Can we get over the 11 points mark by beating the Cherries today, that is all we are playing for now.

Been doing a sweepstake in my head as to when I am most likely to leave the Away Win Velodrome.

Current thinking is the 52nd minute.

Truthfully we have become a set of fans who revel in leaving a game early these days, I am not having a go at Pat here, who is trying to inject some humour, but it is all over social media, people being proud of telling everyone they were on their way out of the ground on the hour mark.

In fairness I did that myself at the away game at Bournemouth, so I am not criticising anyone for doing it, just for the fact that people seem to think it is something to be proud of.

When I left the game early I didn't feel proud, I felt ashamed.

When a team is 3-0 down at half time, there is a chance of coming back, we almost did it at Forest, I stayed for that one and saw a battling performance.

10 minutes to go and 3-0 down I can see why there is not much chance of coming back.

The phrase "Rats leaving a sinking ship" is a term of insult, I am not calling anyone a rat here, nor as i say Pat in particular, but it is the principle of the matter, we are supporters of a club and all that word means, we should not be proud of deserting it in it's time of need, in the past supporters would leave the game early and protest in the Car park at the Dell, that sent a message to the board and the media that could not be ignored.

Now when I see the "firedrills" at Saints and other clubs it doesn't make me laugh, it makes me sad as what the game has become, many hark on about the good old days of the game, but back then people did not leave the game at half time or on the hour mark, because the team were doing badly, they saw it through till the last 10 minutes.

If you leave a game at half time because your team are losing badly, you are not "Old School football fan" you are part of the new breed of supporter.

As I say I was ashamed of leaving that early at Bournemouth

I am not proud of leaving early. Far from it.

I just can't be doing with any of these when the team have been terrible:-

- waiting 10 - 15 minutes to get out of the Northam Stand at the end of the game (going near the back of the stand means this is inevitable)
- waiting a further 5 - 10 minutes to get up the bridge
- seeing absolute helmets applauding the team off at the end

I don't mind any of the above when the game has gone well.

But invariably it doesn't.

As I say this wasn't aimed at you, but at the general trend these days at Southampton and other clubs.

I agree with you about the issues if you stay, but usually if we have played badly, I move down nearer the front as there are plenty of empty seats, which means i miss the last two issues.

I agree with you about applauding the team off after defeat, that is the time to give them a bit of stick, when the final whistle blows, I am ashamed i don't do that myself.

Possibly the biggest different between the old days when fans stayed to the bitter end, is that up until 1988 the pubs were shut between 2.30pm & 6pm, so there was no point in storming out and going up the pub as I would suspect most people do.

It was a hell of a lot easier to get out at The Dell, it didn't take the best part of half an hour to get away.

I am probably going to move my season ticket next season. I would ordinarily like to go near the back, but nobody sings there apart from me and my mates, unless it's the dreaded Allez Allez shite.

All recommendations gratefully received.

One of the few (and deluded) that stayed for the Brentford humiliation and even the Leicester hammering that year, but tend to just clear off when the three goal rule applies. Dunno why I decided to stay to the bitter end v Brentford, but perhaps it was to give the players some shìt at the end, or for the pure comedy value.

Don’t plan hanging around today so probably be out the exit on the 43rd minute

Ready and waiting to mop up those European places......

You could look at it another way. I myself and my brother and one or two others tend to leave when we’re getting hammered but it really hurts and I/ we don’t want to see it , it affects your mood and can ruin your weekend . You could say that those that stay when we’re getting annihilated don’t really care that much about the result . Just a thought.

I really look forward to going to the match every week, catch up with a few friends over a beer before, and then reality kicks in when the lineups are announced, Smallbrain, Bree playing, my heart sinks knowing we are in for another shit show and three more points lost.

Every week I the fee paying customer turns up to be treated like shite, crap beer, overpriced pies and baguettes, and then I am sit in my cramped seat to watch a load of overpaid so-called footballers not giving a shit. It is at that time I look at it and think sod this I am off they cant be bothered why should I.

I dont want to leave early, as I have paid very good money to be entertained for 90 minutes, but the dross that is being served up week in week out is making it difficult to get enthused, I left today after the 3rd goal went in.

There is no way on this earth that SR are going to exit stage right, it is clear that they dont give a shit about the club or the fan base. However will continue to turn up alogn with the other Saints fans in the hope that things may get better but I reserve the right to leave when I feel like enough is enough.

It’s going to take somebody with deep pockets to buy Solak out.

But then would any prospective buyer also have to buy Goztepe and Valenciennes???

If so, we are screwed.

I've never left a game more than 3 minutes early, and then only if I really need to make a quick exit to a prior engagement. I see 95% of games to the bitter end. This might be because it's a 2 hour drive to the ground and I want to make the most of the experience, good or bad, but it also just feels wrong walking out on the team I support.
I stayed to the bitter end of the Brentford game which was one of our worst games this season and I can understand why many left early, and I didn't applaud the team because they were rubbish, but maybe I endure the shite times because it'll make the good times, when they come that much sweeter.
I stayed to the end today with my son because you never know when we might score a late goal, and because the team did try. And when KWP walked round the ground on his own applauding the crowd, we clapped him. After all, he's been a great servant to Saints.
