I think a trio of a fit Michu, Gomis and Gylfi is a damn fine squad
A "fit Michu" is like a "tall Leon". Just doesn't exist.
Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.
I certainly mean no disrespect to Gylfi but I think your memory is playing tricks on you, Huw. That first season from Michu was something to behold. He was one of the finest players I've seen grace that white shirt and I've been going since '76.
An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.
There are quite a number of posts above with which I agree, and a fair few with which I largely agree.
Something happened with Michu in his second season, which I think is that he was allowed to be a lone ranger, playing anywhere on the field of play, from flag to flag to flag, shooting from the hip, and allowing the team structure and tactics to break down.
If Monk can do with him what he clearly has superbly done with the rest of the team -- and by that I mean to play a more disciplined kind of football -- Michu could be a re-polished gem. To be completely honest, I have no idea whether or not he can do that.

Dav as soon as Mike was sacked he threw a stop and away he wanted to go ,he showed that on the few games he was involved in after Mike left ,totally disinterested in us. Monks is no fool and i very much doubt he'll wear our shirt again

Being the optimist that I am... I'll wait until I see the official announcement of Michu's retirement before I write him off. As for a tall Leon... How about a fit little Leon? Where is he?
care to explain? or just going to abuse every post
Do i need to explain? I obviously rate Gylfi as we all do but to say he is twice the player Michu is utter lunacy. Michu is to my mind one of the best players ever to wear the Swansea shirt. Just a goalscorer someone else said. This is the same Michu who Sir Alex fergusson no less sId he was thinking of sacking his scouting network over(ok tongue in cheek i know). The same Michu whose performances meant he forced his way in to the then World Champions and European Champions Spain. Which was a closed shop full of household names His temperment may be quetionable and his ankles may be shot and i Emphasise the may. But to disrespect his ability and contribution is utter lunacy. Have a look on youtube at his Swansea highlights etc if you have that bad a memory and hang your heads in shame.

Michu was indeed the finest I have seen in a Swansea shirt, without doubt, a real diamond.

i never said they were twice the player, i said they offer different aspects as an AM and they both have pros and cons. It's a close call but at a push i would pick Gylfi. But in no way did i say he was twice the player.

Somebody previous to you did tho. Although you are entiled to your opinion and yes of course i rate Gylfi BUT..... both on top of their games then Gylfi does not even come close to Miguel for me. Not even close as good as he is
The guys enthusiasm was something to behold, that drive to win and chase every chance. We will be lucky to see another like him in a Swans shirt, at his top he was world class.
Half portuguese and half danish, mixing Sagres and Carlsberg is my birthright.
Are you a physiotherapist? or healthcare professional? and why would any Swansea supporter hate him?

I'm not in any of those most commendable professions. I am however someone who will give an honest opinion and will readily put his hands up if I've got it wrong.
I truly believe we will never see him playing for us again. He will walk away on completion of his current contract. I thought he signed a 4 year deal in 2013
In regards of the lower divisions who will take the risk calculated or not that even after 2 operations he still isn't right, and what about his wages? Love or hate is used merely used to enhance a point.
No doubt that we had him in at his brilliant best and was influential with many goals in our early PL days. We can only reflect on those occasions when he was world class, however, realistically that is consigned to the history books now. I've been wrong in the past and undoubtedly will be wrong many more times in the future.

Michu best player I have ever seen in a Swans shirt for that one golden season. And I include my all time favourite player Curt in that watching the Swans since '76.
Had it on good inside knowledge before we shipped him out he was a busted flush injury wise and nothing since then has altered that view I was given.
Wish it wasnt so but be amazed if he came back to us and played again.

In fairness, how could he have been a busted flush? I'm sure he wouldn't have passed the medical at napoli, and they wouldn't have shelled out a loan fee plus wages
You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game
If we see Michu play for us next season at close to the level he did in his first season, I will be delighted. I'm not going to be holding my breath though.
You know, Hobbes, some days even my lucky rocket ship underpants don't help.

I've wondered that myself. Either Napoli were willing to take a calculated risk on his health, or he was actually fit at that point and developed a new injury/complications from his last one later on, or Napoli's medical staff somehow missed it.
It's funny to think back now at how furious some here were (mostly the usual suspects) that the club had loaned him out for just £2m and an £8m fixed transfer option. In hindsight, the club recouped the transfer fee we paid for Michu and avoided paying his wages for a year when he wouldn't even have been fit to play for the majority of the season.
Yet another example of the club being smart and a proportion of fans being clueless.

Agreed. However realism & pessimism amounts to the same thing on here.
Coupled with the obligatory backtracking clause "I'll be the first one to hold my hands up blah blah"
I'm not talking about having blind faith. I'm not even talking about you not holding your breath.
I'm talking about the "he won't play again, it's over, he's finished" etc.
Nobody knows yet for certain do they?
Charlie Austin failed his medical at Hull didn't he? Bellamy has played with shot knees for years.
