I'm hoping Jimmy plays a lot of games he brings a lot of qualities to the team, his move to right back was incredibly successful and there's no reason he can't start the season in the same position. He adapted really well to the position which can't be said for all centre backs, it gave us another player who is dominant in the air at set pieces taking a bit of pressure off Cook and JCS. He provided an out ball for Begovic which was needed but having moved Begovic on that's still a good option to have if Nardi or Walsh are struggling for options when teams make the high press. His strength in posession is important, too many full backs get shoved off the ball far too easily, the more he played in the position the more confident he got with pushing forward which these days is important. Just like Dan Burn at Newcastle it is possible to convert to full back, versatility is important to have in any squad, I'm pleased to watch his interviews and see his enthusiasm after so many of our players just wanting to jump ship at the first opportunity. No I'm not Jimmy Dunne in disguise.... [Post edited 18 Jul 8:09]

True - Amazed you missed Martis most important decision getting rid of Dozzell, it was getting to the stage that I thought it would never happen and dreading seeing his name on the team sheet. If you want to be successful there is no room for excessive sentiment, a manager has to be ruthless when building a team and if a player doesn't fit the playing style then they have to be moved on. |

The bits I've seen of Al Hamadi so far makes that very tempting.... |

Where exactly are Cardiff getting all their money from, they signed a lot of players last Summer including giving a ridiculously expensive contract to Ramsey who is forever injured. I havnt noticed them making a big sale in the last couple of years, surely they are pushing FFP to the limits.... [Post edited 13 Jul 9:34]

Well I'm assuming you got that from his Instagram like last time, seems like the deal was concluded in his absence by his Dad no surprise there...... It's all about the money, we move on there's lots of other options out there and plenty who will want to play for the Rs.... |

Cardiff that surely screams, gone to the highest bidder, presumably he's getting a signing on fee and probably a slightly better wage. I had Cardiff down last season as one of the clubs that could get into Financial difficulty, would be interesting to know the state of their finances, does that mean Josh Bowler is back at the Florists he was on loan there last year, possibly worth an enquiry. |

As Hayes says Bugger I actually got fooled into thinking it was real, should have guessed we were never going to spend £800k on a player.... |

Thanks again interesting information, so that may well be the fee as opposed to outbidding Derby which was the implication in their thread. If this is indicating that we actually have a transfer budget I'm glad to see we are using it sensibly, and that we have resisted the temptation to throw even more money at Willock just to get him to sign. Thanks for the link as you say they were excited to be getting him but sound very pi**ed off that he's now possibly going to the Hoops. Lots of mentions of 800k as a transfer fee and that we outbid them for a player with 6 months left on his contract, I don't think in our current circumstance we've outbid a transfer fee of 800k, sounds very unlikely. Seems we have a new chief scout as well as Manager thanks Marti, you are the chosen one.... |

We had one in Mass Luongo but for some strange reason some people didn't rate him, hes shown he's a good player again at Ipswich last year, Mckenna can spot a good player. Not as good as Gregory obviously but still good at Championship level at least, anyway you know all about him judging by your location... [Post edited 7 Jul 8:13]

Any chance of a translation so far I know via Google he's an Icelandic international playing for Silkeborg in Denmark. |

Fair enough but the transfer market is a madhouse, £40 million for a prospect, jeez that's crazy money and he was part of the team that lost 4-0 at Loftus Road. |

RIP - Echo Brian's sentiments, it doesn't seem any age 63 especially when you've already reached 70. Life is cruel at times we lost our dad aged 49, one of if not the most traumatic time for me, a story to be told at some stage.... Treasure the time you have here..... [Post edited 29 Jun 11:58]

In the same boat and using anything I can to bale out the water, like you the other half has been organising our holidays and social life before the fixtures have been released. Normally I'm on top of this and have an agreement that the fixtures are checked but we've been through some crap in the past year / years even so I let my guard slip. A number of things have been booked and arranged already so I'm now waiting very nervously to see which games I will miss..... [Post edited 26 Jun 8:05]

Click bait has been going into overdrive while you have been on holiday, it currently feels like Chinese water torture counting down the days, losing Marti would be a crushing blow but somehow you have to accept the possibility to keep a sense of reality. I can't see him going to Sunderland mainly because he knows there's better opportunities on the horizon, your bigger worry is Burnley they just maybe have the squad and resources that could be a temptation. Marti obviously knows how much the Rs crowd love him from the adulation he has already received, that could well work massively in our favour and the London location is a good one, time will tell, if we can get past the next two weeks and we see him in Girona we may just be on to a winner, fingers , toes and everything crossed. Wishful thinking obviously but the fact it's in Spain gives me hope that Marti is planning for next season and not being poached by some other Championship club who maybe has better financial resources for a push at promotion, my only wish for this close season is that we don't lose our Manager. |

Shame that's him off the market, wonder what they offered him must have been good money, here's hoping we can somehow find a deal that makes Marti think it's worth signing, a few bonus clauses at the minimum. |

Agreed my first choice is Field and Colback, purely because Field and Hayden are very similar players and I rate Sam very highly, Colback has the ability to get forward which Hayden very rarely does, he is a defensive midfielder who plays in front of the back four admittedly giving us extra defensive strength. Some people advocating that we need to sign Hayden if he's contract is paid up at Newcastle, surely that's going down the same road of giving big contracts to Austin and Johansen which we have already established was a mistake financially, there's no question Hayden would be a nice to have as a free transfer on a low wage but he or his agent won't accept a low wage, there's going to be lots of other options available.
