The Swans top it off with a thirty year memory Thursday, 28th Mar 2024 08:00 by Liam Walters The swans have released a commemorative strip marking thirty years since the clubs first appearance at Wembley in the 1994 Autoglass Trophy Final. A game the Swans won on penalties after drawing 1-1 with Huddersfield Town after extra time. Swansea City have had considerable success at Wembley, firstly at the old stadium where they won the Autoglass Trophy. The only loss in five appearances came in 1997 in the play off final against Northampton Town. You could say that game was a load of cobblers after a twice taken free kick whistled in to Roger Freestone’s net. The other appearances were at the new Wembley, once beating Reading 4-2 for a place in the Premier League and the hammering of Bradford City in the League Cup final. However, there is another time as well. We will let you think about that one. So, just the one loss in five, our good friends down the road of course will want to avoid their Wembley record this century. Ronald left separated by the Autoglass Trophy, then on the right Andy Mac and John Cornforth The commemorative strip, and we will focus on the shirt of course is a pretty good replica of that famous Gulf jersey from 1994. The collar is different, but overall it looks pleasing on the eye. The commercial department have most certainly come up with a decent product alongside Joma and it is sure to sell out. The shirt can be ordered from 9.30am this morning online or purchased in the club shop. It’s a good effort by the club, and good work should always be recognised, that’s the adult thing to do. As Swansea fans of some years, two of this website’s number were at that Wembley final back in 1994. History is key, especially when you have witnessed it first hand.
