radio bolton. on 21:46 - Feb 24 by DaleiLama | Don't hold your breath 49th. I got the standard copy paste others have got and you will too no doubt. Perhaps we should send them to quest? "Thank you for contacting us about BBC Radio Manchester. We note your comments about the coverage of Bolton football club. We know that not everyone will agree with our choices on which stories to cover, or the order in which they appear. Editorial decisions are more of a judgement call, than an exact science — so you’ll even find variety from one BBC programme to the next. Time constraints, the expected audience profile and the style of each bulletin or current affairs programme can all play a part. Our editors make these complex decisions, based on the editorial merit of all the stories at hand. We accept that not everyone will agree with each decision — various factors are at play and there’s often debate in the production room too. The BBC never takes a position on anything that we cover. It is important to recognise that a fundamental part of the role of our correspondents/sports journalists is to offer analysis, using their experience and knowledge, but this is not indicative of bias. We would like to thank you for your feedback which is incredibly valuable to us and is formally logged and reported daily to all staff across the BBC, helping us gain a snapshot of audience opinion and evolving tastes on a range of issues that overall helps us to shape future decisions and directions in our programme-making. Once more, thank you for taking the time to contact us. Kind regards, Lucy Ryan BBC Complaints Team " I felt slightly better after firing this off. "Dear Lucy, Thanks for your reply. Tonight is the 7th consecutive game covering Bolton live. Regrettably, I am not stupid, and the drivel which you have copied and pasted above is an insult to anyone with even the smallest iota of intelligence. You really can reply to complaints in any way you want. At a time when the BBC needs as many friends as it can get though, due to the hugely competitive media offering available currently, I would have thought it might not be in your best interests to treat listeners like idiots. These listeners are the ones who are switching off in droves. I hope everyone at the BBC realises what this means? I also hope this is read out in your next production meeting. Ignore the people paying your wages at your peril. I know this will fall on either deaf ears or the ears of those who don't care. Good luck with the move from media city to Bolton. A disillusioned Dale fan who no longer listens to the BBC and will not be renewing his license". [Post edited 24 Feb 2020 21:46]

Although we manage this for most complaints, we regret it’s not been possible so far because of the delays resulting from having far fewer staff at present because of the consequences of the coronavirus epidemic. If you wish to refer this delay and the substance of your complaint to the BBC’s regulator Ofcom, you can do so online at https://www.ofcom.org.uk/tv-radio-and-on-demand/how-to-report-a-complaint/bbc-tv or by post to: Ofcom, Riverside House, 2a Southwark Bridge Road, London SE1 9HA. Please include for Ofcom your latest correspondence from and to the BBC and any BBC case reference numbers which you have been given. Like other organisations we have fewer staff able to work normally at the moment, but we’re of course sorry you’ve had to wait so long for a response. We appreciate that you were dissatisfied with our previous response and felt strongly enough to write to us again. As you know we have a wealth of football in this patch — eight clubs in total. We have covered them all, sending reporters to all games on a Saturday and at other times. It’s part of what we do, local interviews, news and views. We have commentary deals with seven of them. We choose our commentary games carefully, considering editorial decisions, fan base, local derbies, relegation battles and promotion chases. Reports on the other games are given frequently in all commentary games. All clubs are featured across the season, but inevitably some more than others. We do regret that you were unhappy and we have read and noted your points, but don’t consider they suggest evidence of a possible breach of standards. Opinions do vary widely about the BBC and its output, but this does not necessarily imply there has been a breach of standards or of the BBC’s public service obligations. For this reason we regret we don’t have more to add, and so will not respond further or address more questions or points. If you are dissatisfied with this decision you may ask the BBC’s Executive Complaints Unit(ECU) to review it. Details of the BBC complaints process are available at http://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/handle-complaint/ where you can read the BBC’s full complaints framework. You should contact the ECU within 20 working days of receiving this reply. You will need to explain why you believe there may have been a have been a potential breach of standards or other significant issue for it to investigate. More meaningless drivel. They are a complete shambles. Nothing will change, even now that BWFC are in League Two. BBC Radio Manchester has been the 'Wanderers Weekly' for too long. They may well have agreements with other clubs, but Bolton clearly has priority, and the facts speak for themselves.

radio bolton. on 16:54 - Jun 18 with 4166 views | fitzochris | Quite simply, the BBC need to acknowledge whether or not they have a financial/commercial agreement in place with Bolton that results in Bolton receiving a greater degree of coverage than other local teams (by accident or design). If the answer to this is yes, then it is very natural and correct that licence-fee payers who support other clubs in the region of coverage have a grievance at the disparity. I had undertaken an FOI to this effect with the BBC and had not received a satisfactory response. Then COVID happened and I dropped it. If, when football returns, the disparity continues, I will pick this up again.

Does this look familiar Sandyman? Just found this in an email account I seldom use, to reduce spam in my main account. Tough job copy/pasting all day? Almost makes it look like they have a template to copy from as they get so many similar complaints? "Thank you for getting in touch again with your complaint. We're sorry you had to come back to us and we appreciate why. We always aim to address the specific points raised by our audience and regret any cases where we’ve failed to do this. radio bolton. on 12:53 - Aug 6 with 2793 views | SuddenLad | To be fair, JImmy Wagg has been a humorous and popular radio presenter on more than one local BBC radio programme for 30 years. He has been a great servant to the sporting public of Manchester and surrounding areas and has actively promoted non-league football whenever he can. He has never made a secret of the fact he's a dyed-in-the-wool City fan and has always said positive things about our club. The policies and broadcasting contracts of the BBC are what dictate his restrictions and limitations whilst broadcasting, so maybe he's had enough of it as well? He also has an autistic son to look after and on a personal level, I wish him well and thank him for the laughs and his positive contributions towards Dale over the years.

100% agree He never missed a Saturday sports programme on Radio Manchester (GMR) in 31 years (1989 to last Saturday) - something we'll never see the like of again I spoke to him on more than one occasion (usually next to the radio van outside the ground) and he was always happy to discuss football and the Dale especially. A genuinely good bloke who gave us and the other local clubs outside the Premiership great publicity His final Saturday programme - Boston vs Altrincham match commentary - from around 3 hours 23 minutes well worth listening to https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p08lxw3w
