A lot has been said about the deafening silence coming from the club for the last couple of weeks. There can only be 2 reasons for this.

1/ The board weren't doing anything at all about getting a new manager - the appointment of a new manager is essential so I cannot see that this is even remotely likely, or

2/ An agreement had already been reached with someone who couldn't start immediately but circumstances meant there had to be a veil of secrecy. If the someone is Brendan, the situation with him still being under contract to Liverpool could be the complication that has caused the secrecy. If he was given 3 months gardening leave whilst still being paid by Liverpool, that would expire on 5th Jan after which he would be free to take up another post. All circumstantial evidence but quite plausible.
