| News Comment | Southampton V Liverpool The Carabao Cup Verdict at 16:42:37
As you say Colburn the officiating was again a disgrace surely the linesman saw something it was hard to miss in truth, unless you hadn't agenda. Sadly the FA, who appear to be just as corrupt as FIFA, are completely uninterested in sorting it out so the Premier League continues on its corrupt way. The second half performance gave some cause for hope and I agree we're not quite relegated as yet but a good manager appointment is needed. I was disappointed to not see the Sulemana and Sugawara start and I thought they had a great impact on the game when they came on albeit too late. Perhaps if the previous incumbent fool had used them and Onachu we might not be in the mess we are in. |
| News Comment | Southampton FC Sack Russell Martin at 09:06:13
At last. Not that it made any difference to the result but the referee and VAR was again incredibly biased missing a clear handball on the edge of the spurs penalty area and failing to disallow their goal after the clear foul on KWP. Performances were dreadful, why did Downes let a player stroll past him and why did Manning not track the tosser Maddison for the first goal. Complete failure to compete after that. Martin’s decision to remove Sulemana was laughable, at least he has some pace unlike Armstrong who was dreadful. Our delivery from set pieces was consistently dreadful. The shame is you could see Fernandes and Dibling becoming frustrated. Really need to bring in a quality manager and persuade Tyler to sign an extended contract. |

Another dig at Sulemana Nick …. Maybe the reason he hasn’t done anything is because he is brought on with 5 minutes to go and the game well lost. In the cup game where he played he refreshingly moved the ball forward quickly and put in some good crosses, as well as defending well. Bet Potter would give him a proper chance. Sports Republic in general and Ankerson in particular clearly have no wish to see us remain in the Premier League it would appear. |

Incidentally it is close to blasphemous to be mentioning Nigel Atkins a decent man who was unfairly sacked in the same rrath as Russell Martin who should have gone long ago |

Not sure what your issue is with Sulemana Nick, to my mind he's been given too little game time rather than too much as he is one of the few players who is Incisive and can put in a cross. Otherwise I largely agree with your comments although Sports Republic have sabotaged us by not signing a decent striker in the summer. |
| News Comment | Enough Is Enough ! Russell Martin Has To Adapt Or Go ! at 12:58:30
What a shambles, yes odd players like Aribo and KWP really stood up but Martin’s pathetic sticking to Stephen’s as a starter, and even more unbelievably captain, really cost us. Does he watch a different game to the rest of us, can’t he see how unsuited he is to the role. Quite apart from the sending off the failure to organise at the back for the first goal was laughable. As regards the sending off the Chelsea players dive to the floor was also pathetic but how stupid was Stephen’s to pull his hair. Hopefully he will receive a very lengthy ban and we can start with a much stronger team going forward. There was some good incisive breaks forward but sadly some players appear to have been coached out of thinking to put in an early accurate pass in favour of turning backwards. VAR was its usual biased self, Manning was pulled over and prevented from clearing the ball for their fourth but by then it probably did not matter too much. Ankerson’s awful transfer decisions and the owner’s apparent indifference are sadly ruining our club. |

First off, had Arsenal or Liverpool scored that goal it would have stood, no question. Better performance in some respects but Flynn Downes was lucky to stay on the pitch. Disagree about McCarthy irrespective of instructions he should have used his commen sense for the first and his positioning for the second was awful. Personally therefore I was relieved to see Lumley given his chance. I was surprised Sugawara lost Mitoma for their goal but otherwise thought he played well. Also thought Sulemana was unlucky with ball that hit his heels as otherwise he was away. So Chelsea next up, which will be a good test, particularly with the suspensions. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Liverpool The Verdict at 12:03:30
First off I hope we have Dibling and Fernandes signed up to very long contracts, real super stars potentially. Unlike me to side with Liverpool but I think Downes in the centre played Saleh onside for their second. You say McCarthy pulled off some good saves Nick but he was also largely responsible for two of their goals, a dreadful performance in my eyes. What on earth was he thinking of with his positioning for their second. That said if Downes had put his foot through the ball for the first all would have been well and if Stephen’s (who was again generally poor) had been anywhere near Saleh then the second might have been prevented. Madness to have him marking Saleh. The officiating was again very much in favour of our opponents, yes we were given the penalty (though I was amazed when it was given due to the usual bias) but we had two other penalty appeals not given when AA was taken out by their goal keeper and Archer was pushed over by Kanoute. Then to cap it all they are given a soft penalty to win it. I disagree with you and the PGMOL statement - Sugawara’s arm was a little away from his body but he did not move his arm towards the ball when it bounced up - if it had been the other way round we would not have been given one. On the selections Martin messed up badly, Taylor would have done a much better job than Stephen’s against Saleh. What use is it playing Tall Paul when you leave out Sugawara and Sulemana, two of the few apparently capable of getting down the wing and putting in a decent cross. In many ways a really good performance wrecked by stupid lapses and poor management. Really hope Sports Republic grow a pair whilst we still have a (remote) chance of survival. |
| News Comment | Central Defensive Injury Blow For Southampton at 15:56:42
Surely Martin has learned his lesson about Stephens though history seems to suggest not. Desperate times with Ramsdale and Bednarak (who despite his detractors, frequently shows up in the most blocked shots statistics) both out and no new manager incoming. |
