We definitely needed a defensive minded midfielder- if only to free Morley to play further forward. My one concern would be his lack of experience- would rather we had signed someone with 200 games under their belt to really help organise the defence. 6'3" according to Wiki and Soccerbase (admittedly, unreliable and probably from the same source).
This has got EOC replacement written all over it, but if he can play holding midfield he will add extra height for defending (and attacking) set pieces. I hope he doesn't mind holding hands. |  | | |

We're signing Conor Shaughnessy, not Harry Maguire. I'd also be happy with him being a good defender if that's where he'll play, and would share your lack of discouragement. Scoring goals has been fixed (touch wood). Conceding is still very much a work in progress. |  |
