Strange, strange, strange decisions today from Keith and overall a very frustrating game. Seeing rathbone back in the team before the game was a welcome boost but then he was completely wasted in the first half out on either wing. His linkup play was key to our winning run but our there he wasnt involved the same and we missed his closing down in the middle. A very disjointed half with new singings and too many players out of position for reasons I'm not sure of.
Second half started better with rathbone centrally and Taylor looking good down the left. Then the substitution happened and completely killed everything we had going forward. Taylor coming off seemed to dumbfound everyone especially as he was the one most likely to put in a cross for Vincenti. Too quick to make a sub when it was working and then too slow to change it when it wasnt.
We just seem to have lost everything from our winning run. Those games we had threats from out wide in rafferty and especially bunney and fantastic linkup play in the middle. Granted the loss of bunney is unavoidable but why have we ditched our strengths? McGahey just isn't a comfortable right back and although rafferty had an OK game we're missing that ability to get forward and put a decent ball in. Felt for henderson today who was isolated all game.
Shoutout to Keane on another accomplished performance. McDermott's confidence looks shot. Less said about the pitch the better.
Bit greedy at times and definitely not what I'd consider a good performance from him but he was always willing to try and make something happen which was more than everyone else. Can't blame him too much for the greediness because no one else could play a pass today.
Some clueless ones in the mainstand were calling for him to be subbed. Moment of magic to go past a couple of players and set up the goal shut them up.
Ah the usual Rose criticism. Easily the better of the 3 midfielders last night, the only one who looked to get on the ball and make things happen through purposeful passes or driving forward. A few misplaced passes during a spell in the first half but otherwise a committed performance.
Can't say the same for the other two. Some good tackles from Lund but ultimately his game on the ball has descended into one-touch nothing balls down the line for henderson to chase. The less said about Rhys 'cultured' Bennett the better, clumsy at best at right back nevermind attacking mid, anonymous.
I struggle to understand why any black manager would want to attend an interview unsure of whether they're in serious contention for the job or just there because they're needed to fulfill some anti-discriminatory quota.
Nervousness from the crowd affects the players. Not using it as an excuse for them but 2 songs all game is poor. At least we could say we're doing our bit but sadly we're not.
