You would have put money against all of those winning other than Oxford today.

So far we haven't beaten any of the teams in the top 11 and may well need to change that statistic in the second half of the season. Hull and Cardiff managed to see out their games today which we didn't. The results elsewhere show it is too early to think we are safe. Looks like Oxford have the new manager bounce with 6 points from two home games so the picture changes when they looked to be in free fall before Christmas. This is one division you can never relax in.

Historically we have always been an oddball club beating the good teams and losing to ones we shouldn't. It's actually refreshing to be able to beat bad teams.

True.

Nevertheless we've gained ten points over Cardiff and Plymouth and nine points over Stoke and Hull in the last ten matches. We can't afford to be complacent but we're definitely on a much better trend. I'm encouraged that one loss didn't end up in two and then a six loss slump.

Getting draws isn't great for points total but I don't think it wrecks the confidence like a run of losses.

True but good draws with sheff utd Burnley Watford all away and home draw with Sunderland shows we can compete with the top 6 sides. Long way to go but I am much more content than I was beginning of October. Hopefully few will return to full fitness soon and we get some reinforcements come January.

Being hard to beat can only be a good thing. Look at the table and the number of defeats is less than Swansea and matching Watford. Hopefully the Watford stat will change in our favour Wednesday. But agree with other posters re crazy scores but anyone can beat anyone in the Championship. Look at Preston, makes our result seem even better. Saying that we need the crocs back, losing Jimmy at RB stunts our attacking options on the Right Side.

It's chaos time of year isn't it?
There's no need for four games in a week.
Boxing Day tradition, fine.
NYD/E tradition fine.
Why put another game in between and another game afterwards?

Agreed we have had good draws against teams at the top but on the other side of the coin we lost easily at home to Hull, who then went 10 games without a win, lost at home to Portsmouth and drew with Plymouth, two clubs who have been useless away from home. I don't trust us to win the return matches with the teams below us which is why I think we will need to beat some of the play off contenders. That might be difficult if we keep on having 25% possession and one shot at goal against top half sides.

There are always going to be 'unexpected' results in this division. The key is to achieve any semblance of consistency and one defeat in 9, with a crippling injury list, indicates that we are doing that. Too many draws of course, which - as Nix points out - is not great for points, but good for morale.
When we were 5 points adrift in November, I genuinely thought we would be out of sight at this point and our position would be irretrievable. We still haven't played well with any manner of consistency, but we have put ourselves in a much stronger position.
We will need some loan reinforcements in January - did Hayden get a club? Maybe not a striker (which sound weird, but with Frey back and Kolli stepping up) unless we can recall Kelman. But definitely a LB and CB. Still lots to be done, but feel we will be okay.

The word is .... despite, rather than plus.

Love and hate this league all in one.

When the next match and we are potentially 13th..

Lose the next one and hypothetically we could be one place above the relegation zone again (unlikely I know).

It's a 3 game League.... Win 3 and your flying, lose 3 and you're right back in it.

One thing we absolutely needed to do this season is take points off the bottom half clubs.

To pick up in that Nix, it was a draw away from home, and if you win all your home games (yes I know, not our strongest point) and draw all our away, we are in the promotion mix. I would happily draw ALL games away, because as you say it maintains confidence.

I do however think the squad will take yesterdays draw as a defeat (like many of us here) because we had done well until their equaliser and then of course it was so close to the end

Lets hope that spurs them on Wednesday

Not true, we beat Norwich at home when they were 9th.
Also, as stated above we’ve got very good draws away at Sheff U (the only team to score there and get a point until Burnley recently I believe Bristol City and Burnley.
