Tammy was awful yesterday, time for a rethink. 13:29 - Dec 3 with 11281 views | TheResurrection | I've been too depressed to talk about the Swans on here, but this is what I saw. Tammy is non existent in too many of our games, he hasn't got a hold up game and like I've said before if he's not scoring he's not doing anything really. Yeah he's not helped by Clements safety at all costs regime and we are showing almost zero courage on the ball, it's just Monkball all over again. So, for me he's got to try Tammy in the Siggy role of last season, out wide with a more free role and in a 433. He blew Mesa out yesterday and we lost all continuity in the middle of the park. I'm confident had he played we'd have beaten Stoke. Clement disgusts me

Tammy was awful yesterday, time for a rethink. on 23:37 - Dec 4 with 1425 views | ZZoric | OP continues to make insightful positive posts - yet is so way off the mark with mesa, unfortunately whilst makelele had a watching brief over the midfield 3 - mesa, understandably had no chance. Since his departure PC buckled under duress and started the mesa-uppa. The moment Mesa was replaced in CM vs chelsea - we looked like a proactive passing team - driving thru the midfield aka swans way, creating opportunities etc. mesa is a classic reactive scrambling g scurrying CM - precisely not what we need nor what is our identity in this pivotal role. he reacts - he doesnt proactively engage. amateurish at best. shockingly poor at worst nobody has offered a cogent rationale for mesa's inclusion - worse still, there seems to be a weak blind faith that he's the messaiah (pun intended). why ? cos we spent a massive waste of £11m? £11,000,000 on a semi-pro merthyr level player (yeah seriously). ffs. wtf. take a closer look at the players' reaction at his ludicrous, juvenile, embarrassing initiation song - warra clown take a closer look at Llorente's reaction to him - says it all - a fellow spaniard, awkward in his company take a closer look at how disappointingly he points for the defenders (or worse still, his fellow midfielders) to clear the ball - INSTEAD of taking responsibility himself as the pivotal CM demanding the ball and controlling, driving the game warra total waste of £11,000,000

Tammy was awful yesterday, time for a rethink. on 08:38 - Dec 5 with 1341 views | Dr_Winston | There's an awful lot of shit spouted about most of our players (the regular declarations that they're all "Championship Class at best", "League One Class at best" etc being particularly tedious) but the bizarre attempts to make Roque Mesa, a player who has gone toe to toe with the Real Madrid midfield and come away with distinction out to be some sort of non league chancer are perhaps the most insane.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

If people don't rate him then fair enough, but some of the comments, especially the last post are nothing short of a joke.

It’s not always easy to distinguish between an individual player and how he affects the team. There are plenty of things we can validly criticise Mesa for, it’s hard to argue we don’t look a better, more balanced side when he is playing though.
Tammy was awful yesterday, time for a rethink. on 10:58 - Dec 5 with 1276 views | jasper_T | We looked a lot more comfortable when he went off against Chelsea (although that had a lot to do with Chelsea sitting off). Against United the midfield was constantly bypassed due to his poor positioning. Maybe Makelele could have given him some instruction instead of having a 90min strop on the bench.

United was a poor game for him, and I do agree he is suspect when we are defending. But against teams around us, who we should be having a share of possession with, he is imperative.

Everything in this post above is complete garbage. And he was not at fault for United, not one bit. I've slowed down their first from all angles and the only culprit there was Rangel who was struggling to get back into place after running the ball straight back to them on the half way line. Lindgaard had roamed free in behind, Rangel should've been on this and closing the gap between him and the centre half and the next bank of our defenders, of which were nicely in shape... From memory it was Ki, Mesa and Carroll. Mesa's job wasn't to go and track back there and pick Lindgaard up, otherwise he would've broken the line and left an open space for whoever it was that passed it through to advance into. It seems to be fashionable on here to spout shit about Mesa for some reason, for some who will blindly back Clement come what may.

Tammy was awful yesterday, time for a rethink. on 13:02 - Dec 5 with 1212 views | swancity | Mesa hasn't shone in any of his games but conversely hasn't been as bad as many make out. Overall he's been disappointing though with a 6/10 maximum for him to date. You sense that he can get better and with a run of games he is capable of improving. He switches off a bit too much for my liking at present consequently looking equally capable of giving away a daft goal at any moment.

He needs a run of games before we can make a proper assessment. Why he isn't given that opportunity when all others are is a mystery. I definitely think that the times this season when we've looked most 'like us' is when he's been on the pitch. The continuing issue we have, is that we only really play like us when Leon is playing, and yet we've never sourced a proper replacement for him, and we've also made sure that we are not giving any opportunity for Leon himself to feature as he's currently wasting his time as a 'coach'. If Mesa was supposed to be that replacement, there has to play enough to grow into it. Clement doesn't value the position though. He only played him last season out of desperation. Clement favours a team packed with bog standard utility midfielders, interchangeable in their mediocrity.

I can't think of a more damning condemnation of a player than you thinking there were no faults in his performance.

At some point he is going to have to panic and either give Mesa a run or bring Leon back. All our ‘bog standard utility midfielders’ are ok when they’ve got someone dictating tempo and demanding the ball. We can’t keep picking 3 of them and wondering why no ones taking responsibility to pass forward though

I agree with your comments regarding Leon, Lisa, and the way that he tends to define our style and tempo. Personally, I would play both with Leon at the base of the diamond and Mesa at the tip. Mesa likes short, crisp passes and I would like to see him doing that in an area where that can be a danger to the opposition rather than just tidying up further back. My lineup for Saturday would be:- ..................... Fabs Naughton vdHoorn Mawson Olssen ................... Britton ..............Ki............. Carroll .................... Mesa ............ Bony......... Abraham I will hold my hands up and say I have no idea if Mesa has ever played that role so I'm expecting to be ridiculed for that but I do know that he surely can't be any worse in that position than anything else we've witnessed for most of this season and that without any defensive responsibilities (which would be left to Leon), his forward passing instincts will be better utilised in an area of the pitch where he can do some damage and both Wilf and Tammy will surely benefit from that as well as because Ayew would not be there to constantly take the wrong options.
