Never done one of these, fully expecting a cricket score.

Ideally I think Lloyd could do with a 3-6 month loan at L1/2 level then provide cover for Celar which would give us 2 athletic strikers. We can only hope...

Are you being really serious?
We’ve got both Spurs and Brighton at home, Reading away is for the players to get up to speed not for us fans, if you don’t like it don’t go!
Better pre-season than most excluding the COVID years!

Kind of. Overblown it a bit for my amusement, as is my style, but seriously we've had a pre-season tour most years, invited fans along for maybe half, and of those, whether its Augsburg, Vienna, Milan, Groningen......The message is always "Come if you want but we'd rather you didn't, and you're on your own" - This year we simply get told the players are going and we're not welcome, and our consolation is home fixtures against Spurs (Meh, delusions of grandeur, rather not have them in the home end thanks) and Brighton (Not arsed by their current incarnation, grounds full of ex-Man U fans, bit like Reading was in 2007) - And a lousy fixture with Reading, a bad League 1 team (finished 8 places below Stevenage last year) at a ground we all hate, don't have a good record at, got relegated in, and have barely avoided in the 25 years since it was built.

In contrast, Hull's chairman has paid to take their hardcore away with them to Turkey both last and this pre-season, on a chartered jet from Humberside airport. Obv I don't expect that, but the tiniest bit of consideration when planning next years pre-season would be a welcome start.

After reading, Marti has confirmed we need more options upfront. So, we know the manager thinks our forward options are not enough.

One of the points I've made in a couple of recent write ups is about how the club spends the credit it's currently got in the bank with the supporters for the appointment of Cifuentes, the way last season ended, just the general uptick across the board.

Another point I've made to Christian Nourry personally, is that the supporters have been through a hell of a lot over the last two years, and have mostly taken it all in very good humour. Few clown stickers, bit of anti Les Ferdinand chant at West Brom after losing every game for four months, usual Twitter noise, but Briatore, Thompson, Chris Ramsey when he was manager, Devlin/Power/Jones, all got much, much worse off this fanbase for far less. We've never been shy about invading the pitch, massing on South Africa Road, beating the door down, and yet we've just gone through two years of the most horrific football and results, setting club records for home defeats in a season two years in a row, and, relatively, nobody said anything. Ainsworth got next to no abuse or backlash at all.

And the problems were all driven by the decisions around recruitment and retention of players and managers made by the CEO, DOF and managers at the time - binning off Warburton, hiring Beale, letting Beale bring all those little cnts in, going for Critchley, going for Ainsworth. The people who made those decisions have largely just washed their hands of it and walked away (Hoos, Ferdinand, Bhatia, Fernandes went earlier) and as ever it's us left with whatever the result is.

So I would be going out of my way at the moment to chuck Easter Eggs at that fan base. They sold the ground out every week last year and backed the team when it needed it most.

Not revealing the length of players contracts any more isn't a big deal really, but it is saying to those supporters 'we're going to tell you even less about our potentially disastrous decisions than we were before when they nearly got you to League One'.

Not letting us come on the pre-season tour - exactly as you say, not a big deal but it is a little treat and reward for people who've been slogging up to Preston North End every season for ten years now. The handful that ignored them and went anyway, did their research and found the golf course in the middle of nowhere, got there under their own steam, watched from under a tree behind the goal and were told "okay but you have to leave immediately afterwards, don't hang round to talk to anyone'.

That weird situation where they went on tour with two new players, without saying we'd signed them, and didn't put a squad list out until an hour before the first friendly when they were forced to because both were playing in the game. Not telling us who those games were against until a day or two before.. Again, none of it a big deal, but another little bit taken away from the supporters when I'd be going I'd be going on hands and knees to this support base at the moment with openness, transparency, treats, rewards. A proper unified, we're doing it together feel.

There's been some really good stuff too, like the Lower School End announcement. Generally the whole place seems to be moving in the right direction and far more professionally run than it was. QPR are now doing things we've spoken about on here for ten years. But as I keep saying this will go wrong at some point, because it's QPR, and when it does they'll be back to "we need you more than ever" etc etc. When that happens things like "we're going to Girona, you can stay at home and pay us £5 to watch it on your ipad if you like" will be a bigger deal than they currently are.

Fans matter less and less to football clubs these days, especially with the increasing fiscal signficance of TV money and sponsorship etc., and it seems Nourry will be no different, and may well be worse. Thinking otherweise is just sentiment and fan idealism, sadly. It's a business, and we're basically (literally) the bystanders.

Nah, I'm still riding the Cifuentes/Nourry optimistic wave. I literally only posted that yesterday from the point of view of somebody who wouldn't have minded being at a QPR pre-season having a few drinks in the sun, but fck slogging to the MadStad for it.

Mid-table this year lads, heading for the play offs next season.

I'd give just about anything right now for a mid-table finish, with ten games to go I really don't want to be looking at the teams below us thinkng we can get caught, It seems to me It's been like that forever?

Going to ba a bit Devils Advicate and just chuck a couple of points out there.

If I was the owner I really wouldn't give a toss about 200 hard-core fans that rock up to Preston once a year. Let's face it most season ticket holders turn up, have a crappy beer, watch the game and go home or to the pub.

My impression, and you'll know much more than me, is that Nourry is doing it his way and it is all about driving revenue for the club.
Don't announce signings? Fck you, I can drip feed it out to get social media hits high and generate interest across the summer.

Sell cheap season tickets after most 'legacy' fans have already bought more expensive ones. Fck you. I can get new fans in, who will then buy more expensive ones in the future.

They have chucked a big fat zero Easter eggs out, and yet we all still rock up.
And if/when it goes wrong we will still turn up.

The club feels like it is changing, but unfortunately it means they are going to upset a few. I get the impression Nourry won't care.

To me, the biggest risk is if/when Cifuentes goes. And we know if he gets us in the play offs, he's going to be in demand. If he miraculously has us in the play offs in October/November this year and somebody comes in....Back to square one. But I don't think we've got the squad to get there atm. So another year of building, and then who knows?

As annoying as it was to lose yesterday I do remember a week before the 2010/11 season we relied on a last minute Jamie Mackie goal to scrabble a home draw out of League One Plymouth and everyone was grumbling before we then went on to have The Best Season Ever.

Not saying this year is likely to be a repeat (if only!) but something to bear in mind in not really being bothered by yesterday.

Absolutely but part of me is hoping that Nourry will have seen the magnificent support last season, a full house v spurs and strong support at Reading yesterday. Clubs need fans, don’t mug them off.

That's my point: they 'need' them less and less (if they ever did).

Exhibit 1: The siege mentality of the 2022 Euro Cup Final in Paris. If that didn't tell you all you need to know about how the authorities regard football fans, nothing will (and if Hillsborough didn't years before).

Exhibit 2: The absolute Faustian catastrophe of handing Sky commercial jurisdiction over the domestic fixture list.

Exhibit 3: The FA supporting Manure's withdrawal from their own cup competition (for no benefit to anyone).

Exhibit 4: The support of club chairmen for Prem games abroad.

Exhibit 5: The breakway European league (led by our 'top' clubs).

Do you really need me to go on? (I'm also losing the will to live.)

That’s pretty grim reading but most of it won’t affect us so I just hope the club realise they need us.

Football at the very top of the top (which most of those bullet points apply to) has long gone, it’s so distanced to how it was pre ‘92.
