"A player is in an offside position if he is nearer to his opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent.”

So Charlie is behind the Sunderland goalie and defender when Adomah passes it no? Onside.

Can’t see any reference to which way around the goalie and a team mate have to be.

In fact;

“A player is not in an offside position if level with the:
second-last opponent or
last two opponents”

He is technically offside I think, because the Sunderland player is behind the keeper. As there isn't a player between Charlie and the keeper he is off. One of these weird rules that I remember.
I've not been arsed to google or check it, so don't shoot the messenger!

It was a legitimate goal and knocked the stuffing out of the team.

Disappointing to lose the way we did showing mental fragility in the penalties.

Also a real shame due to a poor decision our run of scoring in games has finished.

QPR it is the hope that kills you

Exactly this! Stop playing into the hands of excuse-mongers and driving expectations down. On the other hand, do just that, and we can just piddle around in the middle of the Champ and keep letting the fans down against the likes of Fulham/Peterborugh/WBA every season.

If ths team is tired this soon, even after it's been rotated, they can't call themselves professionals. I didn't see any signs of tiredness in the Sunderland team.

I am at an utter loss to understand that excellent clutch of penalties vs Everton, and that sorry shower (Dykes apart) tonight. It really looked like self-sabotage. Barbet and Chair, in particular, should hang their heads in shame tonight, though Stroud should slit his wrists.

I'm sorry you don't like it but that's the way they looked to me. Knackered.

It's not an excuse, and I agree that at this point in the season they shouldn't. I have no idea why they did, but they looked listless and out of gas well before half-time. Overall Kakay was our best player by some distance. The penalty loss was absolutely no surprise at all, though the manner of most of the shots just underline my point.

Just seen the reply, if there is an offside it is when the ball is play across to your player on the near side Austin was not offside. Very tight as our defender is moving towards the hogan, so is well behind your player when the ball gets to him.

We did though Ted.
Didn't play the best, but kept a clean sheet and scored a perfectly good goal.

Could we and should we have played better? Yeah not going to argue there. Tough to take is all.

Look I've calmed down a bit

We scored a perfectly legal goal that was disallowed, that's a bastard to take but yes theses things happen, what disappoints me though is we had the opportunity to put it right in the penalty shoot out and we didnt, we have good players to take penalties we all know that and I was wrongly oozing with confidence when Charlie stepped up, christ alive our penalties were bloody awful almost unprofessional and thats what let us down.

Golden opportunity tonight for the club and we've let it slip away by being poor from the penalty spot.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

Yes if it's like VAR implemented outside the Prem e.g. at the Euros, no if it's the same team as do the Prem

We will try to remind the world about what you did in 1967 by emulating it. If we get to the final ( which I don’t think we will) I am certain they will be lots of replays of that famous day for you. I remember watching it on the TV. Was supporting you that day.

I think we deserved it, we didn't feign injury to waste time, we didn't concede, we scored in normal time.

Thought Kakay was one of our best players tonight and was a bit confused by his removal, as Sunderland immediately started playing it in behind Unc. Setup a couple of good chances too. Both the Moses and Ossy played well imho.

Amos did the little things really and tided up a lot but didn't impose himself on the game next to chair.

Thought Grey went down a bit early in the box but put in a shift, looked keen to me.

Anyone noticed Dykes can't buy a F**king decision from any ref at the moment?

Stunned we've done so well at Penalties given the practice we get in the league.

I don’t think anyone has mentioned that Albert’s show was also blocked by a handball.

Thats even better, not offside AND handball, brilliant.

It's being so happy that keeps me going.

It is puzzling how we can score all 8 penalties against Everton and then only score one out of 4 tonight. Where did the composure go?

The disallowed goal is even more of a sickener as it ended our sequence of scoring in every match. Still I guess we have still scored in every league game.

On top of those two, I think there’s a third…. If the ball came off a Sunderland player (handball aside) then Austin can’t be offside (even though he already wasn’t).

That is poor from the lino. Could maybe understand if there were lots of players in the way but he would have had a clear line of sight of everything

I sat level with the goal and as the photo shows it wasn’t even close. And it was certainly handball which I said at the time. If there is some good that comes out of this then it would be that the cûnt midget Stroud is struck off from referring any kind of match in the future and that his lino is shoved right up his arÅ›e. There is no doubt about it we was cheated out of the win tonight. Cheated. I suspect that Clive will award his first minus mark for that cünt in his report.

Was in South Africa Road level with the goal end at the loft. Was sure Austin was offside and was expecting linesman to flag.

He didn't. And ref gave the goal then the linesman put flag up after allowing all fans to celebrate the goal and all players also.

I hadn't seen the player behind the keeper myself.

Was though one those games where hard get excited or pissed off.

Was impressed by Amos. Thought was tidy performance. Bit better from Gray and two opportunities for Austin. If the volley had gone in would have broken back the net.

Both Moses and Kakay played well.

The excitement wasn't there for the shootout before either unlike the Everton game.

Perhaps going first and at loft end was actually a backhanded disadvantage.

But after Charlie's worst pen of his career the writing was on the wall.

We are competitive in our league but it's 50 50 at best to be in play offs

A bad run that needs stopping on Friday

We not turned into bad team overnight but lot players playing in random positions and perhaps a little too much experimentation at moment

Was pretty dull mostly tonite and even the shoot out lacked anything interesting

Hey ho !!!

We are QPR after all.

Used to the shit with the shit !!!

Absolutely we could criticise the penalty takers for letting that awful decision get to them, instead of getting on with it and thinking about the lino's face on a dartboard later, but the fact remains that we gave as good as we got against a fired up side riding high in the league and ready to play in the championship next season, and literally did enough to win the game with a goal that had no business being disallowed. So I am not going to hear any criticism of the players' performance over the 90 minutes, nor of Warburton's decisions before and during the game.

What a load of rubbish: both Warburton and most of the players deserve criticism after that.

So you're seriously suggesting that Chair and Barbet took such abominable kicks because they just couldn't raise the energy to try and score them and get us through to a cup QF? Behave! If that's true, let's all just watch Chesham United!

That said, I'm sure the players were affected mentally by the disallowed goal, which was such a bad decision it makes you wonder about corruption. Where is the accountability for any of these officials? I'm quite sure we'd have gone through had the goal stood as it should have, and I empathise with Warburton tonight, who looked absolutely disconsolate in the post-match interview. However, the best players deal pscyhologically with adversity rather than folding, and, had we done so, we could have made sure we booked our place in the quarters regardless. So much for having your experienced players to get you over the line (Charlie, Barbet) - they really let us down tonight!

The set-up was still wrong - Albert should have started, and it was a stupid idea to push Chair back into midfield and have him hunting for the ball so deep. We also worked their keeper terribly little in the second half particularly, even with two strikers up top. I also think Warburton may have to give up on Gray and send him back - we might as well have Bonne or Kelman in there for all he's contributing. At best, we remain a work in progress.

Forest now feels a pressure game, and we need a proper 90 min performance that leaves nothing/everything on the pitch. The players will need a win to get tonight out of their system. And so will I.

Poll: What should the club do now (assuming no imminent change of owners)?

I'm with you Saxbend. Perfectly OK and considered team selection and substitutions plus all the players trying hard with a clear enough plan.

As much as I’d like to blame Stroud for that,he can only go by what the Lino tells him.He can overrule him but it would take a brave ref to do that to someone who supposedly has a better view.
It’s all the linos fault.
