Seems a bit self-defeating from the club to rope Paal into PR duties. We also know the club was desperately trying to flog him this summer and he wasn’t offered a new deal so is understandably completely checked out. Like beaching a tanker and then asking someone on their beach their thoughts on the oil industry. |

Not much to add on the latest accounts other than that they spell out what people were repeatedly saying last season - we were extremely tight on FFP and had to be creative to get anyone in. The concern for me is on this season - any savings on Dykes, Willock, Adomah, Begovic will have been easily swallowed up by the likes of Madsen, Varane, Nardi, Celar. We also have Frey, Andersen, Cook & Colback earning extremely good money this year, all individually on far more than half the leagues highest earners, so we are going to be looking at another c.£25m loss this year and then hopefully two seasons of common sense and tight belts rather than allowing a Beale-esque blowout this summer, plus also likely needing to move a couple out for decent fees. |

Late to the party as with a newborn there’s more to life than getting worked up about our average championship club. Others have probably already said it, but stooping to Pompeys level and providing such a vindaloo dump of long ball slop was not only hard to swallow, but also self defeating as you’ll never outfarm a team used to playing farm football. Frey as bad as performance as he’s ever given. Worst spend of 5 figures for the week since that Escort Cosworth with 200k miles was going around on Autotrader. Lloyd then showing why we have to play Frey when put clean through and not only failing to work the keeper but closer to setting off the collision warning for the Isle of Wight ferries out of Gunwharf than hitting the target. Dunne back to playing as the footballer that made Cifuentes give up on him as a CB and dump him out wide, Chair at his wasteful worst just after being his clinical best. A shitshow from which nobody emerged with any credit. And as said during the game, Hayden couldn’t have telegraphed his feelings for Nourry any more publicly if he’d had them tattooed on his chest and ripped his shirt off celebrating the goals. Which he nearly did.. |

Interesting that nobody celebrated their goals harder than Hayden. Clearly no love lost between him and Nourry. |

Sometimes you just have to recognise when people are operating on another level to mere mortals, and Rashford’s PR woman and Kakay’s agent are two such examples. If he can get a contract at that level I’m going to reach out and see if I can get us both a trial. Literally anything is already possible. |

He spent much of last summer trying to get the Burnley and Sunderland jobs… |

Football is an extremely small world, and anyone doing their due diligence on Kakay is inevitably going to be told that he rejected the chance to play football, preferring to see out his contract - the reasons behind it that are entirely understandable as a fellow new dad will be deemed irrelevant. The same club would also be watching his tape from 2023/24 when he was costing us a goal a game and it’s going to scare most off. Some good games in prior seasons are going to carry less weight as you’re always only ever as good as your last game. |

One thing I’ve struggled to reconcile is that Hamalainen, who every manager who ever had him said was actually a good player but who shook like a shitting dog when actually on the pitch was always willing to go out on loan and live out of a suitcase to free up money for the club to spend elsewhere, and became a figure of ridicule for it. Kakay, who was told by Cifuentes in no uncertain terms that he was done, whose wages were desperately needed to replace him with and whose replacement was literally in a meeting room while we begged him to go, refused, costing us a much needed reinforcement and is apparently a great guy who many would have back… Now of course, living in a 7* hotel in LA or Copacabana Beach on Textors dime, meeting a new girl from Raya every night is hardly going over the top at the Somme, i struggle to see the two in the same way. |

Anyone with any interest in signing him is going to ask around and be told he refused to go out on loan and play last season, and watching the tape will immediately see his mental collapse at Millwall last season. Predicted this time last year he would be lucky to get a deal at Bromley and tbh at this point he would be lucky to get a deal with Borehamwood. |

Feel a bit bad for the kid, brought from playing winger in the Portuguese leagues and asked to come and play Oakland A’s football as a RB in the Championship was always likely to be a hiding to nothing. Will in all likelihood be someone we get a thread on in a few years asking why we let him go when he’s looking good back in the Portuguese league but ultimately there’s more chance of Cifuentes playing half the posters on here so the club needs to move him on and recover whatever they can. |

Everyone who has ever spent any time with ‘Appy ‘Arry has a story to tell and most of them couldn’t be repeated online.. |

Not really *that* surprising. The goal for crazy Rubes is still promotion every season, so being within touching distance of the playoffs at the end of January = more blood. If they could spend £20m in January they would do it. Getting promoted is the only way Rubes gets his prices to sell. (No I don’t believe for a second we are finishing anywhere but lower mid table) |

It’s all a bit Brexit football. Some of the divisions best players sat on the bench so that he can get some more hard working local lads shoehorned in |
