Who is paying the £150 balance 20:36 - Jun 21 with 20764 viewsJimlidale

Firstly £200 is fantastic value I will not deny that.
There is an elephant in the room however how many deposits are going to become season tickets?

I can't see many people not converting their deposit into a full season ticket.

It would be a massive shame if people actually CHOSE not to pay it now. The efforts from the clubs and their fellow supporters have helped get the price down to a level where the value for money cannot be disputed.

Of course, circumstances could mean that the odd person may not be in a position to do so.

I might make a trunk call to pay off the balance.

I know you want to shut down the debate but it is a serious question. Those that can only attend a few games and gambled on the £110 price tag. Might not be prepared to pay £90 more than they budgeted for.

In the totaliser thread people have said they are going to just stomach losing the £50. I think it is a serious question. I think the club can't sit back and expect for balances to all roll in.

Those sort of comments came during the period when there was real concern about what the club were going to do to raise momentum. Some focused on not only ideas to address those issues, but also recognised the club might do something to reinvigorate things. Which they did.

Are you seriously suggesting that individuals paid a £50 deposit expecting that the final price would be £110. and that that are now so disappointed they will either A not pay the balance of £150 or B cannot afford the balance. If A applies they are living in "cloud cuckoo land" and if B applies they had no right gambling £50 in the first place as it was money they couldn't afford to lose.

Or there are folk who may not be able to get to too many games and gambled (like me). Even so, though, once the £50 is added to p-o-t-d prices, I suspect the economics will be in favour of most paying the balance. I will.

Definitely paying the balance and getting a season ticket. Great value and so much better than last season's fiasco , when I didn't get one til half way through.

There are individuals that paid the £50 and hoped the top brass had lost the cant be arsed attitude towards the fans ,I dont see it to be honest .The season ticket initiative whilst good in principle was lost in practice and that is where RAFC have been for my time watching Dale.Molly A no i didnt B i can afford it ,them are not the only reasons for not buying .

Out of curiosity, how have the top brass displayed a can't be arsed attitude to the fans during this period? What, in your opinion, should they have done to show they are arsed?

They took a punt on an initiative to make coming to Dale more affordable. Surely they have achieved that? Cheaper season tickets across all stands, and (hopefully) more people in the ground for games supporting Dale.

I don't think expecting the 4000 deposits to be reached was cloud cuckoo land. The population of rochdale borough the according to the 2011 census was 211699 4000 is less than 2% of that figure.
3000 definitely not CCL either.

Good point.

I was thinking about those that might have thought I only get to 5 games a season but I will put £50 down because surely the 4000 target will be reached. £110 will be the 5 games covered and if circumstances permit they can attend other matches and the fee was already paid for. Now even if they go in the terrace. 5 games paid for on the gate plus the £50 deposit equates to £135 £65 less than paying the balance

Everyone who put down a deposit, you wouldn't pay £50 if you weren't prepared to pay the whole amount.

I would. And I was one of the people that said if the club didn't change their 'can't be arsed attitude'and actually push them properly then I wouldn't pay the balance.

However, they did change it and the surge of a massive number of sales in the last week is proof that when pushed at the right price people will buy them.

The club changed their attitude after feedback from fans so I will be changing mine and paying the balance.

I would have been expecting to see faces at schools and being bombarded with photos showing that they were seen to be selling the club ,i also expected local businesses to be contacted with special offers if you buy so many season tickets.
The initiative was to sell 4000 tickets and on that point it has failed ,my accountant in Littleborough has hundreds of clients, is on the clubs database (potential of hundreds of people ) but has not been contacted in any way to either put a poster up or do a deal with tickets.Im not sure who the club has contacted apart from a car garage but the word hasnt reached Littleborough unless you read this and the official board.
The initiative itself has its own 31 page mixed view thread which isnt a good sign in itself ,to me badly executed and forced by poor sales to reduce price.

If you were a season ticket holder last year and were planning to renew. Someone thinking of becoming a season ticket holder, or someone planning to attend 10 or more games the £200 is fantastic. Payment of the balance will partly be down to number of games that are likely to be attend I would have thought.

I would say it has been a great initiative and a relative success and yes I think it could as you say have been even better it was the first time Dale have done it I would hope next year more businesses, schools and other organisations are contacted and involved directly and through wider and better advertising .
Let`s just put this year`s to a bit of naivety and use it as a learning curve.
