yet here's the contradictory bit.....i'd love a 30,000 stadium, with a lovely bit of leg room, and a concourse with decent facilities/toilets/food drink....and safe standing.
what would be the furthest from loftus road you would accept....regardless of where you live.

maybe too easy an option , buy the school and , relocate it to the army cadet land , they get better open space we aquire a useful piece of land , all being at a much more expensive price than CW could have bought it for , issue is is do the club still have the restrictive covenants in place for how many times they can use LR each calender year ? |
We would also have to buy at least twelve of the Imre Close houses. Their gardens extend to a line well into the School End penalty area. Buying only the gardens wouldn't work either for light reasons, we'd have to buy the houses.

Surely the essential reasons why none of this will happen is:
Buying more land around Loftus Rd would cost fortunes and not significantly increase capacity or improve facilities to use the ground for other events - so hardly any return on investment.
Buying new land for a new stadium would be prohibitive in this part of town, particularly given a lot of fans stubbornly say they wouldn't continue to support the club if it moved too far away.
The economics of football dictate you are only viable if you are in the premier league, and there the revenue is all about tv rather than fans in the stadium.
For these three reasons I think fans will continue to come up with ingenious plans to buy up gardens in Ellerslie Rd and build road tunnels on SA Rd but in ten years time we will still be sitting in the same crap seats in much the same stadium, probably still being served mouth-scorching pukka pies. | | | |

It's simply not true to say that nothing will ever happen. Every year our capacity is reduced further and further - we're probably at about 17.5k now and a good quarter of those are restricted views. And, of course, the old girl has been neglected. So, there will come a point at which we either find ourselves reduced to an even smaller capacity, we find a way to do something with the small spaces around our current site, or we move out entirely. | | | |

Anyhow, while searching for something else entirely, I chanced upon a report in The Times from December 2002.
Entitled "Fulham pull the plug on Cottage plan", it says that FFC won't be redeveloping Craven Cottage in line with previous plans because "it is not financially viable"
Leaves two options - find an alternative site or propose a cheaper development of the ground. This latter would have required a fresh application for Planning Permission and further delay etc.
Anyhow, to get to the point which will interest QPR fans, it seems that in order to explore the former option, FFC/Fayed had been in talks about buying land owned by M&S in Wood Lane, opposite the BBC's White City HQ. They were considering building a 40k seater stadium on the site, then occupied by distribution warehouses and a "mock store" (wtf?)
However because of space constraints they might also have had to buy adjacent land owned by Helical Bar (property company) and Morley (fund manager).
Anyhow, nothing came of it, I guess because the two landowners in W12 must have been holding out for huge sums. But the club was still interested in this possible relocation because they reckoned the original cost of redeveloping CC had by now risen from £70m to nearly £100m.

I don't have the financial stress of owning/running the club so on a purely selfish basis I'd happily stay there forever.
The safe standing is fantastic and I've got STs beside my mates. I love meeting people before in one of the locals or on the concourse outside and/or a pint or two after. Loads of ways to get there inc the bus, the tube, the Overland and Lime bikes.
I like old grounds in towns and, as others have said, the likes of Cov, Derby, West Brom etc do nothing for me. |  |

All I want is for us to stay on exactly the same site, on the same footprint, in a 35,000-capacity stadium with room for 40,000 season ticket holders and 10,000 in hospitality. I want the stadium to have world class facilities, top-class bars with no beer costing more than a fiver. I want every seat to be reclining, with footrest, and fully sheltered, with no restricted views of any kind. I want the club to takeover and reopen Ocean Billy's like it used to be, and get Shepherds Bush overground station moved a bit north, so you can get out at the junction with South Africa Road.

Crap in a way, but I love it.
During lockdown, when we were only allowed out for excercise, my daily walk was from Hammersmith down and around our ground then back again.
One day the police stopped me and asked why I was out so far from home so I told him.
He then said “you're ex-military aren't you ?”
To try and get in his good books I said yes, how did you know ?
“Well, I can tell by your stance” he said.

Our division is absolutely awash with clubs stuck out on the edge of their towns in identikit shtholes stuck in the middle of retail parks, no pubs, no trains, no character, no atmosphere. They all finish in much the same bit of the Championship we do, and they all lose £20-30m a year just like we do.

You're hoping aren't you! I doubt very much the owners are willing to bankroll another £20 million (very conservative figure) to refurbish the ground when basically the land it's on is their meal ticket should finances go even further south. The only time I can see them refurbing is if we reach the 'holy grail' of the premier league where we'll have to modernise and the owners can recoup their money. | | | |

They don't all own their stadiums, do they, which makes it worse.
We need a new site; it's that simple. This one has had its day about 20 years ago.
It needs to be somewhere in West London. Park Royal has lots of industrial sites, yes? Somewhere like that we can build on but not too far away. If possible next to a tube so, its not like going to Spuds as trek and a half.
