Going back about 5 years ago you could always get a Swansea to London return for around £25 if booked well in advance and travelling off peak or weekend. The cheapest I get now is around £38 although I do not go up often these days now I am retired.

East coast trains on 22:12 - Feb 7 by pikeypaul | I used to do Swansea to London Paddington return twice a week. Swansea to London was £76 booked a day or two before if I booked 2 seperate tickets Swansea to Swindon and Swindon to London it was £49. And both tickets bought at the same time at Swansea station on the same train and sat in the same seat the entire journey. [Post edited 7 Feb 2018 22:15]

Split ticketing. A lot can be saved by it if you have the time and inclination. There are web sites that will work it out for you. https://www.splitticketing.com [Post edited 7 Feb 2018 22:30]

What a self-righteous, ignorant response. I'd expect nothing else from a quivering bell whiff such as yourself. Those 'losers' as you put it if they didn't work then you'd be calling them all scroungers instead. The same 'losers' who keep this country ticking over.

You obviously have the time. Spilt ticketing is a load of old Tosh. Just like Utility switching etc. There should be one Public Sector supplier for each essential service.

I think Pikey is a WUM. Surely no one could be so shallow in their arguments and uncaring towards their fellow man? This poster is useful though. He gives the opportunity to challenge his views and put your own argument forward. One of the many things he hasn't learnt is 'self praise is no praise' ;-)

Split ticketing is not a load of old tosh - see my post on page 1. Granted it doesn’t exist for every journey but I’ve seen this many times.

Sorry I did not explain myself clearly. There are savings to be made. The point is it should not be necessary. The whole franchise system is a clusterfeck. Same as switching banks. Utility comparison. Insurances etc etc. We could spend our lives on tinternet effing about with these things.

I agree, it’s a shambles and there is a distinct lack of transparency. The end result is that the consumer ends up paying over the odds.

I've always been able to do it cheaper myself than this website and it takes me all of five minutes if that. There are 2 routes from Wrexham to London Euston, via Crewe or via Birmingham. The website doesn't give you an option and only shows routes via Crewe which are rarely the cheapest. The other week Euston to Chester was £38 the same as it was to Wrexham. However, if I booked the same journey/same train but to Ruabon (next station on line, but changing trains at Wrexham) it was only £32. Saved ourselves £12 in total and didn't use the Ruabon ticket. Enough for a coffee and a Paul's cake at Euston.

Unfortunately he has no arguments. But he is handy to bounce opinions on nevertheless . Rudeness just proves he is losing the debate.

I rest my case. It's a complete Clusterfeck. People died when this franchise nonsense started and now it is a case of wheeling and dealing just to get a rail ticket from A to B. [Post edited 8 Feb 2018 12:57]

Who has run to the mods? Not me for sure. Try to keep it civilised and you might get a better press. A bit of substance to your arguments might help. I have no doubt you can save the punters a bit of money nod nod wink wink. The point I am making ia it shouldn't be necessary. Nationalise the railways. [Post edited 8 Feb 2018 13:28]

I don't think anyone is jealous of you, I think the word is 'pity' as in pitiful how someone can turn into a right massive quim because they have some money and don't need to work. As if you think you are above everyone on this forum - absolute scum.
