Can the title be changed on this thread to bury (H) no longer all ticket?

Good news this should ensure we get 5000+ in the ground?

Not sure it will have that much of an effect, tbh. The vast majority will either be Dale season ticket holders or will have already got a ticket (for either end). Our clubs haven't got enough support for an extra 500-1000 to decide they're coming on the day.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

I'm all for scotching rumours... or pretty much anything really!

So I'll drink to that. Talisker Storm, please.

btw has anyone tried Penderyn, the Welsh whisky? It's half decent.

[Post edited 12 Oct 2016 15:34]

Yes Penderyn legend is smooth for those who are not that into their whisky. I also have a Talisker storm in my collection of about twenty different bottles including The One which is distilled in the lake's professing to be the only distillery in England. I have a bottle ofJapanese whisky which to say the least needs thinking about before drinking it's over 50% proof and takes some drinking.

That collection sounds familiar!

Japanese whiskies have really come on leaps and bounds from what I've read and experts rate some of them as amongst the best in the world (priced accordingly). Never tried one personally so can't add anything, other than at that strength, sounds like a very wee splash of water might be in order to bring out the flavour a bit more?

I saw a bottle of the Lakeland whisky - looked v expensive! Any good or not yet opened?

Not opened yet, it's the limited edition port cask. It looks very dark.
If you like peaty whisky I have a bottle of Ardbeg which is similar to Laphroaig as it comes from Islay as well. Its an acquired taste but very enjoyable all the same.
I'm off to Dublin for new year where I will be purchasing a bottle of Green Spot whiskey. If your get the chance try a glass of Eagle Rare it American and is very smooth. Similar in colour to Penderyn (quite pale).

I find that they all taste the same when you add Coke.

Sacrilege!

Seriously though, whisky & coke ain't a bad drink, providing you use decent coke and bland whisky, any of the well-known blended stuff you see hanging from optics behind bars will do (no, not prison bars). Just to add, always pour the coke first, then add the whisky to taste - dunno why but it just seems to work better - each to their own though

On no account should single malts be used for mixing with anything other than a wee splash of water (ala DaleiLama) to make a "scotch & threat", immortalised by Fred in Corry

When I did the Talisker tour, the distiller who conducted it said adding just the merest "threat" of water was recommended, to release the flavour. I've found it works when drinking whisky on it's own, but after a couple of decent ales it's better without

Got an Ardbeg 10 year old on the go and a bottle of Ardbeg Uigeadail in a holding pattern next up

Will look out for both your recommendations.

This!

Actually not really fond of coke. If it isn't beer, wine or whisky, tea or coffee it may as well be water for me.

I say, have you tried "scotch & threat" I say. RIP Fred.

Cracking tour that Talisker tour. I tend to not add water up to 45%, but over and I usually do. It undoubtedly releases the flavour but too much and it tastes too diluted. You can always splash a bit more whisky in though!

One of the best sources of rare malts in the north of England:

A good day out in Skipton too, just as an excuse to visit...
