The problem of scoring 13:04 - Jan 9 with 1146 viewsShun

No team in the FL or BSP (excluding the bottom 3 of the Championship) has scored less than us.
That's a worrying stat and it's definitely more pressing than our defensive frailties (the defence hasn't looked bad at all lately). The strikers we do have aren't bad at all, so what's going wrong?

A lot of it I think is down to poor service into them. As much as I like Adams, he is our only main provider we have and he is very inconsistant, he can be a match winner, his cross for the goal on monday an example. It could be just we need better service into the front men, be it from the wings or someone pushing up from midfield to provide them, because as you say our strikers are not poor quality at all.

Life is a game of fate.

we could definately do with another natural wide man to help balance the midfield

obviosuly oremerod and bogdanovic are an attempt to try and find a consisten source of goals

twaddle played wide on the left a bit and apparently has a decent long ball on him and surely deserves a chance by now

Poll: Would you have Keith Hill back?

Twaddle has been out since October with a hamstring injury, see Andy Thorpe's update on the OS. Due to see a specialist again on Friday, will probably have another injection in the problem area to try and cure the discomfort.

I agree, defensively we have coped ok of late, including defending well 1st half at Walsall and Hartlepool respectively. This is positive only if we can go and score goals at the opposite end of the pitch. We created very little on Saturday, but the previous 2 games chances were there. Like it’s been said, Bog and Brett should address the lack of goals if quality service is provided. I predict 4 points from the next 2 games, which will hopefully change the view of all the pessimists and be the base from which to fight out of the bottom four come April.

Agree with the need for a new winger.

Adams seems to do the hard bit by creating a chance to cross, but then his final ball is abysmal more often than not.

He's our only natural, attacking wide player at the minute, so we could do with another IMO.

Its blatant that a natural winger is what we need. Someone who isn't scared to run at full backs and hit the byline. We have a provider in Adams, but like others said it's not every week we get a top game out of him.

Its a shame Hackney is out, because with speed like his, a lot of problems could be caused. But yes, agreed a 'winger' is needed, and not a left or right midfielder.
