I think the more logical explanation is that we wouldn’t front the money required for the perm transfer. Never seen anything about us wanting him on loan. The only time I saw him last season was in the play off final where he came on and made a mistake for Luton to score before getting away with it being hand ball. |

Felt worried straight away when I saw the team yesterday and always do when I see that back 3 together. You can’t expect to contend with this forest side who have real athleticism and physicality with a centre back with no pace whos under 6 ft, a CM turned LWB playing a CB & a full back at CB. Every time they broke down our left past Wolfs press Manning would stay central and let their player have a free run to the byline/into the box. Crazy. Every time there was a turn over they would instantly look for a through ball and forward runs and because our defence are so inexperienced in that position they were all over the place. |

The team definitely look fitter now as well. I think we might see a fair few second half displays similar to the past 2 games because the way we keep the ball will sap the energy from opposing teams. Especially teams who like to press high. |

I remember when we would face a similar issue back in the day, it would be simple diag from Ash to Dyer over the top. Used to be quite successful at making teams think twice and Dyer managed a few goals from it I’m sure. Paul Anderson before him as well. Looking at Russ’ work at MK there did seem to be some similar variation to their game when trying to create chances. He obviously had to sort out the messy defending immediately, which has probably been a lot of the work over the break. We need to find some invention within the team in the final third now. |

I’m pleased about the quality of the signings that came in as I think they all impact the first 11. Still some glaring holes in the squad though, short on both wingbacks if Kyle and Ryan are to play centrally. And I think if we’re playing a couple of 10’s we’re short of quality in that area. |

We needed an extra body in that area so disappointing really. Especially as he offers something different to the players we currently have. |

Got to say I am slightly worried with Liam Walsh. Looks one of are brightest midfielders but how often will we have him on the pitch. If/when grimes goes we need to do some work in that area. |

Naughton is the better all round fullback for me at the moment with Robert’s the best option at wing back. Robert’s has shown good quality in that wing back role but struggles a bit in a back four. When we want to play a 4 I wouldn’t be mad at seeing Robert’s right midfield sometimes as he’s got good attacking threat. Oh and that routs performance was just what the doctor ordered. Calm and experience. |

It’s mad to think before this people were hoping for cooper to leave in some capacity. At least we know he can get a tune out of this team and lets face it half of the players signed have come to play for him having previously done so. Might not be the best football at all times but we do look to be making positive progression under him. If he has walked then the clubs a sh*t show. |

Even though Ampadu has had a bit of a tough time on load he had an absolute blinder in the away leg of the CL against spurs so I’m sure there will be more lucrative offers out there from the prem/abroad for next season. |

Whoever pays the most? Still, likely Forest. |

I’m assuming Benda has been doing well in a high flying Swindon team, could he be the no1 next season? Seems to be highly though of. |

In fairness to the lad he’s probably had a little bit too much exposure to first team football at this level due to our injuries recently and then he’s deserved to keep his place. I’m sure the plan was always to build his experience a little more gradually. He’s inexperienced and is going to have bad games but as long as he learns he’ll do well in the future. Expect him to be taken out over the next few games for a rest with Joe back. I’m not sure exactly of that stats in terms of appearances but if you take VDH out of the question our centre backs have very limited experience. |

Watching it all unfold yesterday the issue (for me) was the massive hole in the middle of the park in front of Fulton and Grimes. Borja likes to come deep and affect the game which in turn was leaving spaces I assume Dhanda was supposed to be running into. Number of occasions Ayew, Roberts and Borja had worked a decent openings only to find no one had got into the box. Dhanda was staying deep, Celina staying wide and neither grimes/Fulton were prepared to get into the box. Pretty much every time we had to recycle the ball in these situation which was frustrating. |

How far has Matt Grimes come on this season. Really good from him playing in an unnatural position yet again. |

“I have the option of a new contract, so it's not really a free transfer [at the end of the season]. The club has to decide if they want to activate that option” That sounds to me like there’s a optional year or something? |

The first half hour shape didn’t work as we played narrow almost trying to play 3v3 with Their defence. Problem is everything was in front of them and quite static so they dealt with it easily and pushed on as a result. We changed after that slightly with Bersant coming left and having two up top, which was a little better but was still dealt with easily enough by Shef UTD. The second half change was the one. James’ pace and movement up top, along with the option of going in behind meant their defence had to drop back, gap between their defence and midfield got bigger and created space for us as a result. |

Important contribution in the first goal. Inconsistent but definitely offers something different to Celina on occasions when needed. |
