Arsenal renew pressure to sign Ash 17:00 - Aug 3 with 14853 views | Lord_Bony | Arsenal are stepping up their efforts for Swansea City defender Ashley Williams. The Daily Mail says Arsenal have intensified attempts to sign Williams to ease their defensive injury crisis. Manager Arsene Wenger had the Wales central defender watched by a senior scout during Swansea’s Europa League clash against Malmo on Thursday. They remain in talks with Swansea over their skipper, but have so far refused to meet their £10m valuation."

Arsenal renew pressure to sign Ash on 11:55 - Aug 4 by AnotherJohn | I've said for a while that 15m should be the minimum price. I'm glad that those hard-headed types who think 10m would be great business aren't running the club. That is peanuts when you consider the rewards on offer for staying in the Prem. As the commentary team on radio Berkshire covering the Reading match said, Arsenal are sniffing around trying to get Ash on the cheap when a price of 12m would be too low. The age factor is irrelevant - a good run over the next three years with further team development would be worth more than that to us, and I think Ash has a big part to play. |
Thankfully we already have hard-headed types running the club rather than deluded sentimentalists. They've valued Ash at £10m in case you hadn't noticed. £10m would buy you Amat, Chico and Botia/Moreno. Grow up.

Yeah true. You wonder why the sheepshaggers paid 9M for Caulker...

All true enough old chap, but Williams at this moment in time is one of the best CB's in the country. If we're selling him at that price I can only assume it's because of a gentleman's agreement between us and the player. Reckon we could get more especially if Wenger gets desperate, which he's showing signs of doing.

Arsenal renew pressure to sign Ash on 15:26 - Aug 4 with 2640 views | snork44 | The minimum we are asking for is 12 million. The myopic Frenchman is offering 6 million so the most he'll go up to possibly is the amount the Bassey's paid for Caulker. Look if Wenger is only offering a pound over the release clause for the racist toothy diving prick then somehow he isn't going to be offering 6-7 million over the odds for Williams.

Aye - about time someone told that slippery c*nt to keep his mouth shut. Don't like the fact that his firm (new era) have been dishing out boots to the youngsters with #newera stitched in - no agenda there...

Arsenal renew pressure to sign Ash on 17:41 - Aug 4 with 2496 views | GoodGodAlive | I can't see anything happening this side of the kick off. But, imagine if Arsenal have a ropey start? Villa home, Fulham away - if they have 3 points or fewer they will push the boat out. Not saying it's Ash, but September 2nd may be the time that Arsenal put an offer in too good to refuse. And where would that leave us?

You'd hope so, unless his designated replacement can also be bought at the same time, which would be a big ask. Ideally we need to have a cutoff by the day of the United game.

Laudrup already stated in an interview he didn't want to end up with having to replace in the end and would just flat deny transfer-requests that were too near the end of the window.

Arsenal renew pressure to sign Ash on 21:42 - Aug 4 with 2261 views | jack_obs | Hold your horses lads, we need to give some credit to our Board in recent transfer dealings. If they managed to get £5m+ for DG and £6m+ for Sinclair then I'm pretty sure they'll get a fee for Ash that'd be acceptable to most of us. On the other hand Arsenal aren't looking that clever with regards their transfer dealings to date and would Ash fancy going there given he'll be setting himself up as a target for the gunners' boo boys if their defence doesn't suddenly become the unit they were accustomed to with Adams, Dixon, Bould & Winterburn in the side?

Arsenal had the second best defence last season. Only Man City conceded fewer so their defence already is a unit. They have some injury issues at the moment hence journalists have bumped this story again. Ash wouldn't be eligible for their CL qualifier nor the group stages if we get to the EL group stages. Lazy journalism in my opinion. If Arsenal want a centre-back they'll look for a more suitable candidate I reckon.

Arsenal renew pressure to sign Ash on 01:16 - Aug 5 with 2108 views | PozuelosSideys | Selling Ash at this time of year, and particularly for £10m would be bazonkers. Comes under the Home grown rule, club captain, just before the season starts and virtually impossible to replace at the mo. Do those advocating his sale for that price not watch our games? We'd ship goals like a seive if he wasnt part of our back 4 ffs!

Not sure I've seen anyone "advocating his sale" Just seen folk pointing out the near certainties that given the chance he would climb over his own mother to get to champions league football and a 60,000 crowd in one of the best and biggest stadiums housing one of the most famous clubs in the land, and that our Board would accept £10m for a 29 year old centre back that wanted to take that opportunity (if you doubt that, just consider how many centre backs have commanded a fee of £10m.....generally they just don't). So, Caulker, England international, 21 year old, £9m, Arsenal not interested. The (only) reason I think that he won't go is that there is no way that Arsenal or anyone else will stump up the cash.
