Oh spare me the faux outrage , you support someone who openly uses phrases such as piccaninnies with watermelon smiles, and tank topped bum boys. Jeremy Corbyn is not a racist or anti Semite . Old shagger Johnson isn’t fit to shine his shoes
The suspension of Corbyn has nothing to do with Johnson, or anyone else. Corbyn has been suspended because of his own deleterious conduct and incompetence in dealing with unlawful acts.
The EHRC found that the Labour Party had committed criminal acts. Corbyn was leader of the Party.
Suspension from the Party is the minimum sanction he could have expected.
Stop trying to muddy the waters by naming others that have no connection whatsoever to the root cause of the problem.

He was suspended because he said the claims were overstated . Fact. I bring other things to the debate to highlight the sheer hypocrisy on display. Edit The EHRC are only doing their job. ... 🤔... Apparently their job is deceptively underhand. https://skwawkbox.org/2020/06/26/ehrc-director-failed-to-declare-donations-to-to

I don't know where you think the hypocrisy is coming from, but facts are facts. Whatever reason was given for his suspension (which he is now appealing) - the report makes clear that what went on under his leadership was unlawful. Had he still been leader, he would surely have been suspended today anyway.
For far too long, those on the Left have assumed - and i use that word advisedly - the moral high ground. I've no idea why, though
It's instructive (there's that word again) for us to see the immediate reaction of those same moral highgrounders to defend Corbyn rather than condemn the outright racism inherent within the party he led. Wherever it exists, it should be condemned, whether Labour, Tory or anywhere else
On a day when it's being exposed to the full glare of publicity, it'd be better to remain silent than to defend it

I haven’t defended anyone ,please show me where I have. I’ve merely pointed out the selective outrage on display . The Tory party has more racists in it than Labour has anti semites. No investigation though because Boris promised he would do his own . He hasn’t . It’s very instructive that you aren’t outraged by that . Your op was designed to encourage a full gammon pile on, and it’s worked . I thought you were done with political posts?.
Tony Blair wasn’t suspended from Labour and he took us into an illegal war that killed thousands , I’m a bit more offended by that.

I agree, racists should be fully exposed. Whether it be Corbyn or whoever.
There is clearly no doubt now about the racist anti-semitism in the Labour Party, and the lack of leadership to deal with it under Corbyn.
A former Labour leader Michael Foot once wrote the 'longest suicide note in history', the 1983 General Election manifesto.
It is my hope that the appalling response to the EHRC by Corbyn, writing within minutes of the commission's 'dramatically overstated' report, becomes the shortest suicide note in political history.
It is time the Labour Party is rid of him so that the country has an effective political opposition.
The only thing this will do in the short term is split the Labour party up. All I've seen is 'I'm not voting Labour again because of this, back to the Greens' etc. A party already divided will now become even more divided.
Whilst Momentum wield so much power on the Labour membership, as per the previous GE's they will continue to do more damage than good.

The Jewish Telegraph have tonight written to the Labour Party to make official complaints about anti-semitism against some very senior M.P's.
They include Diane Abbott, Barry Gardiner, Richard Burgon, Rachel Long-Bailey, Angela Rayner and Emily Thornberry amongst others. Even Dame Shami Chakrabati is being targeted for allegedly producing a 'whitewash report' into Labour anti-semitism in return for a seat in the House of Lords.
I wonder if they will all be suspended. They should be.

He can now have dinner with Ken Livingston. Socially distanced of course
Incompetent man that ensured there was no opposition to the Tories throughout his leadership.
Absolutely clueless. Not saying corbyn was perfect, but his record in parliament suggests he was an effective opposition to the government.
He was never going to be elected, his politics are seen as too extreme in this country and post too big a risk to those who held the power to sway an election in this country. But to suggest he wasn’t a good opposition leader, in my opinion is nonsense.
Leader of the little gang of immature cretins.

Aye, that lead to Labour’s biggest electoral defeat since 1935, fantastic leadership (for the Tories) I’m now awaiting the Corbyn apologists to pipe up and make up every excuse how it was everything else but Corbyn (Brexit etc etc etc)

Corbyn has been in the vanguard of holding Israel accountable for the illegal acts the government / armed forces have committed over the years. 52 breaches of UN resolutions is a damaging indictment for any country. However he has made multiple misjudgements in his actions and words in trying to even up what he sees as injustices. That attitude seems to have prevailed in his handling of this saga as leader. His vision for this country I fully endorsed but he was not a leader in any sense. Diane Abbot as shadow Home Secretary, come on! Do I want him to lead, no. Do I want his voice in parliament, a resounding yes. There will always be more than one way to to a government to account, be it Tory or Labour. I just hope Starmer has a route out of this. As a barrister he should know the result he wants.

Agree on both your points. FPTP makes both our leading Parties become coalitions of opposites - as with the neo-Liberal, Brexiteer, small-state wing of the Tories v the big state, one-nation wing. So too in Labour. It's also what wrongly excluded the Brexit Party (or Greens) from proper representation in Parliament. When either wing becomes dominant electoral success is jeopardised. Corbyn and Farage represent a (minority) view in the country but those views should be heard clearly in Parliament. PR would allow that to happen. The dilemma now for the Corbyn wing is whether they continue the (pointless) battle to turn Labour into a socialist Party or support a FPTP victory by a social democratic alliance - the alliance which won the popular vote in December by over 1M votes.

Why should they be suspended on the day so of a newspaper? After all it’s not as though newspapers don’t make things up, is it? Wether or not Jewish people back Corbyn on this depends on their politics. The Jewish Telegraph, like The Telegraph is not a paper that naturally supports left of centre politics, so it’s no surprise that it attacks those mentioned. If there is proof of wrong doing, then an internal LP investigation will sort them out. If you can point out any anti Semitic action of theirs, please let us know.

The source of the complaint isn't relevant. I'm sure the complaints will be outlined in full, in the letter sent to Labour Party HQ. (copy available on Twitter).
When allegations of unlawful acts are made, it's pretty standard these days for those members of staff to be suspended whilst a full investigation takes place.
The PLP and the Leader of the party should now be seen to act. They need to avoid previous apathy and ineptitude if they want to restore public confidence.
All parties need to re-assess their stance on how they deal with these situations, whether it be Labour and anti-Semitism or the allegations of Islamophobia in the Tory party. Both have been a problem and it will come back to bite them on the ar*e unless there is a clear and comprehensive effort to root out and identify the perpetrators. No half measures.

Please point out the anti Semitic views said, bearing in mind that having a go at a State or a political ideology is not anti Semitic or Racist. For example, having a go at the vile actions of Islamic State, is not racism, but attacking them because of their religion or race would be.

Ok then, I will make a complaint that all 300 plus Tory MPs have been racist, and they will be suspended while a full investigation takes place by the Conservative Party. Or about, accusing all of the SNP parliamentary party of racist actions against English people, that should be them suspended until a full investigation takes place. No, investigations take place when there is reasonable highlighting of wrongful actions.

I think you'll find that there is a difference between an obviously frivolous, vexatious complaint and a complaint which is based on fact.
Part of the allegations made previously (and looked at by the ECHR) were that the complaints against several M.P.'s were 'brushed under the carpet' by the leadership and effectively ignored. The Labour Party is now being given the opportunity to re-investigate those matters fully and properly.
It remains to be seen what action they take or whether Keir Starmer has the stomach to deal with and investigate the complaints against those (many senior) members previously cited.

Kier Starmer has simply done (in a much shorter timescale) exactly the same that Corbyn & co did when they came to power, de stabilise & purge his opponents. The irony is that Corbyn & his allies gave Starmer all the ammunition he needed due to their appalling behaviour towards Jewish members of the party. Sadly the backlash from the left wing of the party has already begun, a lack of acceptance never mind contrition & a dogged re affirmation of tired & discredited slogans. It’s high time Abbot, McCluskey & co either accepted their collective failure & worked for the good of the party instead of their own outdated ideology or shuffle off into political oblivion. It never ceases to amaze (or depress) me that the party I voted for all of my life up til the last election seems destined to repeat past mistakes ad nauseum. Have they learnt nothing from the fiasco of the 1980’s? The infamous party conference where Neil Kinnock pointed out some harsh home truths about hard left doctrinal politics while being shouted at from the conference floor by the Derek Hatton appreciation society? Momentum may have gained control of large swathes of the party apparatus but they have committed the classic mistake of believing in their own mantras & not looking at the bigger picture. Certain things should be written in stone at the entrance to Labour Party HQ - “You will NEVER win an election unless you appeal to a broad section of the British public” It’s not rocket science is it? Unfortunately the last election & the fallout from it is likely to result in many decent grass roots labour activists having plenty of time to ponder the errors of their leaders.

Corbyn handled the situation badly. When asked to condemn anti semitism he should have done that and only that he didn't need to say he condemns all forms of bigotry. He could have said he condemned bigotry against other groups when asked about those.
I do not doubt some groups did use the AS in the LP to their advantage. JC however played right into their hands, by not clamping down on it.

a heartfelt defence of a social democratic Labour Party with 'broad appeal' policies which (as I've said earlier) are the only way in a FPTP system - did you abstain or vote for another Party? So what do you think decent socialist Labour Party members should do - stay and fight for policies they disagree with or leave and take their activism with them?

I voted for another party, I hope for the first & last time! On your question re socialist Labour members. They should definitely stay, a broad church with diverse opinions is always a better platform to stimulate debate & hopefully thrash out policy that can be put to the electorate. Labour unfortunately has been split between moderates & more radical ideologies for 40-50 years. I honestly don’t know how to square that circle, I can see a permanent split taking place, moderate Labour seems more aligned to Liberalism at the moment.

I think you'll find that your 'argument' actually confirms his anti-semitic behavior, disproportionately focusing on Israel and holding that country to different standards compared to others:
