Unlike comments from Johnson, Farrage etc. They've been a beacon of restraint, reason and decorum haven't they!

Once the dust had settled, all efforts should have been concentrated towards the negotiations and talks. You would expect such high ranking EU officials to have at least remained impartial and professional. Farage is a professional wind up merchant and Boris is a moron but they're merely background noise at this point. I think May has been pretty useless but she's maintained her dignity throughout and hasn't resorted to slanging anyone or throwing her toys out of the pram. Can the same be said of the nobs over at the EU? As I've said, they've shown their true colours as far as I'm concerned

Let me be clear then. As i've already referred to current and future unknowability regarding economic conditions / terms of trade etc, i'm not going to repeat myself

If you can forecast accurately whether it'll be advantageous to be part of a European bloc in 10 or 20 years time, i'll bow to your superior skills in astrology

But the main issue is that, whilst people have to be able to earn a decent living and the country afford to continually modernise its infrastructure, services etc, and i'm confident that post-Brexit we'll not only continue to be able to do so but may even be able to improve on existing standards in the longer term - aren't you? Beyond that, there are simply more important things in life than ever-increasing GDP

I can admire the European experiment for having at least curtailed the impetus towards war being rival nations on the continental mainland, but I and 17.4 million others simply don't want to be part of ever-increasing union, and that's got nothing to do with nationalism but rather a desire to see decisions being made about our lives by elected representatives who we can choose to turf out of office should they fall short of expectations. With ever-increasing union, that possibility becomes ever more remote. if you're fine with that, good for you, but don't castigate others who aren't

I can certainly agree with you that our current crop of politicians on all sides of the HoC have failed us, but again, i've already referred to that

Can you please give me one example of something that cannot be legislated by a UK government whilst being in the EU that affects your life?

"Continually modernise its infrastructure..."

Are you joking, I live in a county less than 30 years old which suffered communism for 40+ years and the infrastructure (apart from highways whose network coverage is insufficient) here is light years ahead of there. It is incomparable.

Having visited the Czech Republic recently (2017), it seemed a good place to live but i only really saw the capital. It's great to see countries thriving after being subject to centralised planning from a distance. Starting from a low point with a population of just over 10 million is much easier than replacing the infrastructure of the first industrialised country with a population of over 60 million which was developed in a very ad hoc way to begin with. But we'll get there, in or out of the EU

It's not whether something directly affects my life or not that motivates me

But if i were unfortunate enough to find myself in breach of a law that fell under the ultimate jurisdiction of the ECJ, i wouldn't be happy having judgement passed except by judges who's status was granted by a process that fell within the remit of our elected representatives (the Lord Chancellor)

But in your post you said “a desire to see decisions being made about our lives by elected representatives”. You then say it doesn’t motivate you? In the event that it does, please give me one example where elected representatives of this country are precluded from democratically representing you by the EU.
People say these things all the time but when you actually seek examples they are very rarely provided.

I'm not motivated, in that sense, by my own personal circumstances. And you know very well that's what i meant, it's clear enough

I've responded to enough of your questions. You've yet to respond to my points about being taken in by media misrepresentation. Why? There's misrepresentation of positions on both sides, and both are equally wrong

As i've posted earlier in the thread, in the end it comes down to a gut instinct about whether the UK should continue to be part of an EU seeking ever-closer union, or not

I'm confident we'll be just fine (if not better than fine) outside the EU. You're not. Gut instincts count for an awful lot, way beyond the narrow minutiae of trade. You don't have to like it but you can't, and won't, overcome it's validity

So, it’s just gut instinct that’s making you feel that the EU is precluding you from being democratically represented, it’s gut instinct that the EU is making our lives worse than if we were not in it (but we strangely want to keep the benefits of it) and it’s gut instinct that we’re going to be better off when we leave.
Even for you D_Alien this nonsense of the highest order.

I'm feeling pretty magnanimous, so i'll assume you're really upset about the democratic decision in 2016. I can understand how it might affect you personally, so i'll Leave your meaningless insults alone, and not respond in kind

I've provided more than enough explanation, not just to you but to all who've put their views forward. You're the first to insult me. Sure, i've insulted plenty in the past but i've moved on. I suggest you do the same

Incredible scenes from the Emirates where Rochdale have beaten Arsenal in what Rochdale fans are hailing as a great result. However, we understand that Arsenal are asking for the game to be replayed. They make the point that a one goal win can't be considered as decisive. The F A will now consider all options.

Can you please supply a link to the audited accounts? I'd like to see where the British tax payers goes and how it's spent.
Could you also explain why, after over two years after the referendum the UK is not in a recession, as predicted by some.

I’ll do just fine. Brexit, in particular a no deal variety, will create a myriad of new domestic and international laws and bureaucracy all of which businesses will need interpreting and guiding through. You, on the other hand, are the personification of why Brexit may not happen. You voted to leave but it’s quite clear from here that you very little understanding of really why. Oh no sorry, you’ve got a gut feeling.

I've got a feeling your gutted at having lost the referendum and the moral argument. Without counting the number of posts I've made in this thread, including the dogshit, I've put forward more than enough reason which you've chosen to ignore. Ignorance only debases your case for Remain

If Brexit doesn't happen, or we end up with Brino, it'll be due to the desperation of the Establishment in protecting their own interests. You, sir, have provided nothing more than the perfect example of that

Conspiracy theories of establishment and vested interests next. Like 16 odd million and rising can be the establishment. Anything, literally anything, apart from actually dealing with the real issues. But we know why you don’t. You just don’t have a grasp of them. Use your brain, sorry guts.
Lost the moral argument!! Forgive me for not taking lectures on morality from you.

Really don't get how the Dacre, Barclay Brother's, Bo Jo, Farage, Rees-Mogg et al are held up as champions for the little people. (Not that they have been on here)
Can you get any more establishment?

There have been four positive votes FOR leaving the EU.

1. The referendum.

2. The last general election when both major parties pledged to uphold the referendum result.

3. Almost 500 MPs triggering article 50 ( to leave either with an agreement or with no agreement.)

4.The Brady ammendment (should the EU make legally binding changes to the backstop, the agreement would likely succeed.)

Having triggered article 50, parliament has subsequently contradicted the decision by rejecting the agreement and indicating no appetite for no deal. The "crisis" is of their own making. MPs set the clock running and appear to lack the courage or will to decide on the choices they passed into law.

The EU will not reconsider the backstop as they seek to protect the integrity of "Europe". However, were they to compromise a little, the DUP could support the agreement and it would likely succeed in Parliament. Their intransigence makes "no deal" more likely, with the consequence of potential border issues in Ireland and presumably also Gibraltar, the very circumstance their dogmatic stance seeks to prevent.

The EU and British Parliament do not want the UK to leave. The whole process appears designed to frustrate the referendum result, hence the calls for a second referendum.

Since Parliament will not decide, then a referendum may be the answer. MPs, debate your choices next week, decide which version of leave you prefer and put it to the country against "no deal" as per article 50. Remain has no place in this process.

OR........

......'Dale were unfortunate to lose in added time in the FA cup due to a dodgy deflected free kick. Given the marginal nature of the result and an unwillingness of a minority opinion to accept such a borderline outcome, surely Rochdale should be allowed back to compete in the semifinals.
