Nah. The energy support was done within months a bit like furlough, the free prescription nonsense has been going on for years. It would be quite simple to set up a process similar to the one in England that identifies those entitled to free prescriptions and those not.

If only we had some kind of database that has all the information about how much people earn and how much tax they pay so we could refer to it, maybe we need a new government department, lets call it HMRC and have them start charging taxes... Sorry for the sarcasm.

If you work you pay. It should be as simple as that. But it's the free school meals that really get me, imagine how much that must cost? And every primary school child will get one every day. I'm glad I'm not paying the increased school fuel and grocery bill, oh wait I am.

I've long been saying it, why do we give benefits to people who dont need the money. We don't need child benefit but how do you stop it? benefits should never be universal, they should be on the basis of need, if you don't need you don't get then we can give more to people in genuine need.

They have no excuses for what they've done, no. However, if labour hadn't put Corbyn in we may never have arrived here! Lets make Bojo Prime Minister, what can possibly go wrong!

But its not really. a lot of people work and are able to claim tax credits so there would still have to a tiered system , then you read about queues forming to buy bottles of Prime which is ineffective just flavored water , I wonder how much bonus the marketing team had for that little promotion

Yes, the Corbyn era was a disaster but it was a fraction of the last 13 years. The question remains, 13 years of Conservative rule; what’s better?

Milliband was elected Labour leader 2010, somebody who was nowhere near capable of leading the party. Milliband and Corbyn add up to most of those 13 years

Fine. Tories in charge since 2010 due to labour’s ineptitude. What’s better after those 13 years of Tory rule?

We just need the same system that works in England. We don't for the sake of being different.

I often wonder what would have happened to the country if David Milliband had beaten his brother in the Labour leadership contest. That's where labour's problems began.

I've posted on here before about this, my wife is a social worker. An incredibly unmotivated one at that. She spends most of her time making sure her clients (adults with learning disabilities who live in the community) keep their bank accounts under the threshold to keep their substantial benefits. They already have more cash than she gets each month plus they don't pay council tax, bus fare and loads of other financial perks. One bought a £1500 camera he can't read the instructions to use before Christmas because he had too much money. The same person has already got a safe full of cash in his flat. Another bought an expensive TV out of old £10 notes before they expired from legal tender in currys in Morfa. He'd had the cash in rolls for so long it wouldn't unfurl at the cash desk. Her only positive spin on the situation is that she's managed to arrange some charities to benefit via direct debit. They need and deserve help, but not to be able to live life like a lottery winner.

That's quite a ridiculous statement, there are a lot of people that are in work and still in poverty. As with anything it is debatable as to where the cut off point should be. Over 15k? 20k? 30k? Is that an individual or household.... etc

All I'm calling for is a move to the same system as in England. Most people should not have free prescriptions. Even if you only earn £15k, that's enough to make a contribution towards your medicine if it's something you occasionally need.
