Toby Jones simply brilliant as the guy instrumental in exposing this national scandal which saw good people made redundant ,homeless and life savings swallowed by a Post Office so inept and arrogant it’s hard to contemplate.
People died because of this

Henry Staunton, former Chair of the Post Office has claimed the government wanted to stall compensation payouts to victims of the Horizon scandal so the Conservatives could “limp into” the general election.
Henry Staunton, who’s been in post since December 2022 and I’d assume therefor not part of the Horizon miscarriages of justice scandal was sacked last month by the business secretary, Kemi Badenoch, amid anger over the Horizon scandal.
Staunton has also alleged that Nick Read, the Post Office chief executive, tried in January to dissuade the government from proceeding with blanket exonerations for operators. Read has sent a letter, but its content is subject is unknown.
Who’s telling porkies and who’s telling the truth? It’s outrageous and needs sorting.

Kemi Badenoch sated that she was taking legal action against Staunton so to do so would indicate she believes he's lying , it'l interesting but it wouldn't surprise me that Staunton is telling the truth , we're talking about the tories here . | |

She’s given a statement in Parliament which is of course protected from libel and slander, while he’s given a statement saying he sent an e Mail to himself as a file note in December 2022 (15 months before this all kicked off) about the government asking him to delay payments and “limping” in to the next GE.
Be interesting if he could produce the e Mail and name the people he spoke to. | | | |

None of the papers are carrying the story yet, it’s only the Beeb but if this is true then I dare say there’s more to come out in the wash. Should the police open an investigation for Perverting the Course of Justice or Perjury? I reckon there’s could be a few employees / ex employees at the Post Office who’ll be sweating over an early morning knock on the door.

The people whose reputations were ruined and spent their life savings defending themselves against charges known to be lies lost their money too. If the Government has to compensate them then it's only right that those responsible bear part of the cost. | |

People can be sacked for gross misconduct and lose their pension rights but these people can keep their ill gotten gains?
Well, seeing as they may have committed crimes from which they materially benefitted through bonuses, contuing to draw wages and in some cases honours, could money be clawed back though the proceeds of crime act?
Or maybe they should just be fined whatever the maximum amount is so?
These people have brought the Post Office into disrepute, what do their contracts say? [Post edited 29 Mar 13:38]

They can lose their pension rights from when they are sacked, but anything accrued up to them, whether they have contributed or the firm is theirs. It's been earned as part of their salary. Employers can't dock pay either, unless they have overpaid etc. | | | |

When it is concluded there should be a criminal investigation around perjury & perverting the course of justice once the criminal charges of actual offences are prepared.
They deserve no let up, every consequence for their behaviour in protecting their jobs and the post office. Let them suffer for the rest of their lives like these people did. Those that killed themselves and those who lost years and years of their lives as a result of this.
It’s one of those cases where there should never be any stone left unturned and prison sentences should follow. | |
