Two pens to Liverpool and three Everton sendings off for Das Beauts last derby game. There will be tears in the Home Counties, Norway and Ireland tonight for sure. *turns off Sky Box for a month*

One thing is for sure they wont be replacing him with Sean Dyche To be hated by your rivals is a sign of respect, we have only really hated one Pompey manager in the time I have been supporting Saints and that is Harry Redknapp, all the others just pass through. I would suspect that the only Everton manager Liverpool fans hate is David Moyes as he bigged up Everton, called them the biggest club in Merseyside and the Peoples club etc, in short he got under their skin. Back when Everton last won the League, Howard Kendall was respected on Merseyside, even by Liverpool fans, it has only been the 1990's that this blind hated has taken off, when Bill Shankly left Liverpool, he was regularly invited to Goodison Park by Everton's board as they knew he loved to go to a football match every Saturday

Hate is a strong word, bored to tears of the media love in and the ‘look at me, look at me’ hank is more like it. You’re probably right about the hatred building up from the nineties onwards. Growing up Shankley, Paisley and even Joe Fagan and Roy Evans were very respected by Evertonians. Since then they’ve had Houllier, Benitez and Klopp all cheerleaders for their global fan base. It was a different sport then though that belonged to the people, mainly local people. I barely recognise the game now from even ten years ago, we’ve discussed it here before, but Liverpool FC is now a global brand and their ‘fans’ haven’t a clue about the city or the rivalry with Everton. The atmosphere at the Anfield derby is non existent despite Sky trying to build it up.

Klopp Stepping Down In May on 13:50 - Jan 26 with 2807 views | dirk_doone | Liverpool know they need to get Xabi Alonso at the end of this season before any of the other top clubs in Europe do. Klopp obviously knows that too. We could well be seeing the start of a new era of Liverpool domination. [Post edited 26 Jan 13:52]

Some good points well made about global branding, my only real disagreement is about lumping all Liverpool fans in the same boat, there are many on Mersyside who have to sit and watch as their club is taken from them and give to the World and people who as you say havent a club about the city or for that matter the rivalry with Everton, they see the rivals as being Manchester United or in more recent times City. Im not being funny here just agreeing with you that they dont get it, if they hate Everton it is because they are told to, not because of a cultural thing.

Klopp Stepping Down In May on 14:21 - Jan 26 with 2755 views | dirk_doone | Liverpool fans must be over the moon at the prospect of getting the best young manager in Europe in. This quote on one of their forums siums it up: "Perfectly timed to get him in." Their only concern seems to be that Real Madrid or Bayern Munich will try to get him but Xabi has always said that Liverpool is his favourite club and this would be his dream job. https://www.sportbible.com/football/football-news/liverpool/liverpool-jurgen-klo [Post edited 26 Jan 14:29]

I totally agree with you. My nephew is a red season ticket holder and his brother has a season ticket for Everton. The red goes to the game each week by himself and sits amongst a load of weirdos from all over (his words) whilst his red mates watch it at home on telly or a dodgy stream. The blue goes the game with his mates and has a completely different match day, going the pub before and after, having the crack etc. I don’t know whether the success that Klopp has given them has placated them all to suck it up whilst the team is doing well and I know the likes of the Spirit of Shankley have tried to address it albeit without that much support or backing, but it will be interesting to see if they do star kicking off once Klopp has gone and if the team don’t push on.

Lol. Says the man who watched Calum Chambers in a preseason game for Arsenal and came on here the next day and anointed him 'the next Bobby Moore'. If it's ok, as you are the King of Over reactions, I think I'll hold fire on thinking Alonso is the next Pep just yet! :)

I turned TS on just after 1 for Hawksby n Jacobs as they are often entertaining but the first few minutes were all about how the whole football family must be in mourning and how he has turned the club in to what "they are today"!! I changed channel quite soon Surely even they realise Liverpool were a decent side in the 70's etc!!
