Totally agree.
The ref took his time, quite rightly, but it looked a red all season long. Especially if you watch it from the camera that faces Varane. I cannot imagine any neutral quibbling about the colour.
If it had been a Blackburn challenge on Steve Cook, we'd have been screaming for a red.
Sure, Travis was screaming at the ref but Pawson was experienced enough not to to be influenced. As far as I could see, Baath was clutching his leg, well above the ankle.
Correct decision for me. The one I thought he got wrong, was Smyth's goal that was disallowed. Never a foul.

For all those quibbling that Varane's tackle (sic!) wasn't deserving of a red, ask yourself what card should have been shown if a Rangers player had been on the receiving end. |

First look, I thought the same. 2nd look, ref got it right. Varane lunged in, off his feet, out of control.
It's all a bit cagey. They are quick on the break but we don't seem to have a pattern beyond the High press.
Frey is trying to bring people into the game but Dembele has barely had a touch. Santos is on dodgy ground. Yellow carded and seemed to pull his guy back. I can see Ashby on at HT. Maybe Madsen as well. |

Pleased to see Varane starting. However, it's a long way from our strongest XI and the bench doesn't look that strong.
3 giants in midfield - Smyth, Dembele and Saito. |

Not good enough for Championship but L1/L2 he'd be a decent defender. If he doesn't want to move out of London though, his choices are limited. |

All 3 results are credible, IMHO
They've won 3 out of 3 at home and are unbeaten. We have an awful record at Ewood Park. We've conceded in every game so far.
But, we won last year. Why can't we do it again? How many teams win 4 home games on the bounce.
Is our squad, from far and wide, starting to come together? In patches, yes. Could Chair, our best player, and Fox make their 1st appearances.
I'd both a home win and an away win are possible, why not the draw? |

Back in the day, I was a steward at Baseball Ground & Pride Park. I did hear stories of people turning up late and seeing if the stewards on exit gates would let them in. Stewards asked to see tickets but would grant admission to anybody with a brown piece of paper, contains the Queen's head. |
