Union + League 14:30 - Oct 1 with 2907 views | ichbinnaughty | First of all, I'm a football but first and foremost. But, some might recall, I have been 'appreciating' rugby the more time passes, the more money turns football and footballers into w@nkers, the more that simulation and a lack of sportsmanship pervades our game (money, again, making the stakes ludicrously high), and the awful standards of officiating the game (both human and technology). It started about 6 years ago with the 6 Nations. The absolutely pure competitive nature of the games. This is Rugby Union. Then I found that any international games were enthralling. My interest doesn't filter down into the club game particularly (yet). And my interest hadn't transferred to Rugby League either. Its different. And I still wouldn't say I watch Union understanding EVERY play or EVERY referee decision. And Rugby League is "the far more northern" one. (And I know, CLIVE, that I'm on your forum seemingly belittling your other love). It's just all the teams were odd northern towns I'd never been to, often seemingly from within about a 20 miles radius of each other - making up half a division (St Helens, Warrington, Castleford, Keighley, Widnes etc etc). I was intrigued - the attendances were always good; Sky deem it fit for coverage season after season - but I couldn't quite 'get' this 5 play thing in the rules that didn't seem to reward good possession. BUT NOW I GET IT. I watched the two Grand Final semi games - and they were engrossing. Enthralling. End to end, genuine excitement, proper tough competitors, well officiated. No pathetic cheating. No faking injury. Big excited crowds. Really good entertainment.
Union + League on 14:57 - Oct 1 with 2888 views | MrSheen | It is possible to like both, despite what the partisans say, though my preference is for league. My son preferred playing rugby to football from a very early age, which drew me back to the game I played at school. I'm a bit further along the road of being disenchanted with footballers - throw in owners like Briatore. I wonder how many of our players felt about relegation like Micky Higham of Leigh yesterday, apologising in tears for letting his town down. Melbourne awesome in winning the Australian final today, much too good for a brace but patched -up North Queensland.
Union + League on 15:35 - Oct 1 with 2853 views | terryb | I've never seen an RL game in the fleshLeague, but this season has been rather enjoyable & different! Castleford finishing top easily (please beat the Champions of Europe in the play off final!) & Wakefield (the club whose results I've followed since the glory days of the '60's) having their best season for an eternity. A large % of games have been decided in the last few minutes. However, the game suffers from Sky interferring & changing match days & kick off times! Where have I heard & written that befors! Bloody Thursday night games. Wakefield's record seems to be getting close to Queens Park Rangers & Friday's!

Union + League on 16:39 - Oct 1 with 2811 views | Toast_R | I'm going to Twickenham in November to watch England v Argentina. First ever time seeing a live pro Rugby international. Paid a stupid amount for a pair of ok'ish seats but will be an experience and I'm really looking forward to it. Renewed my membership at QPR this season but havnt actually been yet, I'm struggling to get motivated. I've been to watch my local non league side 3 times and if I'm being honest, I quite like the simplicity of walking 10 minutes up the road, paying a tenner at the turnstile and having an affordable beer in the clubhouse after with the members players. Simplicity is bliss. [Post edited 1 Oct 2017 16:40]

Hes a great all round athlete and very good at football but loves Rugby Been offered trials for Middlesex & Hertfordshire and QPR for football. Turned down QPR one reason was that he wouldn't get regular playing time, plus his love of Rugby is greater. Not all down to possible future riches
