has it, 10 gigs including Glastonbury and Manchester.

10 nights at Wembley, now that wouldn't be bad going

Cheers Nix,

Is there any reason why the new CEO is deciding against publishing the length of contracts or contact extensions?

Does anyone know how long his contract is? I just went back and saw we signed him on a free transfer, but it didn't state how long it was for?

Going off his Instagram page, he does seem to have a real affinity for the club, but this is also his livelihood so hoping we're able to get him signed to a half decent deal.

Don't understand not liking West Ham, they're a proper London team with a decent following home and away. Have met loads of West Ham over they years and they've always come across as decent fans who have nothing against QPR.

There are literally 50 or 60 clubs I'd hate before West Ham.

RIP Sean O'Brien

I grew up with him, played football with him at Acton-Ealing Whistlers and was one of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet.

Was Rangers through and through, and he fought for as long as he could, I spoke to him on Friday, not knowing that this was going to be the last time, i saw his Twitter update on Monday, but still thought he had a few more days/weeks of fight left as he'd continued to prove the doctors wrong time and time again.

His spirit was infectious, and he never ever ever gave up hope!

RIP OBI 1

I don't really believe that you're qualified to be the final authority on my friendship group, but no doubt you'll claim that you are. Well done, you're quite amazing.

Have you thought about what another poster commented on, that the QPR lads were outnumbered by the Orient fans, who goaded them and then came off worse. I know you think that the QPR lads are the lowest of the low and should have all got the maximum sentences available, and that they should be in prison until they're old and grey, and again that's up to you,and if it makes you sleep better at night, i'm pleased for you.

Another poster also asked if you actually attend games, i'd also like to know simply out of interest. I hope that you've never experienced football related violence, and that you never do, because you never know what could happen, you might find yourself facing a serious criminal charge for simply defending yourself or others in your group(no, i'm not trying to say that's what happened here)

Final point, due to your strong opposition to these lads ever being allowed back to watch QPR, have you contacted the club to start a campaign to get them life bans? It's something you clearly feel very strongly about.

As for me, i'm off on holidays now until 1st Feb so i'll wish you a merry Christmas and hope you have a fantastic time sitting in your ivory tower dispensing your judgement on all wrong doers over the festive period.

You keep referring to them as mates of mine, they are lads i know through watching QPR. The same lads that followed us around the country when we were stuck in League 1. By using the term "mates" or "friends" you're attempting to undermine my argument by insinuating that i cannot be objective in my opinions regarding their sentences.

What you fail to understand is i have a different opinion to you. You keep putting your important points in italics, i'm not sure why but you seem to think this makes your point far more valid.

I happen to know far more about this case than you do, now of course you're going to play the mate card, and that's your prerogative but 18 months for violent conduct really is harsh if you know the facts of the case. Of course you'll jump up and down and scream that it's too lenient, and that they should have been given life or exiled to the colonies.

With regard to the bans by the club, i think being banned by the courts for 8 years is quite punishment enough. No doubt you'll be calling for life time bans, even for those given a non custodial sentences or the lad found not guilty.

I hardly think i was trawling for support. I don't think i need to trawl for support, it's highly unlikely that anyone reading this message board works for the Court of Appeal. I just have a different viewpoint to you QPRCity, i know that it's hard for you to contemplate that some people might disagree with you, but this is a fact of life. Secondly, i wouldn't call any of them my mates. I went to school with one and have known the other 4 from QPR over the last 15 years or so

I think your question regarding my "position" is a joke. I don't have a magic wand and can suddenly make all of the undesirables disappear, much to your dismay. Even i agreed with your view point, what would it change? Would those who engage in football violence suddenly stop going or stop associating with our club because i said so?

I stand by my viewpoint, they were given overly harsh sentences because its was football related. If you don't agree with me, that's fine, i couldn't care less. What does my head in is people like you who are so quick to vilify when you don't actually know anything about the case, save for what you've read in the tabloid press.

You my friend are a buffoon of the highest order.

I don't know what happened to the Orient lads.

I don't think there was any pre planning at all. I think they mouthed off, and then came unstuck(no, i'm not condoning what happened, merely stating a fact)

Benny, i agree in part. The sentences for peados and rapists are far too lenient.

That said, some of the lads convicted in this particular case were sent away for 18 months for throwing one punch. It's not equitable. If the exact same situation happened away from a football scenario then there is not a chance in hell the sentences would have been this severe.

How on earth do you know they did those things in the name of our club? How do you know what was said by the Orient fans that let to the confrontation and ultimately the fight between the TWO GROUPS? I think you've taken the view that this was some sort of unprovoked attack on some shirt wearing, flag waving fans with their kids. Far from it.

I know exactly where i stand, I don't need to take advice from you thanks.

You can keep your self righteous preaching to yourself.

I'd hardly call engaging in a debate on an internet forum a protest, but what ever floats your boat mate.

"From the little i know of the case"

Well that seems to sum you up quite well there. I'm not professing to know the inner workings of the legal system, but as I've said on numerous occasions, in my opinion they were given unduly harsh sentence, probably to deter others from taking part in football related violence. The media and the government often need a convenient scapegoat and football fans have served that role well for a number of years.

As for your final remark, i won't even dignify it with a response. I'll merely stand by my original observations of you.

Thanks for spelling out the word, without your help, i feel i'd have got lost in your response.

I'm not for one minute denying what they did was wrong, i'm simply arguing that their sentences(like virtually all sentences associated with football disorder) are unduly harsh. Yes, they committed an offence, but the lads they attacked were certainly not random shirt wearing fans who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, far from it in fact.

As for the club issuing bans, whats that got to do with anything? Some of them have been banned by the courts for up to 8 years, doesn't this suffice?

As for me denying the facts of the case, please show me one piece of evidence of me doing just that.

Moron.

If you've had enough, why come back onto this thread and tell everyone? Why not just ignore it?

You've got your opinion, and I've got mine. On this matter, it's highly unlikely we are going to agree, which is fine by me.

I agree, if they think their sentences are too harsh(which they no doubt do) then they are able to appeal.

I'm glad you feel strongly enough to condemn men you've never met.

Echoing what Luke said, i know a few of the lads and to say they've been made a scapegoat is a massive understatement.

I'm not one for trying to compare crimes and then look at the sentences handed down, but one only needs to look at the NUMEROUS examples of where pedophiles and rapists have been given far shorter sentences. Shouldn't the law reflect the seriousness of the offence? No one in their right mind can tell me that two groups of football lads who have a fight(which both sides were equally culpable) deserve more time inside than a man who molests or rapes an innocent woman or child.

The courts in this instance have a lot to answer for, 6 years is far too harsh.

Whisky Drinkers?
at 02:16 17 Dec 2015

Just recently got in to drinking Scotch and over the last few months have been slowly building a collection. For me, i've tried to get at least two different whiskys from each of the main producing regions of Scotland. From Speyside i've got Glenfarclas 15 year old which is a lovely drop and the The Balvenie 21 year old, not cheap but a cracker. From the Highlands, you can't go wrong with anything from Glenmorangie, got two or three of their bottles and bar far the easiest to drink. If you're trying to get something different get a bottle or two from Islay, my personal favourite would be Bruichladdich Laddie, don't be put off by the ugly bottle it's a real winner and not that expensive. Recently got two bottles of Japanese whisky and so far have been very impressed, picked up the Hakushu reserve and the Hibiki Harmony.

Whilst i agree that it would be fantastic for us getting him back, i really feel that over the years we've rushed players back too soon after major injuries, i hope i'm wrong but i can see him coming back and then doing more damage.

Tokyo Travel Advice
at 13:23 9 Jan 2015

Obviously non QPR. Currently in Japan for a snowboarding trip, 12 days up in Niseko and then 3 nights in Tokyo, haven't ever been here before and haven't yet booked Tokyo.

Anyone on here, been or live in Tokyo and could pass on any helpful advice for newbies traveling there for the first time. There are 4 of us, and we wouldn't mind staying where there is a bit of nightlife as we're not doing much partying up here!!

Thanks in advance.

Reasons to be Cheerful ….
at 02:05 1 Dec 2014

My kids are sitting an in class assessment. The room is dead silent. I'm at the front of the class and just let a fairly loud fart go. None of them even looked up and realised it was me, in fact i doubt many of them heard it.

I'm cheerful about that.
