The inevitable overreaction 16:38 - Jan 19 with 5980 views | Uxbridge | I've heard it all today. Laudrup should go, Jenkins should go, every single player is a cnt, should be beating the likes of Spurs even if 2/3 of the first team is out, the training pitch is the reason everyone is injured, gay marriage is causing us to lose etc etc. Calm down eh. Never fun to lose 5 games out of 8, but they were all against top 7 teams. Excusable for that fact alone but especially so given the ludicrous injury list we're faced with. Fortunately everyone seems to be coming back just in time for the important games we've got coming up, and by Allah do we need them. The time to panic isn't now. That time is if we lose the next three. Luckily we usually do much better against bottom half teams.

The inevitable overreaction on 21:00 - Jan 19 by Catullus | Yes there are other factors but he put the ball in when under no pressure with no opportunity player challenging him. We can always question what led up to the ball getting there but the fact remains, he applied the finish. If he'd let it going would have gone clear across the area. So apart from poor marking there's poor communications too. In trying to absolve Chico you just unearth more problems! Are you denying Chico has been poor for a while now? |
No pressure? It was whacked across the 6 yard box. Strange stick you're beating him with. Defending Chico? Did you actually read what I wrote?

Haven't seen the goals back yet but two men were unmarked there. Something went wrong. But aye, got to have our whipping boys. Can't just say a couple need taking out of the firing line.

Well when you're 3 points off relegation.. being negative isn't the way to go about it.. the negative atmosphere at the liberty comes onto the pitch. If Fulham go 1-0 up around the 20 minute mark (i'm putting my helmet on)..

http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/swanseacity/forum/100127/leons-thoughts/#0 Everyone has ignored this very good post and interview. Look and listen very carefully.. look at the normally calm and composed Michael Laudrup looking rather ruffled.. they need support.

It didn't come off Chico, it didn't just hit him. He attacked the ball and put it through his own net. People talk about whipping boys but what does moving the blame get you? Just a different whipping boy. Yes Lamah could have done better but he didnt, Chico could have done better too. But he scored an own goal.

He could catch the ball in the penalty box and you'd still blame somebody else for not stopping the cross. Lack of midfield cover did not help either centre back but Chico was notably sloppy. Poor marking on the first goal whichever you look at it from both him and Rangel. Two people got in behind Chico and in front of Rangel. Poor from both. The own goal was not just bad luck. Chico had no awareness of who was around (partly due to bad communication) but just stuck a leg out while facing his own goal. 4 failed tackles today. Rangel, Davies and Ash failed 3 between them. The inevitable overreaction on 21:18 - Jan 19 with 1183 views | Tokijo | Its squeaky twitchy bum times now, particularly starting with Fulham. Win, and we will be ok until West Ham the week after. If we lose, Fulham leapfrog above us and we head further south into the drop zone. Time to panic is if no points are collected in the next three games, which according to ML, is "our" league within the PL. C'mon ML, time to rally your troops, and get up off your arse instead of sitting down for the whole 90 minutes.

The inevitable overreaction on 20:58 - Jan 19 by Uxbridge | Aye me too. Some people genuinely think it matters. |
If today wasn't a stark reality check on a few of our players/ managers then we're doomed. Britton - great when he sits in front of the back 4, but when involved in attack...today... Oh dear Shelvey - can barely last 45 mins these days Pozeulo - gives more & more ball away with each game, lightweight, certified member of Chico's diving team Davies - if ANYONE remotely thinks he a better defender than Taylor then Cefin Coed needs you back immediately Chico - made some good interceptions early on but gets attracted to the ball & losses his position too often. Laudrup - today was like having Sousa back in charge without the solid defending... 8 goals conceded 3 goals scored in the last 3 league games is alarming even if it's City, United & Spuds, two home games in that lot...

The inevitable overreaction on 21:52 - Jan 19 with 1097 views | FearOfAJackPlanet | On Chico, I seem to be the only one who thought he was most culpable for the 3rd goal. He left Adebayor to go charging over to Rose - who was being pursued by Routs - with little or no hope of stopping a cross, and by leaving Adebayor unmarked he gave Rose the easiest assist he'll have. Let's be honest, Chico, bless his cotton socks, has a habit of charging to places he really shouldn't, and the 3rd goal was a good example. He's not to blame for today's defeat, but agree with Ux that he could do with being taken out of the firing line for a couple of games. Amat seems to have more about him at the moment. Davies needs to be benched for Taylor as well, at least for the Brum game - give Tayls another chance to stake a claim.

Vorm michu dyer de Guzman Hernandez canas all would have been involved today. It's a bit like asking a 10 handicapper to give tiger woods a game off scratch. It's not going to work. We all know this and yet the overreaction suggests that people don't understand.

Good analogy Someone next to me shook his head and said that we're not as quick as them today. Took me 10 mins to explain to him that possibly all their bench would have walked into our first team today (possibly most days) and anything today with our depleted squad was a bonus. All well and good saying that we've taken points off the big teams previously but realistically was never going to happen today with our available players and lack of options off the bench. Can't wait to see this board after the Fulham game!!

The inevitable overreaction on 21:46 - Jan 19 by WarwickHunt | Nope. Blaming him for the own goal is absurd though. Never mind about the lead up (Lamah asleep and Ben AWOL again) - the ball was driven hard and low into the box and Tremmel dived across his line of vision. Perhaps if Rangel had shouted he might have been able to get out of the way. He was very close to Tremmel so I doubt it. Anyway, you thought our worst player was "outstanding" today. He was repeatedly mugged, done for pace, miles out of position and made some lovely passes to the opposition. Where the f*ck was he for the first goal? I've always thought you were one of the more clued up posters but I'm not sure we saw the same game today. |
Ben wasn't our worst player he was very good going forward. Woeful defensively but my comment was clouded by my emotions while watching the game and seeing him tackle Walker on the goal line and create a half chance out of nothing. He shouldn't be blamed for going "AWOL" for the second goal as he's supposed to go forward and Lamah was in the correct position to cover. The issue was that he let someone slip right behind him. Neither "defensive" midfielder was anywhere near the ball as well. Britton and Amat have a lot to answer for. For the first goal there was a 2 vs. 1 situation on the left hand side. One of the midfielders had to come across to cover the crosser (Eriksen) and they were nowhere to be seen. Why am I sensing a pattern here?

Look, our season starts now. 16 games to get 19 points and with 3 point start over the real dregs. Every game a meaningful test of our mettle over the next six weeks. What more can a fan want. Bring it on. Just maybe stay, watch and shout for the team eh? Today was embarrassing from the stands. [Post edited 19 Jan 2014 20:19]

Today was embarrassing from the stands? Wasn't it. When we are winning and the 'singers' are in full voice, some on here will be complaining about the lack of noise in the West/ Family stands.Today when our players needed to suck in the atmosphere, there was silence, just when they needed it most . At away games our fans sing even if we are beaten and out. The silence means our twelfth man can only sing when we're winning.
