Was the club right to leave itself with a very young squad this season? Sensed the problem last year was a lack of experience and physicality, which leaves you with no leaders that you need when you start to go on a bad run. Be interested to get your thoughts. |  | | |  |

A pretty fair appraisal, except that some Colchester youngsters are remarkably experienced as regards their number of full league appearances and many have been together at under 18, 21 and 23.
Lack of physical presence is an issue notably in each box, but the kids of previous years are slowly manning-up and getting stronger. This year might still be too early, but I am confident we will eventually benefit from a long period of youth focus. Skill levels are high and performances have been decent even in defeat. We just need to score more when opportunity arises and concede less goals in our few minutes of poor concentration. |  | | |

Slght improvement to the defence in that we're not conceding two goals a game like last season. Still looks a bit ropey at times though. Not entirely the defenders fault as the one in midield formation leaves them horribly exposed at times. |  | | |
