Things that you don't have to spend a fortune on that are worth living for:

Listening to Test Match special on 5 Live
Lavazza coffee from a cafetiere
Finishing a 5k
Probably better not say my next one

Walking the dog
cuddling up in front of wood burner
seeing the smiles and hearing the laughter of children
Seeing somebody helping another
Listening to my (not anybody else's) music

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one's lifetime." Walking for me.
I can walk through the fields to the beach from where I live (not a buckets and spades beach, it overlooks Fawley refinery!).
Less than 20 minutes drive to some beautiful walks on the South Downs or the New Forest.
Try to get away to either the Lakes, Peaks, Snowdonia etc at least 2/3 times a year.

At least 2 or 3 trips away , simple pleasure ?

Making my daughter laugh.

Sitting on the beach at the end of the day with a bag of chips.

A QPR win.

Telescopic handle back scratcher. I used to rub my back on door jams for my first 39 years, not anymore, it's been the best four years of my life. They're simply the greatest invention ever.

Simple?
Yes, very.

Typing: "FT, and Rangers prevail"
Laughing with my wife
Discovering that a seed or plant I have planted is still alive
Walking through wildflower meadows / watching my own wildflower meadow come alive in the spring
Thistly Cross Scottish cider
Logging off when work is done on a Friday afternoon
Seeing my pay packet hit my e-mail inbox; after being made redundant four times, I never take gainful employment for granted
Reading the menu in a curry house mmm. 99 times out of a 100, I have the chicken biryani anyway LOL but tilapia bhuna is my new love, where available
Handcream; my hands get so dry and chapped, even a £1 tube feels like bliss
Finally being able to play a few bars of a song by one of my favourite bands
Being out in the wild where it's just me and Mrs R from Afar and the wind and the skies and nature
Watching butterflies fly, especially the slower flying ones
Helping people
Doing anything which reduces my carbon footprint, like cycling to the shops rather than driving
Reading any of Tim Moore's books about his cycling adventures
Cheese (any). Obs.
Looking at French and Italian racing cycles from the 1970s and 1980s, the ones with the old style thin tubing
Vecon on buttered toast
Hearing an owl hoot
Mending things

Oh and Mrs R from Afar just reminded me about a really important one: Chips. Ideally with gravy.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Cracking open a new book.
Getting the giggles for no reason - I can never see the name Fred Quimby without being helpless and incapable for minutes.
Driving the kids anywhere.
Getting things off a high supermarket shelf for an old lady - I blush like a six year old getting a swimming badge.
A few drinks and Wagner up loud - only allowed in an empty house.

Sitting quietly, and waiting for the latest raft of MP’s to be prosecuted for….

Bug*ery.

Thuggery.

And all sorts of Skullduggery.

Are they really the best of us?

What’s going on?

We should be told

Sort it out
