Fancy stuff for the ground (everyone else has) 11:02 - Feb 2 with 4624 viewsKenBoon

So since we're lush with dollars (apparently that is how the kids talk on tiktok) Spotland is looking pretty tired. I think it's about time we brought it into 1998 and got ourselves one of those fancy telly scoreboards. Not the flippy one that was clearly just a way to get advertisements facing the main road. Just a regular telly scoreboard. For stuff like the score, information, highlights and.. advertising! Our excellent commercial department could really do with this extra money generating option.

136" weatherproof panel ...£16,000 plus fitting
https://aqualiteoutdoor.com/big-screen-led-signs-billboards/

7 adverts per game @ £100 each x 23 = £16k plus easy advertising for lottery, next home game, early bird season tickets, FA cup tickets, team sheets, etc With a bit of imagination it could probably raise £25k a season quite easily

Looks like a no brainer

I get where you're headed and agree it would be a good investment but I think the one you've highlighted there is just for static advertising and wouldn't play video etc or have sound output.

To get something the size of what we've seen elsewhere with full capabilities will go an awful lot more than just £16k. Otherwise I think we would've done it already.

Also throw in the fitting costs, maintenance, training or hiring of a staff member to produce content for it and it becomes an expensive do!

Even if this screen does not run video, it is still capable,of being a profitable addition to the clubs income streams. It might even be possible to put another one on the end of the wilbutts lane stand next to sandy lane to use as an advertising point for passing motorists running 24/7 it could easily earn £500 a week.

Wonder how much those digital perimeter panels cost? A few 10 metre runs of those would be good too.

Just ask Accrington how much theirs cost and whether it’s worth it. That would be fine.

Poll: Greatest Ever Dale Game

So many clubs have them they must return a profit.

This is a club that cannot turn down the hideous aural assault from its speakers. And which employs a man to yell into the associated microphone.

I think 1998 will come too soon for it.

How true.

We don't score enough to justify a scoreboard do we? Advertising may work. Incontinence pads and polyester trousers here we come. Chorley FM coming in your ears

If we can bring ourselves up to 1998 it would be good to see the proposed electronic tickets/season tickets come to fruition. We have had 3 CEOs since it was promised "by next season". Surely we will buy into it this time? And the club can use the data to see who is attending etc and target offers

Perhaps it could be tuned into radio Bolton for match highlights,,

The Fixture Board at the Sandy corner is now looking a bit tatty (promotes Goldbond that no longer exists) but features every week or so on twitter in the Fans Gallery.....surely the Trust could sponsor a new one that looks fit for purpose in 21st Century?

Or even our good friends at Crown Oil might cough up a few quid ........it's a prime location for advertising.

Someone mentioned the super set up at Wolves on the Mathewson thread....could we not borrow their PR man (as another add-on?) to have a look at where San Spotty needs to be brought a bit more up to date?

We have a poster I forget who who said they could replace the old board on the sandy / Wilbutts corner with something electronic for £4k

If that poster reads this and the offer is there please contact the club and offer your help as that board is desperately in need of changing.
