Feck me and the horse i rode in on 12:23 - Nov 27 with 1470 viewsRangersDave

I've been waiting for 6 months to see a specialist regarding the deteriorating condition of my left leg, ever since i twisted it climbing out of an Artic.

the inner s9de of my left legstarted givng grief so i went to the doctors, possible Miniscus detachment by my knee.

Ok, no worries, he put me down for physiotherapy (i'm NHS i'm afraid), and i went on a list in March.
I got asked to see a doctor again a few months later who diagnosed torn knee cartiledge, and im back on the waiting list. Fair enough.

Subsequently, the outside of my left thigh from the knee up, goes numb. So dead in fact that you can push a pin into my thigh and i wont feel anything.

So, off to the docs again, and i get referred to a specialist.
I go in, this therapist finds loads wrong with my knee and leg and after 45 mins (as apparently thats the max time they allocate to a patient) i'm out and on my way with the promise of proper therapy....... Ok, i get a letter and e-mail...... multiple times so i dont forget to go again on Friday of this week.

And this morning i get numerous e-mails and texts and a phone call telling me the appointment is now cancelled (due to unforseen circumstances) and they will be in touch. but no idea of when.

Excuse the pun, but it's a real pain and i'm having to work (literally) with it 5 days a week.

I know others are in a worse state than me, and appreciate that,i just wanted to vent my frustration to my mates here.
Thanks
Dave

Thanks mate,

Want to hear something funny (in a macabre type of way that is)?

Well as i'm putting most of my weight on my right leg now, favouring the left, the right has started to 'bitch' at me and give me a little pain.

The way i'm going i might just be back for next season. lol

I hope that both you and the club make a full recovery from your shared predicament of just limping along.

Good luck with it Dave. Unfortunately one of thousands waiting for help and I think Brian would say it's not any better in Ireland.

Sorry to hear that Dave.

From a quick google there are exercises a physio/osteopath can give you to strengthen the muscles around the knee and support the knee better. Is it worth paying for one off session to see what exercises are appropriate for your specific injury?

Also could you get a knee brace to prevent further damage and ease the pain? Sorry to be solution focused - it's horrid to not be able to get around / be in constant pain!

Really sorry to hear that Dave.

4 weeks ago I went to the GP with a cough after a virus, when listening to my chest she spotted a mole on my back, another GP came in took a photo and told me they were referring me to hospital.
2 Days later hospital appointment for professional photo into AI system. 2 days after that booked in for an operation 5 days later to cut it out. Got a call last Monday to come into hospital on the Thursday to the cancer unit. Was away in Barcelona so had to postpone until yesterday.

Yesterday I learnt I had early stage Skin Cancer. One more precautionary op next week for surrounding skin and I am all clear. All in the space of 5 - 6 weeks. I owe the GP and a fair amount of luck my life.

Elective surgery on the NHS really sucks at the moment and I am really sorry for you or anyone else having to live with pain.

Cancer and Emergency in my experience is amazing. I have private as well, and it's all been so quick and efficient I did not have to use it. If you can afford it go private for elective but it really sucks if you can't.

I'd recommend physio/osteopath as well.

Try and get one with sports experience as they tend (imho) to be more focussed on immediate improvements.

4 year wait to see an ENT specialist over here, despite them adding a 2% tax levy for the NHS over here ( while the rich pay less tax then they would in the UK, the poorer are actually worse off, tax wise).
Oh, and the 'temporary' levy is now permanent. NHS management growing, tax burden growing, waiting lists growing 😡
