Today's performance showed up Martin's and the clubs naive thinking.
It doesn't take a football expert to see we have a poor quality squad at Prem level and the hard facts are , to give yourself a chance to survive the first season you play like we did today ...pragmatism, grit, solidity and grind those points out, game by game.

Well played lads...shame it's too late .

I don't think our squad is as bad as some think.
Its just been incredibly badly managed.

Fookin ref is a disgrace as usual Saints getting nothing, we need Tall Paul to mix it up a bit AA not effective.

Todays ref Tim is another in the long line of useless refs
And the VAR wa that useless coont from Wolves game so we were never gonna get owt

Says the bloke from his armchair at home

Exactly what a stupid comment why don’t some of you lot try travelling to away games instead of moaning

Poll: Would you take an Fa Cup win if it meant relegation to the championship ?

I was there and it wasn't just a few morons. it was just a bit of light hearted fun, but it was true, it was our first meaningful attempt at goal.

Folk will always moan but tickets aren’t always available.

Thought yesterday was a small step in the right direction.

looked solid at the back, with Wood again good, but still need to be more threatening on the break.

Support was brilliant, pretty much non stop, with everybody getting behind the team.

Referee and VAR officials pathetic

Adam Armstrong is a good lad and a great Saint, but he doesn’t cut it as a PL striker.

Didn’t last time. Doesn’t this time around.

It’s a pity. Would love him to succeed but we should sell him to a Championship team in January.

We should build a team around Tall Paul up front, or sell him too in Jan. Think the new guy will decide this quickly.

Better times ahead.

I agree with sentiment around Armstrong. I wouldn't be averse to selling him in Jan and believe a challenging championship side would be interested. He has a good record in that division. Sadly he he just hasn't delivered in Premiership.

I would prefer to see Archer up there.

This a fair point. I would go to more away games, but tickets are hard to get hold of. I got mine yesterday in the 'General' stand that Fulham have, which was next to away supporters (Cost £47 !!).

It also made it difficult getting into the 'away' designated pubs (8 Bells and Temperance), as they checked some tickets and Saints tickets had a red band on and mine had a black band. There were quite a few Saints fans in the general Stand.

Some ‘folk’ simply can’t afford tickets and trains etc a few days before Christmas. Others simply can’t get to games anymore due to personal circumstances. Doesn’t mean they care less about the team or views are less valid. I thought the ‘we’ve had a shot’ song was quite funny and a bit of gallows humour in what has been a miserable season.

I saw when I was looking at tickets that this is actually no longer a general stand (they used to call it a neutral stand). It's now designated as home seating, but the neutral culture seems to live on. Must be one of the few places in the country where an away supporter can support their team without trouble. Always seemed a bit odd to me how they don't get trouble.

Yet here you are, having gone to the game, still moaning at my comment. I’ll stick with my option and say what I like, thanks.

You are probably right. I do recall it being a general stand, where many London tourists and neutrals went. My log in ID worked from previous visits, hence I took advantage of getting a ticket.

The home and away supporters even shared the same turnstiles etc.

There was no chance of me getting evicted as there wasn't much to get excited about !

Still a good day out despite their £7.20 for a tin (yes tin) of Guinness in the ground !
