England's Ashes squad announced on 19:34 - Aug 4 by exiledclaseboy | They’ve been proving you wrong all summer so let’s hope tomorrow is no different. |
Indeed🤣. Sadly, I’m going to be right sometime. Seriously though, I feel there is a soft underbelly to our batting and I fear the mid order collapse which we’ve seen all too often. And the pressure on a last day is great when you’ve just got to stay in. I’ll be surprised but delighted if they prove me wrong.

Australia’s batting (smith aside obviously) is no great shakes and they dominated comfortably today. Lyon will be key on the final day. Australia should win from here though.

It was turning more than I thought at the end of today. Not sure who will get the best out of a day 5 pitch tomorrow but the ‘problem’ is that England are going to be defensive with everything to lose. Australia can be gung home a bit like they were towards the end of their innings today. They have (cough, spit) earned the right to be in that position however given their scorecard today.

I don’t think England will be particularly defensive, look at the batting line up. It’s not in their nature. I’m not saying they’ll try chasing and go all gung ho but they won’t try and block all day and if they do they’re doomed anyway.

England's Ashes squad announced on 08:08 - Aug 5 with 1104 views | sainthelens | Was thinking yesterday this was all over and the Aussies would walk it now. But as can't see it fizzlin to a draw ( I don't think England have that mentality) is it possibly worth a tenner @33/1 they'll get the win. Only 4 an over, attacking field means gaps. Roy, Butler Stokes won't be blocking it out. Just can't see this playing to a draw.

It worked for Dennis Lillee in the 3rd Test @ Headingley in 1981. 😂 He put £10 on England to win @ 500/1, and Botham and Willis helped him out. England will have to rewrite Ashes history to win this match. Only once have they scored 398 or more in a 4th innings. A draw is the only result England will look at, and then they're going to need the weather to help them achieve that. [Post edited 5 Aug 2019 8:52]

Sorry, which England batsman are you referring to? It's a bit of a blanket statement.

Take your pick!. It’s the soft underbelly I referred to yesterday. I’ve not seen any play today, just keep looking at the score and sadly nothing has surprised me yet.

Root is the only test match batsman in the top order. Bairstow needs a big score to keep his place. Ali needs a rest to get his confidence back.

England's Ashes squad announced on 13:13 - Aug 5 with 971 views | theloneranger | I can't understand Australia's field positions for Nathan Lyon, and the pressure England are under. The old Australia captains will be turning in their graves!! They'd have had an umbrella field with wicket keeper, slips, leg slip, gully, leg gully, short leg, silly point, and even a silly mid on/off

It will come I think - especially now Root is out. The left-handers must be shittiñg pineapples.

398 on that wicket (never mind a number of left-handers and a world class spinner) was never even remotely on. Take 100 off and 33/1 sounds about right.
