Should the worst happen and the Russians invade, I suspect that many rich Russians in the UK will be part of the proposed sanctions, could this affect our foes down the road?

The day Putin sanctioned the rewriting of history on Stalin, was the day we knew where he was heading. The Stalin purges that killed 20m of his own kind; the gulags; and the post-WW2 land grabs have all been diluted so as to present Stalin as a father figure.
The collapse of Stalin’s vision is credited as being the worst day for Putin and he’s worked to return Russia to its former self. Like all dictators, he’s enriched himself to such an extent that all of these oligarchs cut him in or else and he’s as rich if not richer than Bezos.
He’s amassed a war chest in the Russian central bank for the long haul. He knows the west won’t enter a fight and if they do, China will side with him if it suits them. Which it does, as they’re carrying on making money.
Frankly, it’s a total sh1t shower in the making, that has Orwell either laughing his head off or twitching nervously in his grave.
But while all this takes place, the bigger existential crisis that’s the environment goes unaddressed.

Russia and China have disputed The Amur region for 100's of years.
Huge natural resources at stake, as soon as the time appears right they will be across the Amur like a pack of hyena's

One thing that I’ve tried to explain to friends and family is that there is deeply held belief driving Putin and it’s not simply a case of him being completely nuts - which IMO is more scary.
This has to be taken into consideration when we work our response to the war and how we deal with Russia in the future.
It’s also important to remember that trying to understand their motives and beliefs doesn’t justify their actions. We are engaged in a battle of ideologies.
Trying to get to understand why Putin has taken such drastic action now had me puzzled, understanding more of the background is a help.
Theres so much to this and maybe years and years if ever getting to know exactly how the Russians have been very cute in certain parts of the west.
To me it seems the horse has bolted and certain individuals have questions to answer that allowed Putin to think his murderous campaign had more chance to suceed
The UK is coming across as a prime source for allowing Putins cohorts to influence and change our society, not that you would know it if believing our main news sources.
Lots out there if you really look, how true I suppose depends on your political leanings, but strange things have been happening, so who really knows.
Just watched The panorama programme about Abramovich. Not good viewing for Chelsea fans. Dirty money doesn't even come close to describing to some of dealings. The idea that he had nothing to do with Putin is frankly ludicrous.

That woman was incredibly brave. A lot of people in the west would participate in various demonstrations for one thing or the other but for fear of spending a night in the police cells. This woman is risking being charged with treason and sent to some god forsaken gulag in the middle of no where, if we are to believe what we have been told. God help her and others who find this courage and incredible love for their fellow humans.

The five permanent members of the UN Security Council would need to all agree to expel Russia. Russia is one of those 5, and China's there too so any motion to remove them would be vetoed. I think it works like that.
