Gateshead management team depart
at 16:13 1 Oct 2024

Not surprised by this - must have been a real blow to them last season when Gateshead Clowncil behaved as they did and the play-offs were denied. Surprised they haven't been poached by a bigger club than Crawley to be honest

To be fair James, I have never heard a new signing saying he came here because he was desperate and he didn't give a toss about the manager, the club or the fans. What else would they say? I don't think anybody is saying we shouldn't play out from the back and play it on the floor, but we are concerned that the tactics at home and away are different and our home form ultimately drives our financial stability and whether we are in the play-offs or not. That is all.

What a load of rollocks. But you have always been blinkered. One of the serious posts on this thread is from somebody who played semi pro for years. He will know more about it than most and I respect his judgement over yours anyday of the week. Just because we have new owners doesn't mean we have open chequebooks. We need to entertain the crowd and start to build on the 2500 we have today.

The Board need to talk to McNulty about the need to attract new fans. I was disappointed that only 2550 or so home fans were there yesterday for a club that is doing well this season. But of course we could so easily be sub 2000 so maybe I have too high an expectation. But there were new faces there yesterday and I want them to come back every week - and they want to be entertained. This team is capable of playing with more tempo and I don't see why Jim is so stubborn about that. The interaction between Hogan and Ferguson was so funy when Hogan came on - Hogan telling Ferguson to get it forward, and Ferguson seemed to be telling Hogan to always pass it back to the keeper. Of course you are right, midfield was decimated and we should acknowledge the challenge that brought. East seemed to have a bit of an off game too. Braintree didn't give up and will be desperately disappointed with their misses.

National League Cup Groups
at 11:47 21 Sep 2024

This reflects what was being said by many clubs in late summer when the FA Cup replays were abandoned because Premier League Clubs wanted to send players across the world to play in other tornaments to make more money. I tend to believe in everything said in this statement. But if our owners are happy to take the financial risks, then who are we to disagree.

He did. He said he wasn't sure about the merits of this competition, which was "offered" to the National League as an alternative to lucrative cup replays. It may well work for some of the more recently promoted teams the National League as a bit of a novelty. But we all saw the mess of the Papa Johns thing when we were a league team. It won't be well attended. And Hartlepool have opted out despite the opportunity to host Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesbrough - says it all really

James it is the frustration. We can't win them all. But we played too slowly and everybody was urging them on. Shame because we had another 300 or so in today who may not come back for a while. Such a shame.

Jim set them up to play slowly and without pace we won't get through a very marshalled Solihull. Hope he changes things at half time. We want new fans to go home happy

Update from Cameron Ogden.

It is a requirement to have a safeguarding officer at football clubs. There will be processes in place that I am confident of. I know a safeguarding officer at another club and the amount of process and challenge they have to deal with is significant.

On a wider note, and I know it won't be popular with some, we have to embrace the rugby club. They aren't going anywhere. There has been a significant improvement in the relationship since Hornets appointed a new CEO. I go to a Hornets game each year and whilst the crowds are small, they are as passionate about their club as we are. It was great to see them get more than 2000 at a game recently v Owdum. If they succeed and get promoted, our stadium benefits from increased turnover. They help the bar sales thats for sure.

TVOS Preview - Rochdale v Solihull Moors
at 15:04 13 Sep 2024

Solihull have sold 50 tickets so far. So I agree they won't bring that many. I really hope we can create a feel good factor and get bums on seats. Remember when Parkin had us near the top of League Two after years of misery and we had 4000+ turning up. But anything closer to 3,000 would be a good result

I'd give it a go now Windy if I were you. Its pretty good value for what you get. Yes there are lots of things that could be improved - but we have the cheapest hospitality offer in the league. Our friends up the road want £70 for something similar.

That doesn't mean I disagree with TS. The boxes and the 1907 lounge are a bit drab. It feels like a 1970s community centre. The tables could be spruced up, TVs on etc etc. But the bar is priced well, the food is okay, and you get to hear from an ex player before the game etc etc. And remember you get a programme thrown in too. If we made the improvements that others suggest we could easily then charge £20 more.

I agree that the leather seats are uncomfortable if you are older than a 13 year old child. But you can ask to sit in another seat in the area.

He doesn't take any prisoners does he? He then said that we announced 1200 fans but there were only 900 there. Talk about having a dig. He has a point though

I accept that MPs need to live somewhere whilst in London on House of Commons business. But it is a bit of a scam in that the state doesn't benefit from the capital gain made on such second homes when they cease to be an MP. The state should build a large hotel style property close to Westminster with every MP being allocated a room. That would take the need away and ensure that MPs only need travel costs reimbursed. Long term the state gains.

Was Gordon the captain tonight? He made some great tackles again and was frustrated by their goal when talking to mcnulty at the end of the game. He was definitely showing he cared.

It has indeed been one of the best publicised road closures in years. Lots of gantry signs, local papers and online media, even BBC breakfast TV this morning. Thankfully they don't coincide with our games - although Owdum will be unhappy as the official diversions affect them badly

Just read that the EFL have now changed the entry rules for non league clubs trying to get access to the EFL after the farce with Gateshead last season. You now need a 5 year ground lease agreement (instead of 10) on the proviso that you can secure a 10 year lease deal by the end of your second season in the EFL. With Gateshead being top of the league right now, they will breathe a sigh of relief - and the local council has sought bids to run the stadium from third parties for the Gateshead International Stadium by the end of this month. Whoever wins that process can then negotiate terms with the football club to extend their lease.

TNT are no longer the Broadcaster. It is DAZN. As I understand it, they have yet to set up the channel that people can subscribe to in the UK to watch National League games. They are more established in other sports and in Europe - although I can't see our game at our level being a big hit in Europe/worldwide. The blackout window for National League is the same as other leagues - games between 3pm and 5.15pm.

It seems bizarre to me that the National League did a deal with a broadcaster where the broadcaster wasn't ready for Pay for View subscriptions in the UK - or have I got that wrong?

Sir Peter makes his debut

Best performance for 5 or 6 years. Brilliant. McNulty said we are a squad and not a team in his programme notes. They looked like a brilliant TEAM in my opinion. When did we last see us man mark and close down so well. We could so easily have been in double figures. Sir Peter....it is like this every week so please come again. Haha
