I really wonder why anyone in the public eye bothers with Twitter. Whatever you do, whatever you say, there are hordes of angry people out there waiting to pick up on you and drag you over the coals, regardless of if you've said anything outrageous or not, or deliberately or not.
I suppose there's some people out there who love the outrage they cause and the attention it garners them (Hopkins, Morgan et al...) but for the average well known person...gawd knows.
Same goes for footballers really, why bother?
Glad I have nothing to do with it, horrible place.

But these easily offended fukwits are doing far reaching damage to tackling racism.
We used to react to racism and call it out. Now people are actively seeking it out where it doesn't exist.

In defence of the ‘easily offended fck wits’ at the very least what Alastair Stewart said was extremely insensitive because of the historical tropes.
Racism is a complicated and veiled thing. It’s rarely the NF marching up and down the high street anymore so harder to call out it’s more grey than that. This means well meaning people will jump at ghosts that arn’t there sometimes.

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot

Still tickles me that Stewart thought he'd use his intellect (or, at least, Shakespeare's verbatim) to put the bloke down but was too thick to see the elephant in the room that would get himself the tin tack.
The words hoisted and petard spring to mind.

Arrrrrrrrr... Why study the works o' Shakespeare when more profound messages can be found in the metaphor-rich lyrics o' Stormzy, such as ’suck my d*ck’?
Yo Ho!

It don’t matter what creed , colour , religion , sexuality you are if your a nasty piece of work then your a nasty piece of work and deserved to be called out on it People like you need to stop making everything about Race people are fed up of being accused of it at a drop of a hat it’s boring now And before you start going on about racism Isn’t boring I agree with you it isn’t and real racist issues need dealing with and sorting so maybe we can all get on with it and start living lives without the fear of upsetting everyone
Alistair Stewart tried to be clever and pompous , but racist no

As an avid reader of all things Shakespeare my all time favourite Shakespeare quote is "Beware the Ides of February."
My second all time favourite quote is from the play Paradise City, "And suddenly, suddenly he did a little syncopole or a drop-it and how, or something he did and caused a jerkit over a pimplode and I've been suffering ever since!"
Tedward, I have been in such a Branston pickle since I saw you last.

Before you shit your pants with anger, I have never said once that Alastair Stewart was racist.
Nor to my recollection have I EVER called anyone racist on here. Closest I got was when 2T2B called someone a ‘big black cnt’.

Not me who is angry my friend I think you are judging by your post You were fresh coming on here saying
“defence of the ‘easily offended fck wits’ at the very least what Alastair Stewart said was extremely insensitive because of the historical tropes. “
So quoting Shakespeare is offensive Now ???
And if your talking about Racism being a veiled thing are you in agreement that the “victim” mr shapeland is actually a racist himself

Nope. Didn’t say quoting Shakespeare was racist. Didn’t even say Alaistair Stewart was racist.
Just saying, that if you know there is a history of people calling black people apes as an insult, maybe consider not quoting ape related literature it at them in a argument, even when you don’t mean it in a racist way.
A bit like telling Stevie Wonder to watch where he’s going after he bumps into you or buying your Nan a Wilkinson’s sword for her moustache.

Why isn’t he ?
Was just wondering the same. He has prefixed every single comment with 'White' If anybody else had done the same and used the word 'Black' there would be screaming hordes carrying torches and pitchforks.

Apparently it wasn't a single tweet that was the problem but a run of tweets so not just the ape comment. From the guy on Twitter plus from the journalist Kate Maltby.

So basically your in agreement that Alistair Stewart shouldn’t of been chastised or made to resign then and that the hysterical reaction to his Shakespeare tweet is a load of bollox
