The I voted labour and want to apologise thread. 04:14 - Nov 23 with 953 viewsmangohilljack

This space is dedicated to issuing an apology to the people of Great Britain—those whose lives have been jeopardised, the pensioners deprived of adequate heating, the homeless and veterans repeatedly overlooked, and the medically injured who have been callously ignored by a government that shows no regard for their welfare.

We are witnessing what may be the most disastrous government in living memory—one that appears to despise its own people and actively contributes to the decline of a once-great nation.

If you voted Labour, we invite you to reflect and express your apologies below.

You're hoping aren't you although looking at the polls with Labour 3 points behind the Tories and just 6 in front of Reform it looks like the rest of the country's woken up and agrees with you as I do

They barely won anymore votes than they did under Corbyn. They only won because Reform split the Tory vote, which after 14 years of poor Tory rule is quite some under achievement, yet Starmer and Co act as though they sailed in on a wave of Socialist fervor.
Why did they feel the need to close a supposed £20bn fiscal gap in 12 months? They have 5 years, they could have chipped away at it. Instead, they have lost support from all corners within 4 months.
There was talk of the end of the Tories before the election. The way things are going it will be the end of Labour after this time

How’s Queensland?

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

They've crashed the economy in which it looks like we're heading back into austerity with inflation rising , backtracked/lied on major manifesto pledges, alienated large groups of the population , has a Chancellor with no finance experience ( no she wasn't an economist in the Bof E) still pumping taxpayers money into ridiculous projects, such as overseas aid to countries richer than ourselves, failed to make a single dent in illegal migrant issue in fact the government has more hotels on its books than the Premier Inn, as Scotia posted ,all in 4 months not bad going so lets see where we are in another 4.5 years ,if we're still here that is .
No I didn't vote Tory either

Like most new governments, they’re doing the unpopular stuff early on while there’s time.

We’ll see after 2 years whether the direction of travel is the right one.

Labour have had 14 years to prepare for government , this the first time in history that a new government is more unpopular than the old , give them two years they'll be lucky to survive one.

I was so looking forward to a Labour government, but they haven't half made a pigs year of it so far.

From the clothing expenses to the total mishandling of the WFA and Rachel embellishing her cv, it certainly hasn't been an auspicious start.

I just hope it's a case of them finding their feet, but Starmer certainly doesn't inspire confidence

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

A lot of that is demonstrably not true. But for just one point of proof look no further than good old GBNews.

Your infatuation with news outlets rather than the content is becoming worrying .What is untrue, That inflation's going up , growth expectations have proven to be lower, alienation of large portions of the country, that the Labour lead has diminished , the worst start to a new Government , that manifesto pledges ignored or backtracked on , for someone who states that they never voted Labour you seem very defensive of that particular party , we all make mistakes , no shame in that as I've made many.

Depends.

If money is raised and things get fixed we may look back and say it was worth it. If not you could well be right.

There are a few things they’ve done that I’m not comfortable with but the way it’s being framed is crackers, if unsurprisingly.

Yes, I’m incredibly sorry for pensioners finding things hard but that doesn’t change the fact that as a group, they’re over all one of the better off parts of society. Way better off from children for example where the gap is pretty alarming.

Same sort of argument with farmers.

When money needs to be raised, any tax is going to be unpopular with those being hit. We’ve got a big division in this country in regards to wealth in assets. This is why I’m not surprised that farmers and pensioners are front and centre of the current tensions.

They've spent 14 years in opposition watching the slow rise of Nationalist politics all over the Globe. They're probably trying to push as much as they can through as quickly as they can because they might not get another chance after this.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Their problem is that most of the UK Press is right wing Tory owned. They'll be reminding the nation of every issue for the next 5 years.
If even a single pensioner dies due to the cold weather, it'll be splashed across the papers for months.
A Tory government gets away with a lot more than a Labour one.

Believe it or not Gwyn I never ever want a political party to fail , I want my governments to succeed in developing its people , improving their standard of living, making them healthy and as important wealthy, protecting the nation and yes its only 4 months but the signs are not good , I've seen over the years many new governments take office and imo without exception each one has initially giving us hope for the future , even Blair gave us that but failed and within that failure destroyed the lives of many and for that I can never forgive or forget and all I can see is Starmer enhancing and developing further Blair's ideology .

It was only two or three years ago pensioners dying were splashed all across the world media every single night live at 6pm from Downing Street by the prime minister himself.

14 years of doom, gloom, and failure for the Tories.
I will judge this lot after 5 years.
They have to undo do all the bad that’s happened over the last 14 years.
It will take a lot longer than 5 months I can assure you.

The content is what matters, you said they'd done nothing about the illegal immigration issue even the furthest right media outlet has pointed out they've done more than the Tories.

Four months they've had, how can they have ignored manifesto pledges (intended over a 5 year period In four months? How can they make a lasting impact on the economy in four months?

They'll be alienating a lot more of the population to put things right. We'd better face up to it.

We could also be facing a huge economic and defence problem if Trump implements his proposals. No government in the UK could do anything about that.

As Pawel says, a major problem is the press there Farmers IHT is basically a sound policy, I'm also pretty confident that the Mail would call for benefits to be means tested. But because it's Labour they'll get hammered for it

It's going to be a bumpy ride.
