Updates on the Dale: Jimmy Bell interviewed in Saturday's Observer - top priority is securing Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro

Phil Edwards: part of the loan agreement with Stevenage was that he'd be allowed to join Dale permanently. Personal terms have been agreed

Ian Craney and Andy Proctor: Dale are interested, but terms/deal got to be right for the club as central midfield not top priority

Right-back out of contract at another club but offered new deal has agreed to join Dale - letting old club know 1st before we can name him

Michael Symes: will not be returning to Dale, though Coleman & Bell looking for a third striker to hopefully work with JLAA and Donnelly

Talks at advanced stage for centre half and a goalkeeper - neither with links to Accrington Stanley!

Bell defends transfer policy, insisting recruitment of ex-Accys will only occur if it strengthens Dale. Says not just looking at ex-Accys

If the centre half and keeper don't have an Accy link, I'd say it was safe to assume that the right back does have an Accy link. I reckon it will be Peter Cavanagh. Be a bit weird having someone with the same name as my Dad playing for us.

He's big, he's bad, he's named after your Dad, Cavanagh, Cavanagh

If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor

It's all well and good that we are getting in some new blood......but surely we should also be off loading some of the dross that didn't serve us well at all during the last season.....why is Holness still on the books?

There are plenty other we need to get shut of.

We don't want a huge squad......we can't afford passengers at our skint level.

I didn't say sweeper or wing back,

it narrowed it down a little

Very true, you don't hear of sweepers anymore, proper defenders role that!

Poll: 24/25 season ticket, how many free games would you consider fair?

I'm sure some of the players like Holness and Jordan will be moved on over the summer, either if someone else wants them or if we can pay them off.

There is still plenty of time for those things to happen.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

They'll all be on holiday so we'll have them gun with Adams, twaddle etc go.

This is the One, I've waited for

Very good news.

Agree with all of that.

Edwards is a very good defender, and takes a superb penalty.

Craney is good, but does have injury problems, if these are behind him, could be a superb signing.

Proctor is one of the best players I've ever seen live, like a young Gary Jones, but a better footballer, has a fantastic engine, great range of passing, and you can always rely on him to get chip in with a few goals every season.

Glad about Symes, wasn't good enough.

Agree with Bell about the transfer policy, they will cast the net far and wide, but if they do sign any former Accrington players, its not because there ex-stanley, its because they trust them, and they can improve the team.

From a pne fan i've watched Procter this season and your description couldn't be any further from the truth. all his work goes in when your team haven't got possession, when you have the ball, for a midfielder he goes missing and sticks to an opposition player and won't open up for a pass. On the ball? he's awful! can't pass or shoot to save his life. please take him free of charge? I'll even pay his taxi bill.

Procter would be a waste of a signing unless we're moving on one of the other central midfielders. We'd have to look at matching his wages at PNE and that's money that could be spent elsewhere on the team. Having four central midfielders would be a luxury.

He's only worth considering if Jones moves on. On a separate note, what's happened with BBM?

Nicky Adams longs for a return to Leyton Orient - or so he says on Twitter. The sooner we're rid of these disruptive wantaways the better. I want to see players proud to play for the Dale on that pitch next season. The last 12 months have left a real bad taste in the mouth that I still haven't been able to get rid of (and I use Corsodyl)!!

I've just seen that tweet and asked why he is doing his own agents work. I'd pay his train fare to London if it made the move any easier!
